The chemistry between Myungsoo oppa and Yooyoung unnie is perfect! (Need more OST + Complain KBS)
I completed watching episode 9 last night; therefore, I would like to update my review. I believe that there are no words in the world that can explain their chemistry as effectively as seeing 'Dare to Love Me' on your own. I hope no one misses this best romantic comedy.I am deeply saddened by the fact that this drama only has a 4-part original soundtrack, and our male lead, Myungsoo oppa, has yet to sing any original soundtracks for 'Dare to Love Me'. The original soundtrack's four parts that were released are good to listen to. (Of course, those four parts are in my favourite playlist.) However, I would like the drama that has incredible original soundtracks to have more original soundtracks, not just four parts. I am okay if Myungsoo oppa does not sing any original soundtrack because he may have some reasons. However, why do they not release any original soundtracks that are sung by other singers? I believe that having original soundtracks is an incredible way to promote drama. Many people know the drama they love because of the original soundtrack, including me. It is a fact that KBS promotes ‘Dare to Love Me’ very badly. I really hate KBS!!! I cannot understand at all why they have not promoted this drama well. Are they afraid that ‘Dare to Love Me’ will be popular and receive a lot of love? Original soundtracks not only have four parts; they have not created any official music videos for original soundtracks at all. Even though KBS has been a Korean broadcaster for a long time (51 years), they are not professional at all!
KBS must let the world know the perfect chemistry between Myungsoo oppa and Yooyoung by creating good content. Not just people who are waiting to watch 'Dare to Love Me' every Monday and Tuesday know. It is a fact that KBS made those contents, HOWEVER, just a little bit and has not uploaded those contents for a week. 🤦🏻♀️
Please try to watch ‘Dare to Love Me', and you will love this drama like me.
“I LOVE ‘DARE TO LOVE ME’ and I HATE KBS.”

I thought this was a great show
I really enjoyed this show. I always look for a lesson in the shows I watch, and Dare to Love Me did not disappoint. It shows how important forgiveness and family is and that we shouldn't procrastinate. There was a lesson that forgiveness is something we need to give ourselves more than others. The Main Leads played their roles very well. I always enjoy watching their facial expressions as it's almost like you can see what they are thinking and Kim Myung Soo always achieves that every time. The scenery is spectacular and the music always seemed to set the tone of the scene. My only complaint would be I wish they had more music in the show. All up I would watch this again.

Not Good Enough
Korean Drama '' Treat Me Carelessly '' is a romantic comedy with some action scenes thrown into the mixture. The drama has its moments, with the main idea of a man living as a scholar in a forbidden-to-enter village and protecting the historical heritage was interesting and entertaining at times. But the drama didn't really utilize the cultural shock he was experiencing to enhance the comedy, but focused on the romance, which was boring and oddly paced.
Also, the mystery case got boring as well and the ending was anticlimactic. The second half was so weak and messy that nothing could redeem the drama.
The performances, on the other hand, were enjoyable, some of them were weak though.
So, overall, three out of ten.

Terrible acting by lead actor
I really don’t understand why Kim Myung Soo is getting lead roles. His acting is dreadful. His expressions are the same in all his dramas. I didn’t enjoy this drama due to his poor acting. There are so many great actors who could’ve done better for this role. However, lead actress was great. Was this review helpful to you?

Bright, Light, Humorous & Silly. (I'm enjoying it)
Ep 1: The poster & the name of the drama brought me in, I didn't think I would end up liking any part of it. Thought, it would be like Midnight Romance in Hagwon, but the first 5 mins of the episode were so hilarious. I hoped that the woman who was pestering our ML wasn't the FL but a supporting character. This just has me intrigued as in where is this going. By the end of the episode we still haven't connected the first scene to any of what's going on. It could be a future event or it could be just a dream she had in a future. Wow, what a rollercoaster of a ride. The guy we thought she was dating was actually two-timing her and when she finds out, he acts all high and mighty calling her a backup & a fake. Yup we have 1 disgusting character right here. But still, I didn't much care for how the FL was trying to go after the woman he was two-timing with instead of the two-timer. Him she was too lenient with, especially with how rude he was to her later on.Ep 2: Lee Yoo Young, the actress portraying Kim Hong Do has such beautiful eyes. She is lovely, but this role doesn't suit her. I can picture in her in an all leather outfit doing something badass. In my opinion, she was miscast, apart from few cutesy scenes her portrayal seems kinda flat. Someone like Park Bo Young would have been a better choice. Coming to the character, she should have quit working at that place a long time ago. While all workplaces have their own issues, you still need to be able to depend on just one person to back you up. Things are going all wrong for her, from her superior copying her design to her childish cringy ex trying to frame her, it was ridiculous to watch. I liked 1st episode better. The thing where she didn't even realize that he was pretending to have not seen her was just too hard to believe. While I may not have liked this episode that much, I'm going to continue watching because I still have hope for this drama.
Ep 3: It was better than episode 2nd but not because everyone at her workplace suddenly grew a conscience. The gaslighting ex and his gf who stole her idea were just horrible, let's not even talk about higher ups who enabled them. They all deserve each other. It was kinda comedic when the designer Camille showed up suddenly to hire Hong Do, but I figured it was time something went right for Hong Do. The rest of the episode was a teacher taking care of her student, some of which funny as well.
But the drama was fun to watch.

Decent comedy but weird choices to make her a groomer
Maybe not bad, but not my tastes. Personally I found it too heavy on the comedy, it might even be considered slapstick. But if you like a lot of comedy and only a splash of romance then maybe you will like this, if you can overlook the next issue.People trying to reduce this to an age gap show are missing a fundamental issue. The gap isn't the issue, the problem is the grooming that is heavily emphasized and treated as romantic. She was literally his teacher and idolized by him. They emphasize how much he has put her on a pedestal because he was going through such a rough time in school at the time and was super vulnerable. This is not a background part of the plot, it is a core part of his character that dominates multiple episodes. This is actually text book grooming, so to give it the kdrama sparkle of romance is really uncomfortable.
Weirdly they also just show her desperately clinging to men, at least from what I could see, she just clings to whoever is in front of her, which made it hard to feel like the character had any dignity or the prospective romance had any value, since she's just willing to settle for anything.
Beyond those issues show was decent, the characters and acting are good, and the broader plot about the historical preservation people is really interesting.
Though I found it weird that his character is supposed to be a devoted historical reenactor type, but has a modern haircut? I am by no means an expert, and even I expected him to have his hair tied up on the top of his head, especially wearing that hat, it was jarring to have short hair under it.

Please pour me some wine to go with this cheese!
Only two episodes in so a lot can still happen -- both for the good and equally for the bad. I will say, however, that despite some flaws there is great potential for this to be quite a fun romcom. The pros --> a fun mix of old versus new. Have you ever had a very specific itch to watch a historical drama AND a modern romance at the same time? Well then, this might be the drama for you. It's an odd mix of the Joseon era and modern day and I'm not quite sure if it works yet...but it's still kind of fun. Another perk - chivalrous male lead helping out a female lead who is struggling. Might be cliché, but it's a trope that I always go for and this drama delivers that. Plus art thieves? And work drama in the fashion industry? What? A strange mix...but this MIGHT work.
The cons --> I'd like some wine with this cheese, please. It's been a bit over-acted and, at times, a bit cringey. The female lead seems to be a bit over dramatic (she's either REALLY happy or REALLY upset...there's not much in the middle) and I think that's to the detriment of the story. And the combo of Joseon era + modern era? Plus art thieves? And work drama in the fashion industry? What? A strange mix...this might NOT work.
Two episodes in is too little to make a judgement call on the drama as a whole. But will I continue to watch? Yep. Will I hope for more chivalrous moments that I'm trash for? Absolutely. Will I cringe a bit at the over the top expressions and layer of cheeze whiz on top of most of the scenes? You bet.
Why?
Because, to steal my dad's most favorite awkward conversation filler, "I like cheese."

Very entertaining
Not of the production value of like a top series but I have found it very entertaining. The music is great the one song I Hope has such great melodies to place in the show. This whole older teacher younger student plot (now Midnight Romance) seems to be quite popular but it always confuses me. Would like to know the Korean perspective is it common? Was this review helpful to you?
Warch the first Episode, Not interested to continue.
First episode is one of the important episode of a TV Series as this will decide if people wanted to invest their time watching this drama's future episode. For me, there is nothing that holds me on watching the next episode even if it is the next day. Here why:First off, the plot is not interesting enough for me to continue watching it. It is about a woman who wanted to be a famous fashion designer. Okay. So what does got to do with me? Whether she become a fashion designer was nothing to me as I can't see how that is important to the watchers.
The ML wanted to punish and chase those people who illegally imports national art or artifacts. Like that is a noble motivation, but boring for the watchers. We don't care that much about some stolen artifacts. Getting them back will not make us happy.
You see, when you take all of their individual motivation. It hardly matters to the viewers. It does not hold enough motivating factor. This might interest some people but the general public don't. It is not like choosing this individual motivation is not always a good pick, they can be if they are used wisely and had relevance to the viewers. She may wanted to change the hierarchy of fashion and reaching the top might gave her the chance to create a new era, make us believe that she can do it and that she had the potential for it. For the ML, make it like it is a matter of death and life if those artifacts was smuggled by other people, make it relevant, like it may cause some societal panic or emergency if he did not find the culprits of this smuggling. Make it worth out time, but sadly all they have is some weak motivation and execution of how it matters to them. There is a poor introduction and more focus on the action.
Was their another motivation in this Drama. Of course, it's the romance. But was it compelling and motivating? No. Not at all.
Why is the romance seems flimsy to me. Let's go over the chemistry of the two main characters which is none. I hardly find the female lead charming. I am so indifferent to her, the one hour did not make me fell to her quirkiness. For one, she is not that beautiful in my standards, you wanted her to be a fashion dreamer but her clothes and fashion sense was so drab, hair style was so plain Her physical characteristics was not that appealing; and her personality was also not likeable. She is a pushover, she easily get fooled by a man I hardly think as charming. She can swallow her dignity just for a dream of becoming a famous fashion designer. I hardly see the relevance of swallowing your pride for it to happen. I felt that is not a smart way. She can post her works online and if she really has a talent people will see and like it. There are more smarter ways to achieve your dream, it is not worth it if in the process of achieving it you also lost and sacrifice yourself and your dignity. I don't like the message if that is what they wanted to portray.
On the other hand, I like the ML, he is handsome, cute, funny, charming, smart but so innocent of how the world works. He is good at art and he is also good at fighting. He is a perfect man. But if you wanted him to pair with the FL, sorry but I would like him to find a better one. She deserve a great lady.
It is not like the female lead with her settings can't be a great one. She just fail for me both in physical and internal character. She could have been less of a pushover and someone who lives what she dreams of. She could be a little smarter and a little aware of prioritizing herself. I don't mind my female lead not that pretty but at least she had an engaging and compelling personality.
So the pairing fail to me. So the motivation of seeing this two fall in love was not that interesting to me. The prospect of how they will navigate their future romance is not mattering to me. Which should not be the case if this is what you are offering. If the plot was not that good then make the viewers interested with the chemistry of the leads making them want to watch how their love story will unfold in the future,
I don't know if it gets better in the future or if they will established a more stable plot and likeable character in the future episodes. They should have established that in the first episode.
