Just an average drama
This drama is just okay, nothing too special. The two main leads give good performances, but the story feels kind of been-there-done-that. It's like they took bits and pieces from other Korean dramas and mashed them together. I mean, we've seen the whole "rich mom adopts an orphan" thing a million times before. And of course, her greedy biological kids only care about her money and pretend to be nice after she dies, but they're just trying to grab everything for themselves. However, the adopted child, armed with determination and resilience, stands up against their nefarious actions, striving to protect what is rightfully theirs.
The problem is, even though it's only been five episodes, the drama is already getting repetitive. It's like they're just going in circles without adding anything new. The initial excitement has fizzled out, and it feels like a chore to keep watching.
I don't know about you, but I like dramas that bring something fresh to the table. Yeah, the performances are good, but that's not enough to save a drama that's stuck in the same old clichés. They need to take some risks and surprise us with something unexpected.
In short, this drama is just average. The performances are decent, but the story is lacking in originality. It's like a mixtape of overused plots and tropes. Hopefully, things pick up in the upcoming episodes and give us something to really get hooked on.

Overrated.
I started watching My Demon without expectation when I found it on new released in netflix. I'm quite okay with yoojung and songkang so I gave it a go eventho I'm not a fantasy-this-genre fans. The first few episodes was okay but still fun. Here was some of my impressions while watching it:- Their 0 chemistry. I expect more from yoojung tbh, they are beautiful but I couldn't feel the connection
- the staring contest is too much. Why slow mo and paused everytime they look at each other. This was very annoying for me.
- the obsessive dancer. I skipped her part
- The assistant.. he's so one dimensional. Well.. almost all characters are one dimensional.
- The villain was more like demon than the demon itself. He knew everything, be at the right place, powerful. And the demon was so useless and stupid.
- They killed the grandma too soon. She's one of the few interesting character
At least I still stay to watch because I want to know what's next until ep 9 when they start to be lovey dovey out of nowhere (it is for me, the have no chemistry) and the story was going nowhere I had enough and dropped this.
The ongoing drama along with my demon like Samdalri, Park's Marriage Contract, Marry My Husband eventually grabbed my attention more and I dropped this one.
Have a lot of potential, but really too shallow and childish for my taste. The chemistry between the leads was bad. The story was bad. The side characters were not interesting. What a waste of such a big budget. The cinematography was good tho, it shows it's expensive budget.
My demon reminded me to not watch this genre anymore because the logic wont fit however I want to understand it.
No, i wont recommended this to anyone if you are not a teenager. Maybe if you are a teen you will love this so much because you haven't watch much Kdrama enough to be fed up with this one 😂

Chemistry between leads is the only thing working for this drama.
If I'd watched this drama in my kdrama beginning fangirl years 14 years ago, I'd have been head over heels. But after coming down that lane this far, this is no longer enough for me. It's too superficial, concentrating on visuals and not an actual story (personal opinion please)There's nothing that makes me wait for that next episode, and the visuals are getting less tempting by day as a result, please if you read books, this story is not really all that fresh, the trope is saturated. I wish them a good run anyway, and an even better success in their next drama.

A Worthwhile Watch
My demon is a fantasy kdrama centered around a demon, Jeong Gu Won who looses his power to a young heiress, Do Do Hee (transfer of tattoo). In his quest to get back his tattoo, Gu Won becomes Do Hee's bodyguard and eventually marries her. The marriage is contract based and mutually beneficial. As he safeguards and protects Do Hee from life threatening attacks, Gu Won could monitor her and keep an eye on his tattoo which was on her wrist. Gradually, they develop romantic feelings for each other. The storyline is thorough and interesting. The drama captures the reality of being adopted into a powerful family. It is not all lovely and rosy especially when it has to do with properties. Also, the drama gives insight into the fact that Gu Won's encounter with Do Hee was fated. They actually had a past life together as YiSun and Wolshim and were lovers. Additionally, I liked how the drama provided a back story on the series of events that led into Gu Won becoming a demon. It was impressive.
The drama has powerful and engaging scenes that would keep you hooked. The highlight and centerpiece of the drama is the tango scene. That iconic dance scene will surely go down in kdrama history. Everything about the scene was just pleasant to watch.
One of the distinct features of this drama is its wonderful cast, whose performances keep viewers on the edge of their seats. Each actor nailed their respective roles.
The chemistry between the leads, Jeong Gu Won (Song Kang) and Do Do Hee (Kim Yoo Jung) was sizzling. They showcased a convincing act of young love that is passionate and beautiful. This makes viewers' hearts flutter.
The OSTs were great and I loved all of them especially the introduction song; True by Yoari.
A point of criticism for me has to do with the love triangle. For a couple who were already doomed due to their piteous fate, the love triangle wasn't necessary. It was great that it ended quickly giving DoHee and GuWon the chance to love themselves as much as time would allow.
Another point of criticism has to do with the scene where Gu Won disappeared. That scene looked so much like a scene in Goblin. There are a lot of creative and artistic choices she could have made use of but she chose to do the exact same thing to the extent that it was the same clothing color. It looked as though she copied the scene vividly from the other drama. That was really disappointing.
Nonetheless, I found the drama interesting and worthwhile.

THE CHEMISTRY !!!!!!!!!!!! [insert flame emojis]
Definitely worth the watch. Worth the hype. One of the best dramas of 2023.Came for the visuals of the leads and stayed for their CHEMISTRY. Great fake dating to lovers trope. Strong female CEO.
Storyline was good too. A little predictable in parts but nevertheless an entertaining watch from start to finish.
Side note: the gangsters are hilarious and provide great comedic relief. All their scenes had me in stitches. Koreans always do such a good job with comedy. LOVED THEM.

Letdown by this supernatural-romance series
I love supernatural series such as Lucifer, Angel, Buffy, iZombie so I had high hopes on 'My Demon'. This series felt like a Korean version of Twilight. So much potential not explored, I decided to drop this series halfway through. What I like
1. The song by NewJeans
2. Do Do Hee's fashion
3. Episode 1 was beautifully shot.
4. Park Bok Kyu & Ms Shin's banter
What I dislike
1. Do Do Hee's characterisation - I want to scream out my frustrations. The character is written like a Harlequin romance novel from the 90s. She started off as a clear-headed, no-nonsense CEO but episode 2 onwards, she became easily distracted/influenced by Gu-Won. Wish she struck partnership with Gu-Won like a business deal - weigh the cost of benefits and risks. Negotiate a protection and a marriage deal that benefits you too - I don't like that Gu-Won dictated the terms and Do Hee easily agreed.
2. Gu-Won's characterisation - I don't like Jeong Gu-Won. I expected cockiness but his arrogance, solemn & cold demeanour irked me. I wish he enjoyed his demonic responsibility and had cheeky personality like Lucifer.
3. Too much push in the romance angle too. Not enough supernatural moments.
4. Ga Young's clinginess annoyed me.
5. Slapstick comedy is fine for some episodes but get tiresome after awhile.
6. Song Kang's acting - I feel that he's miscast in this series. I'd like to see Woo Do Hwan as Gu-Won because he was mighty fine in Divine Fury and he'd be up against Lee Sang Yi's character to win over Do Hee's heart.
7. Reincarnation/past lives trope - I am tired of this trope since it's also used in other dramas released around same time such as The Story of Park's Marriage Contract, Moon in the Day.
Favourite scene
When Do Hee first met Gu-Won. The cake!

Moving On ...
Finally on eps 9 i tap out.Came the Opponent big reveal... and it was what everyone already knew !!
Theres a few side stories that are so silly that have no content or purpose ( The never ending rehearsals, and the gang that follows him around ...)
I confess , that it confuses me when the male lead has more makeup then the female lead , and he plays some macho moments ... hard not to do some eye rolling in the process .
She's gorgeous , hope to see her in future projects .
And he was so much better in "Sweet Home "
i have tried ...moving on

Snob yet awesome
Snob, arrogant, obnoxiousThis Demon holds no respect for our endearing Goblin, charming Grim Reaper and nor to evergreen Vampires (He dismisses them as mosquitoes). But his perfect arrogance hits a roadblock named Do Doo Hee in whose hand his cross sign goes away. What follows are a constant rift between a rising business woman and a non nonsense demon who gets entangled in marital bliss even! But is there anything more to that...
Well, the ragged woman whose tethered smile ignites spark about entwined fate, but how they are connected!!!!
The last two episode reflected on a whole new segment. From unfurling connection between D do hee and demon to emotional change of Doo hee witnessing the hell by her own eyes raised many question.
Demon ends up as Do Doo Hee's personal hell, but isn't that true for every human...the personal we love most is the one we loathe most!!!!
The series has been a fun ride. The cute banter between Do Do Hee a nd Demon in the beginning gave the much needed base audience expect in their favorite couple. Song Kang and Yoo Jung is a fresh couple whose both on screen rapport made the show more delightful. Kim Hae Sook as Ms. Ju and Jin Ga Young as Star Jin add the glamour quotient in the fantasy tale. Star Jin's elegant exit outlined a new graph for female second lead. Kang Seong Ho as eccentric Noh Do Gyeong successfully piques interest. Lee Sang -yi is becoming delicious second lead more and more. After playing hard boy in Bloodhound, he is again returning to his soft boy era.
The storyline is not a surprise but the overall presentation made it a fun watch.

Promising demon-human plot in "My Demon" fails with clichés & slow burn.
"Ugh, 'My Demon' started off with so much promise! A human stuck with a demon? Sign me up for that enemies-to-lovers angst! But let me tell you, this drama went from exciting to frustrating faster than you can say 'supernatural contract.'The characters, who could have been complex and intriguing, were just walking clichés. The demon dude was the brooding bad boy we've seen a million times, and the human girl? Helpless damsel in distress central. I yearned for some depth, some spark between them, but instead got...obligation masquerading as romance. Major let down.
And don't even get me started on the world-building! It felt like they threw in some vague ideas about demon lore and then called it a day. Where was the explanation? The depth? The whole mythology felt like a missed opportunity. It was like the writers dangled a cool backstory over our heads and then yanked it away, leaving us with nothing but questions and a furrowed brow.
To top it all off, the pacing was slower than a sloth on a sugar crash. I kept waiting for the plot to take off, for something exciting to happen, but...nada. Maybe if the story wasn't such a slog and the characters had some personality, But nope, 'My Demon' was a disappointment on all fronts.
It's like they had the recipe for a fantastic fantasy romance, but forgot to add any flavor.

Do Kyung and his messed up family
Let me preface by saying, I am not trying to justify any of Do Kyung's actions. This is simply an analysis on his character. Yes, he's done bad things and should face the consequences. With that being said, I hate how his mental health is being handled in the drama. Not the way it's written per se but how a few characters handle it.His Dad
Literally all of what Do Kyung is facing right now stemmed from how he was brought up. Having to be perfect at everything and putting on a facade for the cameras. His dad showed NO interest in him beyond his "offerings." An example being: "is he good enough to be my heir?,"is he good enough to commit such a crime?" He has also had to prove himself in his own family and that can cause a person's psyche to become altered and disrupted. His dad to me is also a victim and I'll expound later in Chairwoman Jo's paragraph. Him calling Do Kyung a monster is quite ironic as well. Who could've created such a monster, I wonder? Let me guys know if you ever come up with an answer.
His Mom
She's a victim as well. She's very submissive and lacks agency. Her helplessness and naivety is actually quite scary as this makes her a tool that the father can use at anytime. Her scene in the prison where she visited Do Kyung actually had me tearing up. That was what led me to even start writing this. Just her one statement, "You disobeyed your dad." That just showed how she herself can't do anything without approval from the dad. I don't even think she realizes the damage she's done to the poor child. Her also just moving on with her life after seeing her son breaking down infront of her just goes again to show how disconnected she really is. And even at the funeral, she looked like she had so much to say but she just wasn't able to. Her entire marriage all she's known is serving her husband and being a "good wife" of course nothing else will come before that. Not even her son.
Do Kyung
Do Kyung making such a choice is understandable to say the least. As someone who has struggled with mental health. Such a method has always been seen as the way out. Notice I didn't say easy. Because such a choice is NEVER easy. Poor guy wasn't even being treated while he was locked up in prison. Everyone putting the blame on him for EVERYTHING was so unnecessary and unfair as well. He was a jerk, evil and downright nasty but no one with mental health issues should be placed in such an environment. Especially without proper medication and care.
This is dedicated to the worst character of the show in MY OPINION.
His Doctor
Ohhhhh I was fuming when he called him a psycho. I was so annoyed. Do Kyung was a patient. He was actively seeking help in an environment that ostracized mental health issues. Yes, he may not have been the nicest, or taken his medication all the time but he was still trying. He was doing the best he could in an environment that wouldn't allow for much growth. And for someone who he was supposed to trust and tell his entire life to to say something like that was just downright nasty. No matter if he was a psycho or not. If the doctor had felt that he was a threat, then he should've reported him to the necessary authorities. Disrespecting a patient is never the right thing to do. I was so elated when Do Kyung beat his a** up. Leaped from my chair in joy.
Final Character
Chairwoman Jo
This is kinda hmmm. Like I think everything that we're seeing and all the characters in the Noh family all have their respective issues due to her. In a flashback we could see that she treated Suk Min similarly to how he treated Do Kyung. Talk about generational trauma. Of course Suk Min would've replicated what he was taught. In this specific scene she was talking about sending Suk Min to prison for a crime he had committed because he had gotten away with "too much." This literally shows that she had been sweeping all of his wrongs under the rug as she wanted someone picture perfect to take over her beloved company. Suk Min was never enough for her, similarly to how Do Kyung wasn't enough for him. She didn't care much for them.
I think that she saw an opportunity to right ALL her wrongs through Do Hee. Do Hee to her was a new slate. All the things she did with Suk Min and Su Ahn could've been "erased" by raising Do Hee in a less restrictive way. As she was able to do all this she decided to give Do Hee the company. I think that was very wrong. Of course Suk Min didn't create the company and it isn't "his" looking from it at a more Western perspective. As Chairwoman Jo built it from the ground up however, she had Suk Min training ALL his life with only one thought in mind. Him owning the company and carrying on her legacy. And for her to throw such a curve ball of course he'd be upset and pissed off. This is not me justifying all the rubbish he's done though. I'm just saying I would be very upset if I were in his position. As such, I think Chairwoman Jo is kinda the biggest villain in a sense. Because all these "monsters" were created through her training and teachings. Plus episode 12 ending kinda proved me right in a sense.
So that is that. My little two cents on a few characters and why I think Do Kyung isn't the biggest of villains. Poor kid needed love and that wasn't given to him. Still he was disgusting jerk but he needed love. If he was given that care and Affection maybe he would've been different. If Suk Min, his dad was given more love and care and approval maybe he would've been different as well.

this kdrama is not overrated!!
Many people say that this drama is overrated but let me tell you, not at all! This drama deserves EVERITHINGIt has a good plot and for my taste it is perfect since it contains the main plot of the romance of the protagonists who are enemies to lovers with touches of comedy and for me what makes it more special is the plot with the mystery about who wants to kill dohee and everything behind that, family dramas and jealousy and who will inherit the company...
And the chemistry between the protagonists!!! I loved every scene between song kang and kim yoojung
In short, I love everything about this drama and I would watch it again and I will continue to love it. And I could say that it has become one of my favorite dramas, entering my top 5
