A Game of Cat and Mouse At a High School Retreat
A class of high school students trapped at a youth center during their class retreat. No teachers. No internet. No contact with the outside world. Then all of a sudden the sound of a school bell and an announcement comes over the loudspeaker: 'The mafia game will begin shortly'.The students' phones are abuzz with notifications as The Mafia Game app installs itself. They each begin to check their identities:
Numerous Civilians
1 Police Officer
1 Doctor
The Number of Mafia??? Unknown.
At first, it's played off as a joke and the class collectively votes out one person. But as midnight comes the bell sounds and another announcement is made saying that the student has been unanimously executed. The student starts groaning and holding his head as if he's in pain before he brutally throwing himself out of the window. What began as a seemingly harmless deduction game quickly turns into a race of survival and a desperate attempt to stay alive.
What follows is a mysterious game of death and deception as fellow classmates begin to die one by one. An epic battle of wits, cruel mind games, and supernatural phenomena show the psychological struggles during extreme situations and complex relationships of the students. Not to mention just how easy emotions can impact one another at crucial moments and the cruel reality of today's society.
Throughout the chaos and pandemonium, the citizens must vote out the mafia in order to live, while the mafia go on a rampage murdering anyone to survive. During the game, many unexplainable things start happening. Is there some supernatural force at play or is the class not really alone?
Lee Yoon Seo - With her keen observation skills and reasoning is determined to find out the mafias and the truth behind the game.
Kim Jun Hee - Tries to balance a sense of justice and responsibility as the Class President, but breaks down at his classmates' deaths.
Oh Jung Won - A tech genius who seems to follow the majority, but her eyes hold a dark secret.
Go Kyung Jun - A bully who believes he's at the head of an autocracy/dictatorship and instills fear in anyone who goes against him.
Jin Da Beom - A seemingly quiet kid who endures bullying but a hidden anger resides in him.
Kim So Mi - The quick-witted and manipulative Class Vice President who will do anything to avoid suspicion.
This drama was thrilling to watch. Not only does it keep you guessing, but you're constantly on the edge of your seat wanting to watch more. At times you'll be intrigued and other times you'll be frustrated with how the students play the game. Their acting will play mind games with you, will make you yell in frustration and other times it will touch your heart just how much some people care about others. There were several plot twists and the odd plot hole, but overall a very fascinating watch and an invigorating experience.

Good plotline, catastrophic execution.
Night has come despite its captivating narrative, ultimately falls short due to subpar execution and lackluster acting, leaving me as watcher with mixed feelings. The show kicks off with a promising start, weaving a very different concept full of suspens and mystery which kept me at the edge of my seat. Unfortunately, the downfall lies in the execution of this kdrama.
One glaring issue is the TERRIBLE ACTING of the female lead, the most glaring flaw is the repetitive and wooden acting displayed by the actress. While the character is diverse and have the potential for depth, the actress seems trapped in a cycle of limited expressions and monotony. It's disheartening to witness pivotal scenes undermined by a lack of emotional range, as character struggles . Furthermore, as the show came to it's end the anticipation surrounding the ending transforms into disappointement, as the series concludes with a unnecessery plot-twist which left me confused and with too many questions. As for the unresolved plotholes formed through the execution that's another thing to discuss!
Despite these critical flaws, Night has come manages to maintain a curious hold on me. The allure of the overarching mystery keeps me invested, despite the show's evident shortcomings.

Started goo but ending ruins the whole show for me
The episodes should've been an hour long, having them range from 30-45 minutes hurt the show. If they made the episodes longer they would have had time to show how Se Eun was being bullied, by who, and for how long she was being socially isolated from everyone. Showing how each character was hurting her(intentionally or not) would've made the parent's motivation make a little more sense, i.e. a character did't actively bully her but didn't talk to her and maybe ignored her to save themselves from also being bullied. That being said from what i understand there was only ONE bullying episode and i understand it was bad but to me it wasn't believable that she killed herself over that one thing, it would've made more sense if there were multiple things happening and that was the tipping point, maybe even her best friend stopped being friends with her. It also seemed like she killed herself right after she found out which again didn't make it believable, if after that incident a month passed and nothing got better and her best friend wasn't talking to her then it would make sense.
There are a lot of unanswered questions as well involving character backstories( the swimming pool PTSD for one thing) which were never touched on and the "ghost" concept which seemed to have been forgotten(sadly, because i really liked it). There is going to be a second season so maybe they'll explain even in passing but I don't know.
The very last thing at the end why are the mafia allowed to kill more than one person? if that was the case why didn't one of the characters try and kill everyone to end the game? and why put the representation of your dead daughter with everyone? why not leave her out?

WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK
Ok let's start Honestly at the beginning of this drama I really like it and when thgame started there were some people I wanted dead but let's be real number 1: Honestly the Mafias could have won this long ago and it was very dragged on number 2: I was sick of Jun-hee's righteous/sorry boy act like I get that he was traumatized or something but you don't have to act like your world revolves around that number 3: that Kyung-jun bastard I mean everyone was trying to survive why did you have to go and kill almost all of them honestly I love these Kdramas but anytume I see any bullying tbing it gets really fucking frustrating and Lastly, Se-eun's mother is a huge bitch hiw could she trap children under the pretext of getting fucking revenge I mean yes her daughter died but not everyone was involved in it why would she do that to Innocent CHILDREN for Christ's sake I love Jung won and in short this drama was a very good one and the writers did a very good job but I hated the ending it was so stupid and I wish there's a season 2 but I doubt soWas this review helpful to you?

The ending…
This show was really good it kept you on your toes and had unexpected surprises. But there were things that were mentioned that felt like it just became irrelevant after like junhee’s swimming fear. And once kyungjun died the show felt more plain and kinda dry. Then they ending was very unsatisfying because it felt rushed and the parents whole reasons was honestly kinda stupid because what does the whole class have to do with your daughter’s death then saying yoonseo just watched her die (she clearly didn’t) it didn’t really add up. Personally the only way I can be somewhat satisfied with this ending if there was a S2 or more episodes where they actually get free. But it’s still worth the watch because the cast did a flawless job.Was this review helpful to you?

SPOILERS, GOOD WATCH
I read so many bad reviews, but I honestly felt like this was a good watch and I would probably rewatch it again with a friend to be honest. The acting was okay everyone was talking about how bad it was I never noticed the bad acting. I was at the edge of my seat the whole time really. I will say the ending KINDA disappointed me not at AAALLL what I was expecting it to be. Kind of a black mirror thing going on there. Kinda wish the ending was better but good watch overall for sure ! Please watch it !!Was this review helpful to you?

Among us, squid games, Alice in borderland, all of us are dead all mixed into one drama and still no closureIt’s funny as someone who played among us, I’ve played so many games, I was the imposter, I was the accused crew, and basically I lied and deducted things way better
But just like among us after a while, it became a kids game , so this drama just feels like a teen watch but with horrible characters and worse acting

A Hit or a Miss?
When this drama was out, I couldn't patiently wait for the next episode, because of the plot twists and the story which made me nervous. The acting was great and the storyline is interesting with multiple theories but I was disappointed with the bad ending. About the characters, most are straight-up dumb, and their decisions are too childish, the only reason that this drama was exciting is because of the MAFIAs. Although this is not the best, I really enjoyed the feeling of having uncountable questions in my head, yeah, it did answer most of those questions in the end but it felt rushed. And also, Where are their parents and family members?? How do Se-eun's parents manage to kidnap them for the stupid video game, only because of the reason they ignore their daughter?!?! Like seriously, they also are the same, they should've comforted and supported her before, not just blamed other kids who have their own life to care for.
Overall, this is not a bad drama, I enjoyed it through out the show even though I don't like the end. This lacks storyline but the performances were nice, a gud drama to watch if you love this kind of genre.

Finish this season first
The ending of this drama kept setting up season 2 that it forgot to wrap up it's this season first, and it sucks.I actually don't have that much of a problem with this drama, sure the writing isn't top notch, and some characters were annoying, but apart from other minor nitpicks, it was still a solid and entertaining show. My only gripe with it is the inclusion of Se Eun. She was such a.. nothing character. We don't know who she is and we learn next to nothing of her other than that she was bullied and committed suicide. Which sucks the most because she's such an important character, she's basically the catalyst for the entire show and yet we don't care about her. The ending expects you to sympathize with the parents but it's hard to do that because we knew next to nothing about Se Eun, we didn't form any emotional bonds with her as a character and we were never given a chance to do so.
I feel what would've been better is a flashback episode dedicated to bringing Se Eun to light and showing the viewers who she is as a character, it should've shown So Min and the rest of the mafia/bullies as horrible people so their deaths become all the more satisfying. They also should've shown the aftermath of the deepfake thing to really nail in just how much Se Eun suffered and make the viewers sympathize with her even more. It just shows her getting teased for like a minute and then done. What? Maybe they could've shown Se Eun getting harassed by other male characters, or her losing out on opportunities because of the video, all of it which would impact her in great ways. But alas it just falls back onto the main problem that we don't know who Se Eun reallt is. It would've cleared so much mystery surrounding her character and maybe made the viewers actually care about the parents and her su!cide.
Which brings me back to my main point, the writers kept on setting up a season 2 that they forgot to finish this season first. The endings sucked because it was very clearly just a segue to the next season and not actually an ending to this one. I'm not sure if this drama has been renewed already, but I sure hope so if the writers are so confident in centering the entire season's ending as a segue to season 2. If it hasn't been renewed yet though, well that would've been just pointless.

It's just not the best of the year because I watched Twinkling Watermelon
In my entire life, I have never watched a drama that left me as outraged as this one. But not in a bad way, but in a WONDERFUL way.I admit that I started watching without any expectations, but finish it anyway as if I had seen the greatest masterpiece in the world.
Some may find the plot tiring or the ending meaningless and unnecessary, but in my opinion the ending was perfect!
I had some Duty after school dejavus, it made things more tense while I watched and the experience was 100 times better!
This definitely became my top 2 of dramas watched in 2023

No brainer impression, but that's not the case
I don't get why nobody's doing justice to this series 💀 it was actually quite entertaining but the amount of negative remarks gives off the impression that the show was a no brainer. I was waiting for this to come for so long, i had it on my plan to watch way before the show was even out and i was really excited to watch it the moment it's out but i felt like waiting for it to end so i can binge watch. But when i came back i saw all these negative remarks about the ending and also about how the show was a no brainer that i just kept putting it off to watch later but yesterday i wanted to give it a try at last. I was trying to finish the series on my plan to watch and so i ending up finished the series in less than a day. Here's what i genuinely want to say:
- The plot twists were plot twisting
- The storyline is NOT weak as other reviews make it out to be. Yes, the character backstories weren't explained in depth but only shown as glimpses and something that was implied (understanding from the situations) and I don't think I'd blame them for that because they were probably trying to make us live in the moment by using only one location mostly throughout the series. Showing an entire backstory detail to detail would have taken our mind off of the current situation and the MAIN focus of the series (the game) and it wouldn't make the game go in the flow.
- the ending is unhappy yes but unhappy in the sense, not a poor thought ending but an ending were the characters aren't happy WHICH makes the viewers unhappy.
- I saw some reviews and thought that some viewers just skipped through the series because there weren't any parts that wasn't completely left blank to the audience just a few things that the audience themselves have to figure out and it really isn't something that has to be spelled out for us to understand.
- about how the games rules work now listen like im pretty sure even the players weren't sure abt how the game works bc they only found out the rules as they played through the game. Like they only thought of killing everyone AFTER they got both the mental strength to do that and also after the incident with the death of the doctor. And it's not like they all had the intension to kill anyone literally right after they got in the game lol they were literally trying to process everything. Then after a few nights they start to adapt to this whole killing and dying thing and so they finally becomes ruthless as the episode goes.
i might've missed more things but that's not the point i want to make. The point i want to make is if you're one of those who are debating whether to watch or not I'd say go for it bc personally i felt that this series it misunderstood to be really badly executed. Ofc i wouldn't say this is the best way it could've been executed bc you never know how much better it could've been done but nevertheless this is still good enough. ^^
ps. i don't rewatch anything and so i didn't want to put a rewatch value so don't mind that.
