400 years ago, Do Min Joon came to Earth from an alien planet and saved Seo Yi Hwa, who was in critical danger. 400 years later, Cheon Song Yi became an idol. Song Yi moves to her new home, which is right next to Min Joon's. The two of them met for the first time, and Song Yi mistook Min Joon for a fan of hers. Thus, the conflict happened. In a few months, Min Joon is going back to his planet; before that, Min Joon wants to meet the little girl that he saved a decade ago once more. Right then, Song Yi comes into his life. (Source: Viu)

Deliberate and intentional writing with some research behind it

In first episode they are showing this self-centered, unlikeable celebrity that only cares about herself. Some depth is shown in her character for the sake of hooking the audience but realistically we wouldn't see any depth at this point to her if she was a real person. What really made me appreciate this episode was that when attractive neighbor confronts her for being too loud in her apartment she followed DARVO - Deny, Attack, and Reverse-Victim-and-Offender - perfectly, trying to manipulate him into apologizing to her, assure her and put her on pedestal. And what really showed me that writers knew exactly what they are doing was that he didn't react, he just went to read while she was loudly crying in her apartment. I hope next episodes show even better care for writing because in this episode things were a bit too accelerated for the sake of introduction.

An average start, with some promise.

Besides the sci-fi elements this was a pretty average start. Sure there's promise. To be quite honest I don't care for either leads at this point, but there's room to develop them.

My first glaring issue is that Song Yi is apparently a classic airhead/stupid lead. Though I do enjoy the take on how quickly everyone is to immediately start bashing her. It's true with social media. One minute you're praising them, the next there's blood in the water and everyone is a bully.

Min Joon's is the smart and cold lead. With glimpses of the past when he first landed on our planet his warmth is apparent, it's clear that living that long and watching everyone die has made him cold. Though I wonder how smart he is if he hasn't jumped on silencing head phones? Though I guess if he can hear through sound proof apartments the poor guy is screwed. But . . . what if he was on his planet he wouldn't have this issue? Wouldn't they have mediation things so they could block out the noise and sleep.

There's already some glaring issues with the science here. That's okay, there's room for explanations later.

The setup for reincarnations/fated love is nicely developed. Min Joon's minions are really cute and I hope they're a part of the story and not just obligatory side characters. The third wheel of the love triangle is nice, Hui Kyung, and I already feel bad for him! Overall it's an all right start.

so good for a first episode :)

The first episode was well done. I love that there was no lingering to get to the point and the main role Do Min Joon style is so cool! :D
I was just a little confuse but that made me want to watch more. The part where Cheon Song Yi is the girl and what not. I cannot wait to see how this drama unfolds

Ooooo, Interesting!

I rate this as an 9. I feel the very very start is greatness. The introduction of the main character "Do Min Joon" was well done and they really do put you in his state of mind toward Earth etc. So that's 10 minutes in. Time for main character #2, "Cheon Song Yi". Wow she's not too bright, we get that impression right away. Spoiled, strong willed and all that. Certainly not too likable so far. You do feel bad for her mid way but hey, looks like she is her own worst enemy. At this stage it's kind of hard to picture these two getting together thus I think this is why I found it kind of hard to motivate myself for Ep 2 (which now at ep 19, I think, "OMG this show is the best and WTF was I thinking???") KEEP WATCHING Srly!

Good

This episode was good but I'm not impressed (yet). I was bored most of the times and the main female character was the only thing really interesting about this episode. Maybe it'll take me a few episodes to really get into it.

Surprisingly solid.

Not as draggy or slow to enter into the main storyline as most first episodes, also not rife with disgusting potty humor or over the top acting. Typically I hate first episodes of even the best kdrama, but this one was actually pretty fun and strong overall. Will definitely continue this series.

Mixed bag of goodies

7.5 is a fair score from me. At times I was bored, at times I found it too cheesy, but at times I was giggling and enjoying myself. Everyone saying this drama gets better & better, so I might (might!) check out episode 2, if I'm bothered. I can definitely see it developing to be something great.

Great Start!

Saving the girl...over and over.

Good thing he didn't wanted to get involved in the humans world.

A very stoical alien!

This is a very promising drama, as it didn't unveil its hidden cards in the first episode.
It showed us just enough to get hooked but not too much.
So far, the second female lead dosn't look like the mean type and the second male lead seems to be sincerely in love with Song Yi.

I can't wait to see more of this show!

Something new to me C:

I like how it starts rightaway tell the story (and they showed KSH's abs ;P)
And usually there's this ignorant and stupid woman who ends up being lonely. But in this drama the lead female was the "going to end up loner"-type! Awesome! :D
And everything supernatural is always extra good for romance dramas (;
There's great efects too! Big bonus!
If I have to say something negative I'd say that Jun Ji Hyun is too skinny o.o ! And end came tooo fast! C;
Start seems promising!
p.s this was my 1st review so it might be... awkward :D

First Episode Thoughts

The first episode was pretty good. There was definitely enough of a hook at the end to make me want to know what happened next.

There was quite a few moments I got bored but they weren't to overpowering.

I'm not sure I buy the lead couple just yet. I think mainly because their personalities just seem to be at such odds with one another.

Looking forward to the next episode.

So PERF

The first episode was so well paced I can't believe it was just 1 hour long

It's prefect, chemistry, Flashbacks even the ost
And EYE CANDY OVER LOAD
Fate brought them together and I just love Song Yi's personality she's so funny and her Singing is really something else xD

The first episode was so perfect!
I knew this would be a good drama!

I'm probably the least enamored with the first episode

A times, I found it boring and the narration a distraction. I guess if I was a fan for either leads, maybe I would be looking at it differently. I already see I'll feel sorry for YIN's character. So pitiful to love someone who loves someone else.

Please, keep this up.

I think this is going to be a great drama :D

Both leads are unusual and both pretty stoic. Great. The background stories seem interesting, like their previous meeting and also his history in Korea. But hey, it's only the first episode, often dramas drop after the first episodes, let's hope this won't be like that.

Like the story, the dynamics, Keep it Up!

Very, very good start.

So, I'd like to say a few things about this first episode.

Overall : a very good start, we are in the story already, so no draggy beginning. Also the plot is original, the characters are introduced, and the chemistry between the leads is promising. So far it's fun, hot and interesting. I'm sold. I will follow this drama for the next 10 weeks.

Now, a few things...

1st : SHOWER SCENE !!!!!!!
hm, needed to say that. It wasn't necessary but god that was good to see.

2nd : The nerdy library girl inside me is totally jealous of his apartment.

3rd : Only Kim Soo Hyun can make a class about insect copulation sound funny. And also kinda hot.

4th : So far I like the kind of couple they'll make, even if it's starting to remind me of Queen In-Hyun's man (the intellectual difference, the fact that she is a actress, the fact that he's stuck on modern korea when he actually want to go home), but I'm sure the drama will get its own originality.

5th : She's the girl that died long time ago, that he saw again a few years ago and wish to find but she actually doesn't remember him ? Moon/Sun much ? Naaaa, I don't care, I love those kind of plot. But still.

^^
