Soundtrack #2: A second chance love story

Soundtrack #2 tell the story of two ex-lovers who broke up due to unavoidable circumstances and problem. They meet again after 4 years but the thing is, sparks still fly between them, unsaid feeling still hurt.

TROPES- Ex-lover, rags to riches ML, strong willed FL, lovers to strangers to lover, love traingle.

Soundtrack #2 feels like a typical romance drama, except it's only a few hours long. But, the portrayal of the "lovers to strangers to lovers" trope/EX-LOVER trope feels very realistic and pragmatic.
The story is straightforward, but the manner in which it is told is entertaining.

We see the ML's POV and side of story both post and pre breakup, which is great BUT we never see the FL's POV. Which literally makes the FL look like the villian in their story. The ML's POV make you sympathize with him. His character is really likable and outgoing which again makes the FL's almost secretive and grumpy character look evrn more bad.
Even the FL's reason for the way she acted in the past and present were NOT strong enough to make me understand her. Honestly she felt like the problem.

Their acting was excellent though, specially the actor playing the ML. They were able to accurately convey the emotions of the characters. I don't have much to say about their performance. I enjoyed their chemistry.

The music was also okayish, like i didn't really find a single song i would love to add to my Playlist.

This is a nice drama to watch if you want something short. There isn't much else to say about this brief drama but it was nice enough to watch if you are bored.

FL character was sooo annoying!

I really disliked the character of the FL. Her personal issues were really annoying. She couldn’t accept help from anyone. I’m glad she finally realized how selfish and self centered she was. The ML truly loved her but she didn’t even love herself. She had no redeeming qualities which makes the love story overall less appealing. The ML was always very accommodating and loving even in his pursuit of success his focus was their future together. She on the other hand had no real vision for the future. it’s bittersweet overall and it’s not the type of romance I prefer.

Started good but went down hill by the end

S2 was kind of a letdown. The ending felt rushed and looked like after all the shit that happened they just wanted to give a happy ending and be done with it.

FL is still the same, living with the same confused mindset of feeling indebted to ML till the end and will probably remain like that forever cuz that just who she is and ML he just can't move on from her no matter how many time she crushes his heart.

The love triangle was pure crap and added nothing to the story or character arcs . SML was of no use just dragged the story and nothing else.

Till the last 15 min they are the same with neither of them finding any closure and suddenly out of nowhere he follows her to airport and she accepts him. There was zero character development for both the leads till the end.

For me the ending would have been better had she left alone and found the closure she is looking for while him moving on too, accepting the reality that they both just won't fit together. Maybe seeing each other a few years later from afar happy with their own lives.

This entire fairytale dancing ending crap didn't fit the story

Soundtrack No 2 as in less good than Soundtrack No 1

This was a short yet inconsistent drama in form of pace and the ability to keep my attention.

The chemistry between the three leads is kind of off, the romance feels meeh... and I kept thinking to myself she is probably better off single than with a guy who clearly does not understand her at all.

That said I liked the female lead quite a bit for being human, fun and showing a range of emotions done well, however the other characters just fell short both in lovabilaty for the character and also in terms of delivery of lines.

The music is kind of sweet, the shots go between "oh this is pretty" to "oh I feel dizzy"

An okay watch bit not so much more...

Very disappointing and underwhelming - don't bother watching

Putting soundtrack #1 to the side for a moment... soundtrack #2 was NOT good. Story concept-bad. Acting-bad. Music!-bad. I don't understand how they made such a bad drama. Truly, it escapes my understanding.

Now, with s#1 in the picture... how can they even place this drama in the same 'universe'?!?! The filming, music, and acting styles were all totally different to the 'original' amazing show that captivated me and got me to watch it 3 times. I have many songs from the OST saved, but the songs in this show made me want to skip ahead. The acting was so-so. It could either be because of their skills, editing, or the lacking story and character development.

Overall I'm very disappointed. I stopped at ep.3 after struggling to watch through those first eps. for a couple of days. Weeks later I came back and tried again, having to jump through the other 3 eps to finish it.

This show is not salvageable and would need a complete redo to be worth watching in my opinion. Wish it was good, truly, but it isn't. Better just rewatch s#1.

soundtrack #2, find meaning between love and passion through music and relationships.

Soundtrack #2 is definitely one of those underrated series and how it was also a different type of trope than the first season. I love how it goes and how it was really realistic to think about relationships as lovers. I have never felt the way the characters or even in kdramas, but I could feel the reality of this one. The first season was friends to lovers, but this one was from lovers to strangers, to vice versa. I love how the point of the plot was really present in their story. But not really comparing both seasons but I love their composed story in a different aspect of love. And also, really appreciate the development of the female lead from this season. How Do Hyun Seo grows apart from her past heartbreak, defining her purpose from her love between relationship and passion to music. Furthermore, the love story between Do Hyun Seo and Ji Soo Hon was a great chemistry and love their development due to hardships, passion, and their purpose. I'll not make this note too long, but in a short of time, I really appreciate the second season and how it delivers a good and comforting purpose as a viewer :)) How I wish it must be longer like 8 eps but it was just a short process of learning their path and where they belong back together... Added it to my favorites <3

I really love the casting here. But felt quite sad not all had great on-screen time duration nowadays since kdramas nowadays only have short duration of episodes not exceeding 16 eps. I love Geum Sae Rok's role from here ever since my first encounter with her from a kdrama series as a supporting role from Class Of Lies. Love how she entered the main role!! I also loved her character from here and I don't think I hated her from the beginning because every choices someone could make has a purpose in life that even Hyun Seo can't blame herself from struggling.

Next, I love the two male leads, Steve Noh as Ji Soo Hon and Demian as K. I really can't tell them more about it yet since I discovered them first from this drama especially this short series was Demian's first debut role and I appreciate how I discovered him first and in an earliest time!! Phewwww Steve Noh was really handsome and I fell in love in his role from here and their chemistry with Geum Sae Rok was amazing! I really love both their roles from this drama and how they portrayed and played it well. Hoping that Steve Noh and Geum Sae Rok will reunite with a new romance drama :')) Rooting the main casts future project roles!!

Those where the reasons why I love this drama, and everyone needs to give it a try. I think patience is the key and try to learn and understand the female leads choices :)

It was underwhelming. I am a sucker for happy endings, but here I wouldn't mind if they stayed broken up in the end.
Having said that, the chemistry between the two actors is undeniable, their acting is top notch, the story just feels too rushed towards the end. Maybe 2 more eps would have helped? There needed to be a growth shown for the FL's character. We accept that she is flawed, we want her to succeed, we root for her. The ML too, he is right in his ways, he is strong and goes for his goals, and achieves them, but he is a doormat when it comes to his feelings for the FL. He can't think straight and is completely blind in love.
They both have flaws, it makes sense that they come together and stay together.. We just need a little more justification as to why they choose to do this in the end.

Hoping for More Depth in This Series

The storyline of this series struck me as a bit awkward. When they returned, the same old relationship problem resurfaced, and the resolution seemed a bit too swift for my liking. The process of dealing with the issue and getting back on track felt somewhat rushed. What caught my attention, or rather, what didn't quite sit right with me, was the FL's character transformation. It appeared simplified, merely by accepting ML's help with her bag at the airport.

In my opinion, this series missed an opportunity to delve into the intricacies of how the characters compromise and evolve to make their relationship work. The focus on these essential aspects could have added depth and authenticity to the storyline. Instead, the series opted for a quicker resolution, and as a result, the ending feels somewhat forced into a happy conclusion. I believe a more detailed exploration of their journey could have given the series a more satisfying and genuine feel.

Third time is the charm.

If the first Soundtrack story was a beautiful love story about two friends falling in love, then Soundtrack #2 it's a bittersweet melody about two people who can't seem to get it right. Not matter how much you care for someone, sometimes love isn't enough and you have to let time and space give you perspective to understand why things didn't work out with that person.

Some couples have to try hard at their relationship. It may be because of different upbringings, POV on life or individual issues. No relationship it's perfect, timing can be tricky and life make things difficult. The characters own personal issues also stand in their way but the important thing to take from this love song it's that when you find the person who makes you happy, you try to make it work until the very end. Even if it takes two or three times. Even if it means letting them go more than once.

The Soundtrack Anthology remains one of the best productions coming from South Korea and I hope that we get many more stories from this world.

Cliché, so what?

I guess, I watched this at the right moment for me: I needed something light, fluffy, with minimal angst and drama. And I got exactly what I asked for. And liked it a lot finding it almost perfect until they hit us with the last episode. This is a story of second chances at love, rectifying past mistakes, repeating the same errors, learning from others, growing as a person, accepting one's flaws, getting better.

Four years ago, they were poor but in love, he had big dreams, she worried a lot. Until she could not stand it any more and she broke up with him. He went on to become a successful internet producer while she stayed down in the doldrums, trying to find a way out and failing, repeatedly. She has a big chip on her shoulder, huge inferiority complex and refuses to accept kindness and help from others. They meet again, sparks fly and in spite of past unresolved conflicts they start dating again. But it is, again, a disaster! Until she finally realizes the error of her ways and mends herself and her relationship. He is a saint basically! He loves her and forgives her all her mistakes and wrong judgements while she holds him responsible for making her feel inferior. All he wants is to help her achieve her dreams, be there for her. She gets it wrong every time. He asks to talk everything out, while she keeps saying he does not understand her without explaining anything. Talk to him so he can understand you, you idiot!

I liked the story. It is nothing new or groundbreaking just a story of second and third chances at love. The first five episodes were extremely well paced and the story flowed nicely with them bickering and fighting, him trying to push out gently the other man in the picture, nice and caring friends (who of course crush on each other!). And then they almost ruined everything with the last episode which was rushed, illogical and unnecessary! So halfway through another one of her depressions, she has an epiphany, gets aware of all her errors and gets back with him! She definitely needs therapy! This is where dramas go so wrong: being in love cures all ills! No! She was traumatized by her injury which stopped her from playing the piano professionally but she never addressed the problem!

This is more of a disappointed rant than a review. I still enjoyed it but it could have been much better!

Unsatisfying Second-Chance Romance with a handsome Steven Noh

Soundtrack #2 is another short series with music in the backdrop. This time, the drama focuses on a second-chance romance, which is a trope that I like. Unfortunately, and as other reviewers have said, it’s not a satisfying drama. I don’t quite remember what happened in Soundtrack #1 aside from the friends-to-lovers theme. So this review is based solely on this drama.

Although the acting is fine and everyone is nice to look at (did you see Steven Noh’s chiseled and masculine face? ? ), the writing is lacking. I am missing the longing, the angst and the sizzling chemistry from the leads. The first part of the drama is more interesting with the supposedly love triangle and a jealous ML. Kei is cute and sweet, but we know he’s never a contender. I do enjoy the music he was making with FL, but the song was played so much that I got a little bored.

The drama did not do a good job in resolving the problems from the past. As much as I love the kisses, the lingering problems are still present. It tries to resolve that by showing us FL’s enlightenment of her problem but was done unconvincingly and too late. Viewers don’t see FL’s point of view until very late in the drama and by that point, I don’t think she deserves ML anymore. The ending also doesn’t quite make sense when ML showed up. They need to either break up or temporarily separate before meeting again. FL needs to work on herself before rushing into another relationship.

I will only recommend this drama if you want to look at the handsome Steven Noh, or want something really short to kill time.

Reuniting

A bittersweet drama about reuniting with each other. Their relationship was soo honest they had such different lives but attracted one another in other ways. They found what made them happy but had to let go of each other more than once to make it work in the end ? The ML has such a strong personality and never gives up on his dreams and proves everyone wrong but when he comes to love he’s such a softie, the FL is a hardworking character that doesn’t want to get in people way but really loves people dearly just doesn’t know how to express them.

- I’m shocked why this drama how lower rating compared to #1 but this is such a bittersweet drama that makes you cry.
