don’t waste your time
don’t waste your time on this for it shitty ending. It started well for me, but the plot went down hill at some point, the last 6 eps were disappointing.
The good :
- the acting
- the music
- the third couple (who was not seen a lot) was cute, pretty good communications, healthy relationship. they solved their problems pretty fast
- I think all 3 couples have good chemistry
- some scenes impacted me emotionally, like ep 18 with the second couple or just scene related to first and second couple, I was almost crying
- I like the eps when the leads were with the kid
- the friendship
- this is a good and bad point, but I appreciate at first using mental illness of ML as a plot for problems/breakup, that felt real to some aspect and not like some cdrama where are think the breakup is pretty stupid or the use of a third party is annoying
- at some level, I liked the second couple, I loved their chemistry, but I don’t think their story was well written
the bad :
- dragging second couple getting together
- dragging the problems between the leads
- became somehow boring at some point, 36 eps was too much
- the worst ending possible that literally ruins everything. Doesn’t make any sense, rushed, nothing explained. FL is 100% hallucinating him, sad ending. And this is just nonsense. be clear damn it!! if he is dead, explain it, be clear about it. Why end with such horrible nonsense ending. Feel incomplete. Poor FL too, I hate it.

what happened in the last 2 episodes
it started out kind of predictable and I enjoyed the FL and ML first off but all of the off on off on between them got a bit tedious after a while. FL maintained a good acting style but the ML seemed to get faded out and by ep35 literally was gone. I enjoyed Zhan Yu Xi in South Wind Knows but the story line in this let her down. the other female lead and supporting actresses were all good as well....males were a bit wooden. The story line was quote disjointed, we never saw anything about the dance troop from when FL decided to save it from them winning the top awards???? also the annoying little brother, he added no value to any of the story lines at all. As I said the last 2 episodes seem to have just been a closeout as quickly as possible..with no story to it really other than at least 30 mins of dream sequences. Was this review helpful to you?

The ending ruined the entire drama for me.
I once said that Modern Romance drama will have a better ending than Xianxia at least it will be least tragic when compared to Xianxia. After watching the ending to this drama, it really made me take back what I said about Modern Romance dramas ending being better. How wrong was I because this drama totally takes the king in terms of the stupidest direction ever.
I am sorry but not sorry for saying this, because I really need to put it out there for those people because I genuinely love the pairing Xing Zhizhi and Qin Fei. I love their flashback when they were kids and I love their love story on how they've met each other again when they're grown up and how much Xing Zhizhi loves Qin Fei. Their love is the definition of Xing Zhizhi falls in love with Qin Fei first and she falls harder in love with him as time goes by.
When the writers decided to go the direction to have Xing Zhizhi take the medicine where he lost his emotions, it already made me not like it as much because I miss the old him where he express his emotions at the beginning and not someone who feels empty without those emotions. But I still held onto the hope in this drama because I look forward to their happy ending.
To be honest, their wedding was what I look forward to seeing the most, but as soon as that happened, I was like "Wtf" at it. As soon as that wedding happened I lost all hope because I know it wasn't real! T^T
Qin Fei really shouldn't have made up that lie to have Xing Zhizhi return to Suman to speed up his recovery because this indirectly caused them that horrid ending in the end.
If doing an operation was what allowed Qin Fei to regain his emotions then so be it. Even if it takes time in China, at least it wouldn't be in a dangerous place like Suman.
The more I think about it the more I end up hating how it all turned out.
If you want to give a tragic death to the Xing Zhizhi, the ML, (NOT that i support it), having him protect the Qin Fei(FL) in an attack would have been better than that cheap direction and him being implied dead and killed OFFSCREEN!
But I seriously hated the ending, because it is totally unjustifiable imo. You don't have Xing Zhizhi recovers from his mental illness to be ready to get back together with Qin Fei (and she have been waiting for him) but then have him presumed to be killed offscreen! Yes, OFFSCREEN!!!! because viewers was not given an explanation on what happened to him after he was abducted!!
I really WANT to believe in the end, that ending was him!! All I needed was enough time for an EXPLAINATION, from Xing Zhizhi and tell her (AND US!!!) WHAT HAPPENED TO HIM, HOW HE WAS ABLE TO GET OUT, WHERE HE'S BEEN ALL THIS TIME!!! As long as the writers give us this explanation, no matter how stupid the last minute happy ending it is.... I would believe that he's really back!!
BUT we got NONE of that!! In the final episode and all the scenes that lead up to "that moment in the end", do you expect us to believe that he's real?!
I'm so sad and disappointed with this ending, and honestly this ending really did ruined the entire drama for me. Xing zhizhi and Qin Fei deserves better.... I cannot watch this drama again without being reminded of what happened at the end...
In the end, all we got was their journey was a complete waste. The FL Qin Fei ended up having the same mental illness as the ML Xing Zhizhi which he was trying his best to recover, he finally recovered but was killed offscreen, WTF. And then Qin Fei got the same mental illness as Xing Zhizhi imagining it was him and he's back... except this is the illusion she don't want to get out off because she couldn't live on in a world without him!!
Are you for real writers?!
There's two screen writers here, maybe Wu Meng Zhang wrote the first half and Shi Ruo Min wrote the second half...since Shi Ruo Min also gave a sad ending in LIP(Love is Panacea)! -_-
While I was sad that LIP have a sad ending but at least there was built up to that ending, but in TBL(The Beautiful Lie), that was SO RANDOM and SO UNNECESSARY! IT MAKES ZERO SENSE IN TERMS OF LOGICAL DIRECTION AND WRITING PERSPECTIVE. THIS IS WHY I AM SO PISSED AND DISAPPOINTED, because it defeats that whole purpose in the last half of the story where Xing Zhizhi was trying his best to recover and he did recover(able to feel those emotions again), that gave us hope and then that shit happened OFFSCREEN.
Shi Ruo Min is definitely on MY BLACKLIST. I hope SRM gets a lot of backlash from fans who was disappointed in this drama!!
This is honestly so traumatic and I absolutely hated the writing in terms of ending perspective. One for the fact that we dont get a clear explanation if Xing Zhizhi is dead or alive (hurts me to think he's actually dead, but no one in their right mind would believe he's alive at the end.....), and two, their journey went back into a full circle and left unresolved.... isn't this supposed to be a story about being able to heal your mental illness? I am not inclined to think this is anything "beautiful" at all. It's disgusting in terms of after everything they've suffered and been through, they couldn't get that happy ending they've worked so hard for, a happy ending in which both Xing Zhizhi and Qin Fei deserves!!..
Personally, I wouldn't recommend this drama if ending is something that matters to you.... I actually felt like watching My Boss again... because Xing Xu is my favourite and the fact his character was done so dirty with this ending, make me want to watch My Boss again to heal my heart from this trauma and nightmare.
I haven’t written a review in here for a long time now... but this drama and my disappointment in this drama at the end makes me wants to write this review.
It has a promising start, the main pairing deserves better but they were done so dirty and I am genuinely disappointed with this ending!!

What did i just Watch?
i'll keep it short and simple. I started watching this drama because im a fan both Zhan Yu Xi and Chen Xing Xu however the chemistry between was non existance lol ?This drama has weak storyline, ok acting and dont even know what happen the last 2 episode. Ending very dissapointing. The Whole drama just didnt flow right its like they were edited wrong with unfinish storyline lines and it just jump to another storyline. I had high hopes for this drama but left dissapointed.
DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME !!!!☹️

From mediocrity to awful ~
Normally I don't write a review before a drama has finished airing, but I decided that I don't really care about the final two episodes anymore & I have a pretty good idea what's going to happen anyway, so here we go..For the first 20 episodes-ish I thought this was a very mediocre, very standard cdrama with nothing but recycled plots, an incredible amount of stalling, but at least it had a decent cast & nothing too annoying happened, so I felt entertained just barely. Though the actress + bodyguard or firefighter? 3rd couple was pretty bad to be fair and there is barely any comedy worth mentioning .
After e20 though the drama turns into complete trash. (it could be e19 or e21 I'm not sure exactly when the writing shifts) Of course the problem is either the script or the original source material, I don't know. Anyway the plot becomes absolutely garbage & it doesn't feel like it was written by a human. The individual scenes are well filmed, but the plot flows randomly & stupidly, very little of it makes sense. Random start dating, random breakup, random this and that. Honestly it reminded me of the AI generated anime show called `Always Breaktime`.
Just for fun I asked Chatgpt to write a 1000 word long cdrama plot outline for me & it was way better than this, though admittedly not anymore original.
The childhood connection is rather weak as well, but I suppose I've seen worse.
I'm alright with mental illness being the main conflict of a romance drama, but this is perhaps the worst portrayal of a mentally ill person I have ever seen.
Had I finished watching this I would have almost certainly called it the worst cdrama I have ever managed to get through, unfortunately I cannot do it.

Awful and draggy
It started out pretty fine, but it slowly went downhill, they make the ml as if some extra (like his screen time and character) and they basically yeeted him out of existence without informing abt him in the ep 35, like no proper explanation? and just make the fl delulu now and not the ml. Like wow, such a trashy and frustrated ending that i had to write a review, definitely wouldn't recommend , maybe first few episodes but that's it. After a point, i only watched for the kids and the side couple. :( So disappointed.....Was this review helpful to you?
The 2B’s
The 2B’s - Basic and Boring^^ It wasn’t anything special and I found myself skipping many parts.
the Fl’s character IS NOT mean, rude, or anything like that btw. She just knows her worth and stand for it, thank GOD she has a backbone.
Yuxi (the actress) is an actress I always look forward to seeing more dramas of but it seems I keep putting the hopes up to high. Same plot, same acting, IM BORED!! Give me something new and unique. She has a drama that has a similar plot and I got passed watching that one, but atp it’s like im rewatching the drama. Nonetheless, no hate to Yuxi <3
- A good drama if you want something to watch REALLY QUICKLY, with NO care. Some scenes are cute.

The worst handling of mental illness that I have seen
When you are dealing with sensitive issues like mental trauma, depressions etc , they need to be dealt with delicately. I liked how the ML tried to always be careful around the FL because of her attachment avoidance disorder but I am very disappointed with the FL handling the ML’s illness. She really did not understand his problem or try to even support him well especially when he needed the time alone to take care of himself. She really is all only about herself .And the writers have trivialized the ML’s issue. I mean these two being together especially after he had the side effects of the medication will create a huge issue because she is so childish that she will never be there for him or try to understand the situation. An intelligent, sensitive, empathetic and mature character is needed here and say she does not represent any of these. It is not surprising that he is full of doubts about the relationship- he needs a strong partner while he goes through this phase but she is definitely not that person. She herself is so needy that she will not be able to take care of him
Well I watched the end and yes the FL and the psychiatrist basically sent him tp his death in Suman. He is gone and she is left with nothing . I guess this should be the right ending LOL. It’s the weirdest drama I have watched and the main lead relationship was very strange. They each blew hot and cold - infact it was kind of annoying to watch them. The FL’s love was the worst - she was really childish about it . In the end they tried to glorify her love but sorry it did not work. This could very well be one of the worst dramas of the yeae

The story line was good till the part 34... The ML and FL have chemistry and were looking good.. the second and third lead story was well plotted but it looked stretched incase of second lead.. But what disappointed and angered me the most was the ending and story in SUMAN... We don't know what happened with him after he was kidnapped.. at first it looked like he came of safe and got married to FL but after it's shown that he is unconscious on floor... The FL is accompanied by parents of ML and they have no idea where he is, they are with information that he had not returned from SUMAN but who the hell doesn't lookout for a person who is not been contacted for long... At the end it's shown that FL is hallucinating him and slowly going into mental trauma and depression once suffered by ML... It's not clear whether he is killed, still abducted or come back safe... She is just hallucinating and thinking of the past... If you have to give this ending why have to buildup showing his rehabilitation process and FL waiting for his return... I am highly disappointed with endings and for me I won't watch this again due to its sad ending... For others it may be opened ending believing that ml may have returned but this would mean that the ending is not written well because we are not shown how he returned and their story after... So rewatch value is very less Was this review helpful to you?
Funny to watch until you get to EP30 where everything goes down a bad lane
The drama was so funny and nice to watch, but since ep 30, it started to go down the road in a such bad way… I don't understand how this script was accepted? How could they think this ending made sense??? It's so wrong, and such an ending is illogical. It happened fast and for no reason. I am so disappointed. The cast was not bad at all during the drama, but I can't think about any reason that made them accept this ending. It feels like I wasted my time on this drama and it's so sad. It's the first time in many years of me watching a drama. So annoying!!!

As the title says
actually i don't understand why people don't find this worth watching maybe they can't connect to the story or didn't felt the way the actors show this story, but for me its very much relatable when you go through out something and it has an impact almost control all of your mind and nerves then you can't help but hallucinate this story explains the feeling of terrific incident and the how much can impact of that incident affect any person's life if it gets worse then you can't focus can't feel emotional attachmentsand the ending i find it abrupt but there is a possibility that Qing Fei is emotionally unstable and had hallucination of XZZ that she finally mets him in last because at the very different angle you can see hints that she can't accept that XZZ had already left and wanted to wait for his return as Xing Zhe Zhu said to Qing Fei, she can't always lie to herself and has to accept that XZZ already left so there is a possibility that Qing Fei had an illusion at last that Xing Zhe Zhe already returned to her and that's why the title called A BEAUTIFUL LIE anyways for me its emotional and really good :)

WT..... F.... IS THIS ENDING?!
It started off with potential. Binged watch it and it started to drag from past the episode 25 Mark. And the ending? What in the world is this ending? It just ruined a potentially good story.
I think the writers were trying to do something different for the ending but the result is appalling.
They need to be brought to the gallows.
I felt like I've just been cheated by pro scammers..
