I decided to watch Bad Guy on a whim. It had been sitting in my queue for a long time and i kept looking at the poster undecided "to watch or not to watch". When i initially started i was going to start off with 1 or 2 episodes but the beginning caught me immediately. By the time i realized it was a late hour i was on episode 5. The back story is what initially caught me, the sad setup for a revenge that was well deserved. The main actor, Kim Na Gil, plays a dark and angry character who trust no one and fools every person he meets, when i say he is amazing it's an understatement. His unjust childhood that he could never forget was a horror story that haunted him his entire life. The mother in the story made the best villain, not only were her evil actions selfish and devilish her snide remarks were gut wrenching and tormented the second lead; she meant everything she said and never regretted any of her actions. It is a sad story in the end because the truth literally destroyed a mans life and affected those close to him. This is a great revenge drama, so if you love revenge plots this is one for you. The romance is minimal because they focus on revenge and you know love and revenge don't mix, someone is always left crying.

I watch a lot of Asian dramas. This one scores a 10 because of the unexpected plot twists. I thought about this show for weeks after I was done watching it, which does not normally happen. Any story that can stick with me like that, deserves a rating of "Brilliant", in my opinion.

Bad Guy is probably one of the most beloved Korean Dramas, so I decided to write a review about why you may not like it...Well the basic reason for that is probably the story. It definitely has a catchy and confusing story but from some point on you keep thinking that it is too exaggerated. There is revenge, love, murder, sadness, passion, obsession, guilt, conceit, conspiracy etc. It's just too much, to that point that it loses its credibility. I had the feeling you can bring out 2 or 3 dramas from the story. As for acting, I think it was well executed.Kim Nam Gil will definietly charm you, but the acting of the Kim Hye Ok and Shim Eun Kyung will also catch your eye, well may also your ear :)The Ost was also good. It suited the drama, but I always had the feeling that it is a little similar to City Hunter's. It is definietly not the same, but you just get the feeling. The cinematography is avarege, it is neither good nor bad, but there were definetly, long and unnecessary scenes.I am a little angry to this drama, because I hoped it would be sentimental and thrilling, but somehow I was lost in the whole plot.
Still I watched all 17 episodes, and when you begin, probably you will too...Why? Because you probably like Kim Nam Gil and Kim Jae Wok, not only because they are handsome but also would be interested in their caracters...You will probably be curious about the reason of the revenge. Well I was more curious how much more the plot could be exaggareted. You also will probably like the OST. (no bad comments here)
Overall, when I finished the drama there was only one thing in my mind... I really hope they paid the actors well, because it must be very tiresome for them...

A determinate drama in my life! Exciting, eventful, deep and so on!!! My favourite was Shim Gun Wook, the mysterious and charismatic man. Such a good melodrama!!!! I like the story's progression, the different characters personality, the beautiful classic songs! Bad guy is almost the perfect melodrama for me. Food for thought. I cried with Kim Nam Gil when he cried...This is an emotional roller coaster. I LOVE IT!
The viewers don't know what will happen. But we will know everything in the last episode :)

This review may contain spoilers
1) The reason I watched this :
Mainly because of the revenge plot , and the cast ..

2) Storyline/Plot:
First 10 episodes were perfect , I may have given it like 8 or 9 , but scoring a show is after finishing the whole show , everything cracked at the end its like different writers or something , or they wanna speed everything because of Kim Nam Gil who suddenly they realized he had an army to spent a year in , worst ending ever in K DRAMA I have ever seen , and by worst I don't mean a sad ending or something , NO its completely stupid and OUT of Order , doesn't make sense at all , all characters development were strange in last 2 episodes , every single one acted out of his and her role , out of their character as we know it with sudden developments for example a harmless , shy girl turned into a very bad character suddenly and whats make it more strange , she has no regret , and enjoying her life at the end ??? the main female lead just kissing a guy previous episode , and suddenly I love the other one ??? what is this , and NOT only this every one acted weird , the end itself as a story is so stupid if u compared it to suicide case at the beginning and all the police efforts ?? wondering how the end is this stupid !!! as if u're watching a different story , the last 2 episodes were just this stupid , which makes all your journey worthless , my advice stop before ending (if you could , I know its impossible ) and figure out your own ending , I'll add a spoiler part why the ending is stupid and not worth watching if u wanna read it at the end of review .

*The cinematography is Average , some scenes were perfect in terms of direction and production .

*Main Genres:

--->Revenge , suspense , melodrama : the revenge and twists were incredible at some points , which makes the show a really enjoyable to watch , u'll always be hooked . (except for last 2 episodes )

--->Romance: A very intense melodramatic love triangle , one of the strong points of the show .

Story: 1/10. (Horrible and pathetic )

3) Acting/Cast:

*Main Leads : Kim Nam Gil as main lead done a really great job , also I like Oh Yun Soo acting and character , she also done a really good job. as for Han Ga In I didn't like her , there is something wrong in her acting , I don't know what is it !!

*Supporting actors : average

*Relationships:

--->Romance: the starting romance is good and mature , the other beneficial love romance is also goos and mature , No cute scenes , but u can feel the tension , and suspense even in love
chemistry 6/10

--->The triangle: A very intense melodramatic love triangle , again one of the strong points .

Cast: 6/10.
Acting: 8/10.

4) The ending: one of most Horrible/pathetic ending in k-drama land , and was beautifully done in a very horrible way :D

The ending: BIG ZERO /10.

okay THIS IS the spoiler part I said I'll add , " why the ending is stupid and not worth watching if u wanna read " , Don't read if u don't wanna spoile the ending for you , it just contain some little spoilers without mentioning names of characters .

..... SPOILER ALERT ...... SPOILER ALERT ..... ..... SPOILER ALERT ..... ..... SPOILER ALERT ..... ..... SPOILER ALERT ..... ..... SPOILER ALERT ..... ..... SPOILER ALERT ..... ..... SPOILER ALERT ..

Why the End is too stupid to watch ?? The writers are making Fun of US the viewers actually
the ending 2 episodes as I said before the worst ending ever in K DRAMA I have ever seen , and by worst I don't mean a sad ending or something , NO its completely stupid and OUT of Order , doesn't make sense at all for the following Reasons :

1- The ending twist and story : The final crime scene , I just want you to compare it with the beginning suicide crime scene , for the first one its obivious that its a sucide case but the strong incredible policemen said NO , u don't know why , but they were incredible followed every single lead untill they found the truth , best policemen ever , final scene complete opposite obvious murder case , he was shoot in stomach and jumped over bridge , Obvious murder case , and guess what they regarded it as if he committed sucide ?? never search for the reason , tell me how ??? I'm dying here whats wrong with you , as if its completely different police in a completely different country ??

2- They announce a dead body on single paper on street bearing the same scar that guess what the whole police department is searching for the man having this scar the whole episode , FUNNY right !!! inaddition , they already seen him many times , and could easily recognize him .

3- the sudden appearance of MAIN evil character : NO COMMENT , ?? Questions WHEN , WHERE , WHY , HOW COME ??? u dunno

4- His sister how come she didn't know he's her brother , and if she didn't know uptill the incidence which makes sense , but how come she didn't know after ???? and how come his family didn't reach him ( older sister ) , or talked with her sister , as if all knows except for her ,

5- The character developing : all characters development were strange in last 2 episodes , every single one acted out of his and her role , out of their character as we know it with sudden developments for example a harmless , shy girl turned into a very bad character suddenly and whats make it more strange , she has no regret , and enjoying her life at the end ??? the main female lead just kissing a guy previous episode with affection sensed , and suddenly I love the other one ??? and the other I'm not part of family bye bye , go to other man he needs u more, was he this sort of character man ??? Big sister , whats wrong with her .. ??? The male lead , its time to pay for my sins ?? dude what sins , the way I see it everyone done horrible things except you , compared to them u're an angel , u want ur life u damaged ur family they forgave you , everything thing ok , whats with ur decision ?? OUT OF CHARACTER ..

6- The final scene , his home door open for everyone , at any time , NO LOCKS , just any passing dude from the street can enter !!!!

7- Walking at the streets for a long distance till reaching the bridge and nobody cares to help him !!!

There is a lot more points , but I'm really frustrated and tired , any way ,

.....END OF SPOILER ALERT .....END OF SPOILER ALERT.....END OF SPOILER ALERT.....END OF SPOILER ALERT.....END OF SPOILER ALERT.....END OF SPOILER ALERT.....END OF SPOILER ALERT.....END OF SPOILER ALERT.....END OF SPOILER ALERT.....END OF SPOILER ALERT

*Is the drama memorable: YES stupid ending dramas are very memorable

My impression: 7/10.

Rewatch : I rarely rewatch any drama , but this one I will defiantly not rewatch ..

6) Overall:
Overall: 5/10 ( I think I'm over rating it )

The cringest womanizer!

Not sure if this is a revenge drama or a harem one. There are like 5 women lusting over the main guy. Fitting its title a "bad boy". All of the relationships seems to be written by a teenage girl in her fanfiction blog. Maximizing the cringe! It's borderline a comedy for how silly and goofy it was. It's the worst revenge drama I've ever seen. I read that the drama was cut short by 3 episodes because of Kim Nam Gil military service, this forced a ridiculously baboonish last episode which was the icing on the cake to make it a certified bad drama. Again, fitting its title.

Beautiful cinematography, gorgeous actors, compelling plot. The drama outside of this drama was really the killer of its execution at the end. Good premise with great promise, a sloppy ending. Wish it could be done over again without so much stress surrounding it.

I liked this drama. I love the revenge theme. The ending was totally unexpected. I kinda got mad about the end when I finished watching it but after thinking about it for a while I was ok w/ how it ended. Everything can't be sunshine & rainbows. The end gave it a more realistic feel to it, even though every1 was innocent except the mother. I just don't understand how some1 could be that cold toward an innocent child. Be mad at the person responsible don't take it out on kids.

Bad Guy depicts all the reasons I am addicted to Korean dramas.

The main character is a bad guy whom I still cannot admit that he is a bad guy, thanks to the actor.

This drama is not simply just never boring. It is addicting!

Do not turn turn a blind eye to this melo you’ll regret it. But also you’ll avoid (miss out on) a serious heartache. hah!

This drama was put off last on my list till I saw Kim Nam Gil for the first time in Live Up to Your Name

He was the perfect guy for this act, I believe.

Whether you watch it for Kim Jae Wook, Kim Nam Gil, Jung So Min, Ha Ga In or whomever, they all shine; all the actors shine in the drama.
Although I started watching it with a biased view. I liked it with bias cuz of the cast, but not anymore.

I am usually not into revenge plots. I can’t relate or feel them and they bore me. But this is none of that…
It is the perfect revenge melodrama.

It gets exciting from the start and never gets dull. It is a perfect combination of drama and romance that was nothing cliche, everything about it is perfectly done in order to capture my attention from start to finish. and I never felt like I watched too much.

This is a piece of work, a masterpiece of engaging directing, acting, music and etc and the writing.
Ingeniously written dialogues.

The drama had quotes that are worth writing down. They were brilliant quotes and I wanna go back and note every one of them down.
Quotes that shook me.

And the star was obviously the acting of the lead actor, the subtleness of the expressions of the eyes body language, personality, fluidity, his eyes his eyes his eyes, (the look in them) was everything. He had it all. Every move, flicker, posture and gesture meant something. The act was put up perfectly without flaws. perfect to the point I can feel him. and it grew on me hard. His demeanor grew on me. his figure looks so sad. his hair adds to it.
someone even said “I never knew a guy's back view can also speak a thousand words.”
He was never Kim Nam Gil. Not for a moment. He was Shim Gun Wook 100% of the time. I never believed that he is acting or an actor that I know.

uaah Moon Jae In. Jae In... I didn’t give her enough credit. She is someone with greed. And although she is definitely not a perfect person but I loved her relation with the ML; how she always forgave him and understood him for some reason. She kept surprising me, unlike usual fl that stays upset for too long, she was an understanding, and an open person in terms of acceptance.

The second ml was not a simple second ml, he had very special presence and an important existence in the story.
ugh, I cannot speak enough of how the story was well written cuz thinking about it gets painful. Anyway all characters felt special and important.

The story I would describe as something that holds you by the neck
the BGM and OST were perfect. I cry listening to them.

The drama is truly epic! it is so great that the ending doesn't lessen from its value cuz its not the one you were hoping for (it only added to its pain though. Face palm because I read spoilers).
I loved the camera work. where you could see the roughness of their skins and therefore feel their suffering or luxury.

Only rewatch value is relatively low since I would be putting myself through torture if I watch it again. It’d be fun though.

I have seen a lot of melodramas, I have seen tragedies, and I have seen a share of sad characters, but this is (probably) the saddest (main) character that I have seen.
Even his name is sad, the names he call sound sad, his voice is sad, his backside is sad, every move he did was sad, his hair looked sad, his face looked sad. The drama should not have been called 나쁜 남자 (bad guy), it should have been called 불쌍한 남자, which means pitiful man.

If you ever felt like you wanted to watch a drama that would take you away and make you feel like your life/ world has no meaning, this is it.

What was I thinking when I though the guy on the poster doesn’t look good or promising. I need to smack my prejudiced thoughts.

I’m already not in my right mind. I would really appreciate an open ending in this situation.

Oh, dear lord, Bad Guy. On the one hand, the script is a disaster, its ineptitude obvious long before the crash and burn finale. On the other hand, three of the four leads have both talent and screen presence, making them great fun to watch when they’re not tripping over loopy narrative threads. Part of the problem is that the director and writers appear to be telling two completely different stories. In interviews, the director mentioned wanting to create a modern version of Stendhal’s “The Red and the Black”, focused on ambitious outsiders seducing their way to the top. This element of the story is actually interesting, and, had it been fully developed, could have been twisted, sexy fun. The writers apparently never got the memo though, as they crank out a paint-by-numbers revenge drama, complete with ham-fisted moralizing, dead puppies, and incoherent plot twists.

If you can tune out the big picture and focus on the pretty, there are lots of entertaining scenes full of atmospheric camera work, great music and sizzling chemistry. Just don’t expect it to all add up to anything by the time you get to the end.

Its this kind of drama that not anyone can fall for, the drama that you love so much & don't understand why its this underrated & why people not love it in the way you do, its not for a regular watch !
its a very sad melo, where non of the character happy or can be happy yet in some how you dont feel its strange, you find your self understanding each one of this character & keep on crying !
& I've to say the story is good, nothing new, but its good, a typical revenge drama, but they get everything wrong in the last ep, the ending is stupid !! & that what keeps this drama from getting 10 score by me, cause beside the ending its my best sorrowful drama.
To add a thing that is one of the greatest aspect of this drama : the OST ! is one of the most beautiful song I've ever heard

NON SPOILER REVIEW :
If you ever ask me about how people take revenge , I will do nothing but tell you to watch this drama and this is how you do it but in the end just remember revenge is self destruction and nothing else which was the message of this drama .

This was the best revenge drama one could come across . By far the best .
The execution was dumbfounding .
Each and everything was planned .
Zero plot holes . The way Kim Nam gil manipulates , moreover seduces is dumbfounding .
Ep 1-14 were excellent .
After that it turn into sorry to say to kinda disappointing pathetic melodrama , like a shit of the plot made till now but I think that was to make up for the ending episode . Originally it was planned for 20 episode it seems .
Anyways Ep 17 was good .
It has an ironical ending .
There's a big hint about the ending in this drama . ???? Try to catch it if you can.
Also Kim Nam Gil went to the military perhaps that's why a scrappy ending but still nice one .

Thus ,
Final rating 9/10
I enjoyed each and every moment of it till episode 14 .

P.S : Not so many female leads make me waver or feel something , First time i felt this way was with Song Yoon Ah in the K2 , this time it was Oh Yun Soo in this drama . She's totally mesmerizing . The way she looks and acts . I admire her . ^^
