What is there not to like…
It’s one of those Chinese short and sweet dramas, storyline is good, ML, 2ML and FL can convincingly act. The story flows well and there is a bit of a back story at episode 10 (Viki version).ML is on screen a good kisser and plays with his role with a passion that is gwell portrayed. OST is good and visually is the mini series well pleasing. I hope to see the ML in bigger production as he can act and is easy on the eyes.

Cant help but to spoil.
Was looking for a historical drama and I stumbled on this gem. I instantly had a feeling that I had seen Richard Li somewhere. Turns out it was in MDB earlier in the month. From what I've seen, he seems to have great chemistry with his FL.This drama is not one to watch if you are a happy ending kind of person. I spent a few nights after watching this, trying to figure out if there was a way for it to end happily. Nope.
I actually cried at the end. The emotions of the leads just had me tearing up. I normally hate these sad ending dramas, but I do not regret watching this one.
My favorite scene...... when he is with her in the room, having his way, whilst the emperor is outside the door, begging to come in.
Its a good watch. Great acting. Great story.

Missing Links.
I guess this drama is supposed to be a dark one filled with tension, considering that it's taking place during a time of war and their country is right in the middle of it. But..The cast, story and even the outfits are decent, however, the story failed to grab my attention. I blame the editing.
Plus, completely skipping the past of the main leads and directly heading for the conflict was a wrong move by whoever planned it because I did not feel emotional at all.
Su Yan was particularly irritating. I don't know why, but she almost seemed slow when time was dire, did not provide proper explanations to Wen Yuan and many of the troubles could've been avoided had she reacted on time.
Don't get me started on the King. He left absolutely no impression on me, even when he was at his most powerful. Pretty sure that Su Yan could've properly handled him, but alas, the story calls.
I would suggest this if you need some "break" and watch some good acting, despite of the story.

good story and perfect ML, but ..
the story was really good but it wasn't clear at all, if I didn't read Wetv description I wouldn't understand at all what happened, it was very fast forward ⏩ That I didn't understand many thingseven when they showed scenes, were not so specific is it in the present or past or it is just imagination? I wouldn't know at all!! that annoyed me SM !!
ML was so perfect, and good performance from everyone and Decorations were very good That I didn't felt it was a web drama .
but Worst ending ever .. it's unclear at all, they show main leads relationship in present then in past and many Scenes without telling what time it is!! I was so confused!!!
- and what happened for the FL after Ywan died? and what happened for the emperor?? I didn't get anything
what is this!!!
this drama could be better, if they cared and paid attention for details
actually that's why I hate to watch any web drama, Fr .. maybe this will be the last time I watch a web series
and hope to see ML in full length drama asap, he's really good actor

This could have been longer
I watched this on Viki. I did not read the comments until after I finished it, but some said, and others agreed, that you might want to watch the last episode (10) first, if you want the events in chronological order.First of all: This had potential to be a great series. It is good in it's own way as it is, but I have a feeling it would have been even better if it was a little bit longer; maybe 12-14 episodes. I don't often say "longer" for C-dramas, lol, it is more often the other way around.
The two leading actors (ML & FL) were both good, and I liked their chemistry.
Second ML (the emperor) didn't quite sit right with me, but that was partly due to his appearance, which again was partly due to his hair and makeup.
Other than his, I found the costumes and such to be nice as well.
The series had a concistent overall almost "steamy" vibe to it.

It was an easy to watch drama. It was short and different. No prize winning one but….. it was good. The plot was ok - FL fullfill her sisters wish against her own wish to be with her beloved and it makes him to believe she betrayed him for wealth. The plot is weak and nothing too extraordinary, however, in very short space and time, the cast played out the story and all the emotions rather well. Comparing this to a big production is unfair. Short episodes and snippets of actions don’t give space to play out massive actions. Some scenes were absolutely wooden but, let’s not forget, this is how studio tv used to be made and it’s not any worse, I’d say still better, than any cable tv programs around. It’s easy to watch, music is not bad and there are some beautiful camera shots. Though the ML is adorable to. Was this review helpful to you?

If you're wanting to watch this after reading Have a Soft Spot for Her (Novel Updates) then don't bother. This drama is nothing like the book at all. Not even a little bit. I hate when a drama says adapted from a novel and then it's nothing like the book at all. I understand having to change certain things to make it flow on screen but not every little detail.
This one might as well have said we've taken the names of the characters and written the script totally different. We've turned good guys into evil characters and created unnecessary deaths. Just because we can mwah ha ha.
If you just need a Li Fei fix by all means watch this because the only reason, and I do mean the only reason to watch this is for Li Fei (Richard Li) his acting is perfection as always. He needs to be in longer, better dramas.
However if you want to watch him in something more entertaining might I recommend Seal of Love. Even with the kind of open ending it's still a much better mini drama then this one.

short drama so good to watch
I really enjoyed this short drama. costumes are incredibile, the story Is good, great acting and chemistry between ML and FL. I didn't know Richard Li before this show but i can say he's very talented, maybe he's not one of the most handsome young actors but he's very charismatic and intense.. his kiss scenes can make you swoon. And he's a touch guy with a heart of goldI'm already rewatching the whole show. I disagree with the ending.

Oh no...
Watch this after see someone on the feed make costume connection between this drama & The Deliberations of Love. While I'm quite happy with The Deliberations of Love story, but this one really disappointing...Cause I'll gonna give SPOILER. As usual, the safe & what i like first.
+ The chemistry between Richard Li & Ming Jia Jia.
+ The intense story & plot
+ The cute fat little kids.
Overall this just another short drama to watch. Below is SPOILER ALERT!!! Read it with ur own risk.

SPOILER ALERT!!!
==================================================
This short dama have one think I most hate about. OPEN ENDING!!! And unfortunately not a good one like Starry Love.
For me this drama is not end with sad ending but with possibilities of an open ending. If only they ended when Su Yan died, that's another story... But this.... To reverse the beginning and ending like this... Ugh!!! Scream Open Ending instead Sad Ending for me.
Really wish they open the drama with ep 19 instead just put it in the end. My suggestion for you who want to watch this, start watch from ep 19 first. That's gonna make the story a lot better.

A tale of love and loyalty only on ML's part.. Dropping it the second time
I watched this drama a month ago and dropped it on the second episode ..cause honestly the type of pick up of the story is not something I enjoy watching. Second reason is I absolutely don't like ming Jia Jia .. her looks her acting doens't appeal to me at all and for someone like me who gives equal importance to FL she just doesn't serve the purpose. Now coming back to the ridiculous plot ..the character who are dead or dying are more influential than those who are living ..a crafty dead woman traps her own sister for the sake of her husband's power and her child's safety while her sister the FL is just the opposite she gave up on her potential family/lover to fullfill a promise from a sister to whom she owes Nothing .. and this doesn't end here even after betraying her lover she shamelessly calls him to save her ... Pathetic
This was my limit but then I promised I give it a second chance so I started watching it again after a month ... To my surprise she character turned more selfish as she promised her so called husband that she will win the lover's trust and will manipulate him into things ...
Now this was the threshold of my patience .. I don't mind selfish characters ..but there is a limit the hypocrisy..this character is well made to be an anti lead ... Keep it that way ... What is the meaning of portraying such a pathetic character less character as the core of the show ...
Anyways this crap is not worth my time
