What is a boyfriend?

Palm became such a flirt! I think that is such a great character development, especially as he really struggled with where he fits in Nueng’s life for the bigger part of the main series. And Nueng being whiny and sassy? Yes, please! I think it shows that he feels better now, he is not so worried and high strung as he was in the main series. The amount of absolutely iconic and hilarious lines we got in this two episode special is crazy! My favorites are probably "What is a boyfriend?" and "In many dramas, the lord makes the servant his wife." Palm being someone who watches dramas is not something I expected.

The historical part of the series is done well too. I like the fact that the two switched roles from how they were in the main series. Palm as a lord and Nueng as his servant is a combination I didn’t know I needed. I think Palm was enjoying that dynamic a bit too much. The death glares Nueng gave him were absolutely hilarious. I really enjoyed their bickering, even if it was mostly just the two of them being cute and taking petty jabs at each other.

I am really hoping this could be GMMTV opening the doors for a possible historical BL in the future. I am no expert, but I was still able to notice certain historical inaccuracies (mostly in what Nueng does that would absolutely not be permitted for a slave to do), so if they ever do decide to make a full historical series, I hope they at least try to not be so obvious with them.

Also, the side couple! I didn’t think we will get any new pairings, so getting a BL pairing in a historical setting was a nice surprise. And Palm and Nueng as the matchmakers were adorable! They showed so much joy and happiness for the other couple.

I really like the fact that the cinematography seems to match pretty well with the original series. I like how muted the colors are (or maybe it's more sepia toned) and that they kept the same overall vibe, especially during the present time. It really makes it seem like a continuation of the main series and not like a completely different, new series. I also like that they kept the bracelet as an important part of the storyline.

Pond and Phuwin pulled off their historical roles well. Their chemistry is amazing, not that I expected anything less.

Sweet Silly Fantasy Special Episodes with Plotholes

I have to say that the transition from a bodyguard/boss story into a fantasy-themed one with reverse reincarnation is shocking! Maybe because they only have 2 episodes or about 100 minutes to make up the rule of the fantasy, give explanations on how it could happens, and not to mention the actual story in the past itself, the overall plot seems to be full of holes and there are some questions as well. But considering this is a special and the fact that I have bias for BL series, I'll just try to enjoy the overall theme and story without thinking much about the plot holes.

I could enjoy the historical theme more, if they explain or give rough descriptions on what time period they were reverse reincarnated to. Love the role reversal where Palm becomes the lord while Nueng is the servant and how the power dynamic is shifted according to their new roles. Love the moments where they talk about their plans for the future and when they have differing opinions, they can talk it out (although I think you would need to talk more than that especially discussing important matters like that). Also loves it that both Palm and Nueng shows they have each their own good and bad quality but they still stick to each other despite of that. Last but not least, loves that Palm seems to make decision at the end because it's what he wants as well and not because it's what he thought would be the best for them

Side couples come as a surprise to me! Even though they only have a few minutes of screentime, apparently I was too invested in their story. I unexpectedly shed some tears when in the current era, Phum (Petch) and Kan (Kla) are boyfriends too. It feels like they got what they deserves, even when they couldn't be together in the past era.

P.S. love the eye refreshments scene *wink

So silly I liked it

First I was really hopping Palm doesn't call nueng diao as young master or the Mr he did...I enjoyed seeing them being accual boyfriend...most pple won't agree with me but i wish it was longer...I could take another four episodes...the comedy the silliness.. Pond in that silk costume...aah yes...
My highlight in the episode...am a huge Marc fan and seeing him again with pawin was a suprise that I needed to add up in the special episode....
Will i rewatch it...yes a couple of million times....what a fantastic way to end the era of NEVER LET ME GO...

Change

One of the must-watch. Palm and Nueng's story: Totally unexpected storyline: Past, present, and future. I am at a total loss of words. Their chemistry was off the chart. Phuwin and Pond have outdone themselves. I never thought that there would be a side couple.
The character development of Pond-Nueng was fantastic. The way they want to support and respect each other dreams and be there for each other shows how much they love each other. The historical part of the story and role reversal was a great addition. I couldn't ask more.

Letting Go Of This One

Of the dramas being continued with Our Skyy 2, Never Let Me Go is my least favorite. I didn't think it was a great drama to begin with and it's one that seemed to have a pretty conclusive ending that didn't need any further embellishment so I didn't have high hopes for these two episodes. That turned out to be a very good thing as these two episodes were completely underwhelming and frankly, quite tedious to watch.

The story just seemed ridiculous. To go from the more serious tone of Never Let Me Go with being hunted down and trying to survive to these two episodes where we suddenly have fortune tellers and magical bracelets and curses and jumping through time, it was incredibly jarring. Introducing a rather complex concept in such a short period of time was foolhardy and it doesn't flow well. There are far too many plot holes, too many questions left unanswered and not nearly enough time to properly flesh everything out.

The acting, as I've come to expect from Pond and Phuwin, was a mixed bag. Pond continues to bore me with his lack of expression and Phuwin varied from decent to over the top. I was, however, pleasantly surprised by Pawin and Marc. They both played minor characters, but I liked their acting. It felt more natural to me than either Pond or Phuwin and, honestly, I would have preferred more of them.

The few things that I liked were that Palm and Nueng did communicate. Not necessarily well all the time, but they made the effort. Compared to Never Let Me Go where I felt like they never really communicated, this was an improvement. Despite not feeling like it really fit with the drama, I was intrigued by the historical setting. If the special had fit in better with the original drama, I think I could have liked it, but that disconnect just killed it. It also didn't help that Palm and Nueng really didn't make any effort to blend in, Palm in particular. They stood out like sore thumbs and it ruined the atmosphere. The power swap was interesting with Palm suddenly being the rich and powerful one and Nueng as a servant. It created a bit of a different dynamic between them at times. I think it could have been played with to a greater extent to reveal more about the characters and allow them to grow both as individuals and as a couple, but I'll take what I can get. I liked the side couples of Phum/Petch and Kan/Kla. I found them more compelling than Palm and Nueng, particularly as Petch and Kla. Their romance, though brief, was sweet and innocent, a breath of fresh air. And while they couldn't be together due to the time they lived in, it was gratifying to see their descendants able to be together without fear.

These two episodes were just a mess. They didn't add anything of value to the story and just felt really out there and disconnected from the drama. If you're like me and not a fan of Never Let Me Go, don't waste your time on these episodes, you won't be missing anything.

PhuwinPond have done it again!

The amount of chemistry they have is INSANE! I just watched NLMG in anticipation of Our Skyy2. And, it doesn't have the best execution, but it's so endearing and sweet. I fell in love with the leads in the first episode.
This special is so very close to my heart, and Palm's choice is so loveable. And, NuengPalm have snaked their way into my heart. I love that they brought this show back and gave them a solid enough ending for me to completely embrace that they're never going to grace my screen with a new facet of their weird little lives again.
Honestly, this is very well done, I'd recommend this special to anyone who's watched the original. I hope that we get to PhuwinPond in something new soon! :)

FANTASY X NEVER LET ME GO!

For PalmNeung’s story, I LOVE IT. It is so damn cute and I am always a sucker for fantasy genre. I did not expect that they will have this kind of plot for 2 episodes and makes me have the closure that I never knew I needed. I mean come on!!! This is way too good! The director knows how to portrays how much of a struggle love between two men back then and can we just talk about how the quotes in this 2 episodes is <3 <3. Like the part - "Love between two men is forbidden here. Maybe in the next life, you can be together.". Something like that. I forgot lol but yea! PondPhuwin never disappoint and when I found out that they are doing back to past genre, I WAS LIKE "YALLLLL YASSSSS.". There’s nothing I would change for their part and POND IS GORGEOUS UM HELLO???? I can’t help but to fell for him damn! Can I just say I couldn’t get over Phuwin’s English? It’s damn perfect! I really like him and I love how both character has developed well by years. Feel more mature.

Overall: I think fans of Never Let Me Go would enjoy this. I found the opposing tones (comedy/serious) fairly jarring

Content Warnings: violence, homophobia

What I Liked
- cute moments, domestic bliss moments
- the socioeconomic role reversal
- decent kissing

Room For Improvement
- the tone between serious and comedy was jarring along with the comedy sound effects
- not a fan of the sepia tone in the present
- what bizarre plan was that for 3 years?
- he's friends with that guy after what he did???

power is one hell of a drug

I wrote that on my history notes because I am currently studying for APUSH, but Thai dramas are more important. Okay, let me average it, and then I will talk about why this review is going to be short because it was two episodes and there's only so much to talk about. And I watched them like a week apart, so they are going to be pretty different. I gave both episodes an 8, so no math there. I gave this 8 stars out of 10. Let's talk about it. I did not check the grammar on this. So L.

They are soul mates, for real. They got some random ass time traveling shit that really has nothing to do with never letting me go at all. The village people thought Nueng was a wizard because he was gay and spoke English. That was low-key funny. It was an interesting concept and reminded me of vice versa in a bad way. I love vice versa, but this reminded me of it in a very negative light. I had no idea how they were going to get back so well on the show after leaving that sense of wonder for the viewers.

Once again, I was not expecting this time-traveling shitshow, but it was cute, I guess. They had a lot more potential that wasn't reached. The look that Nueng and Palm gave each other when they found out that Phum and Kan were together in their universe too It was just one big couples therapy session for our lovely couple. They just deepened their connection and bond with each other. I am going to miss these two because I love the bodyguard trope done right. Yeah, that's it. I am on the fence about recommending it; you can watch it if you want, but it is not necessary at all. That's really it. Boss and a Babe are the only ones from our Skyy 2 that I haven't finished, so I'll try another day. Okay bye!

My review for each section of this series is based on the following criteria:
- Did it add anything to the original series
- Was there either an absence, advance, or regression of character/couple development
- Was the story concept interesting
- Script quality

I placed spoilers at the end of this review.

I was not a fan of Never Let Me Go but I enjoyed this section. It’s not a new story concept, but it was an interesting one. The script is not perfect, but it was definitely better than the main series. See the spoiler alert at the end of this review if you want more information. It didn’t add much to the main storyline, but this was a good thing for this section. The cast did a great job with their characters. However, there was not much character/couple development. The ending was very similar to an episode of Our Skyy. See the spoiler alert at the end of this review if you want more information. The one thing that is consistent with the main series was the poor/weird background music choices. The cinematograph was good with a few minor exceptions.

Random Note:
It was nice to see Pawin (Petch/Phum) and Marc (Kla/Kan) paired up again. They were the main leads in the BL series My Gear and Your Gown (2020) which is very underrated.

******Spoiler Alert******

Although it did not match the original series concept, I get why they used the time travel aspect. This allowed them to do the role reversals. I also appreciate they wanted to make this interesting.

The ending instantly reminded me of how Our Skyy, Episode 5 (Characters Arthit & Kongpob from SOTOS/SOTUS S) ended.

Better than the series, but still not good.

It's not the first Our Skyy that I have watched bcs I didn't follow the episodes airing, I'm just following the series as I watch them.

I already did a review of NLMG and my note was 3. I'm not reviewing it as a new part of NLMG but as a special. For a special, this was kinda... funny? I laughed a bit and the story was so... camp. That's why looks better compared to NLMG. But I not really liked the plot, tho. It was... well FOR WHAT?

With the amount of drama in the main series, the special could be more bright, I guess. But it's cool for people who liked the series since here they were so more lovey-dovey. And that's another problem for me, LOL. It doesn't look real, yk? They were being sweet and it was kinda... embarrassing? To watch. It looked really fake. I didn't buy it.

Pond and Phuwin have chemistry, although they are not good actors, they have. But here, I was ? well, WHERE THE CHEMISTRY GO?

Well, it's not good at all, but anything it's better than NLMG. And for a special, is what the fans wanted I guess.

Overall, compared with the other episodes of Our Skyy, it's decent.

Never Let the Ridiculousness Go

The scriptwriters of Never Let Me Go are not good, but at least they are self-aware. Recognizing how ridiculous the series' plot is, they decided to embrace this ridiculousness. The result is a surprisingly funny combination of historical fantasy and the fated soulmates trope. It is as full of plot holes and convenient coincidences as Never Let Me Go, but it manages to be entertaining because neither Pond nor Phuwin, nor the other actors take themselves and each other seriously. If you enjoyed watching the series despite its many drawbacks, you will like these two episodes too. Just keep it in mind that Ben and Chopper do not make an appearance.
