The first few episodes were great but such a confused drama
This drama started out well. Some things seemed implausible but can be forgiven cause it's a drama. It was such a promising concept. The cinematography was good and I thought the first 6 episodes were solid. I picked up the novel because when I started only 4 episodes were out. The characters are flawed but well written in the novel, their love and commitment for the family really shines through. But the last couple of episodes TANKED HARD. This drama had violent moments so it wasn't as if they made changes to make it more palatable to a larger audience. So I don't understand why they took well written characters and stripped them of any originality. The show's writing really failed the viewers. I absolutely detest episode 10. Just make it not exist please. I don't understand the point of it. There is no rhyme or reason to anything that the characters did in that episode. The writing was god awful. After episode 8, it was as if they had plot points set up but didn't know how to get from one to another. The ending was extremely anti climatic. When the credits started rolling my immediate reaction was- "ha? what just happened? it ended? Just like that?"

Not a convincing storyline
It's in the eyes ..a lovers look is different form a brother..Strangely everything else is beautifully done ..I truly like this type of narration -since the days of "we best love S01" ,, the acting was good (the cute Taiwanese style of acting if I may say so),the music too, but I couldn't buy the feeling (sorry).
He is the big brother even in the throes of passion he was "brotherly" .. I don't know if its their way to commit to "slice of life" type of story but the confusion was there and I didn't like it ..
Also the separation period was to emphasize the younger brother genuine feeling but still I felt as if he was just stuck refusing to live his life, and confusing the thin line between gratitude and love.
Moreover, the story is incomplete as both of them carrying a huge emotional baggage , they didn't talk enough with each other about it.

is this a joke?
Nothing to complain abt acting, but the plot is so immature, like a high-schooler's diary. Everything seems to take place in the family's living-room... It must be very low budget! Conveniently the ML gets paired with the adopted sibling, and the real sibling falls for the only family friend and also business partner. Just a drama abt 4 people! Not to mention they are all rich & famous, after rising from rags due to being genius or something! The ML becomes an IT graduate and businessman as an orphan while raising two younger siblings. The adopted brother is also a top student. The "dumb" sister becomes a well-known actress over night etc. The setting for this is literally an average house, too big to be realistic as an orphans' house, and too small for 3 accomplished adults. Some side actions and characters are unnecessary, like the handsome doctor and the second fight with the gangsters.
This mini drama is saved by the excellent actors - special mention to the child actors!
Just watching out of boredom.

Perfect
I thoroughly enjoyed this series! I loved the “slow burn” effect it had with the ML characters. I loved how the story unfolded. The only thing I would have wanted was more of Qian and Li Li’s story. I think their characters deserved that depth. All in all great watch and I’d watch it again! Was this review helpful to you?
This is one of the great BL series I have watched in 2024
I just recently discover how Taiwan produces great and wholesome BL series and it's so sad that its kinda underrated. So I stumble upon this series Unknown and boyyy THIS THE SERIES I'VE BEEN CRAVING FORRR. Even it's a pain to wait a whole week for just 1 episode to be release the wait is worth ittt. Tbh didn't expect to be emotional at the last two episode. This series is really great and boy the OST itss givinggg whjahahha I love how the each ost is perfectly played for a situation or scene that they are showing, that sometimes it become funny whahhahaha. Also the characters are just givinggg I'm too lazy to write how I admire each character and how every actor carries them effortlessly so just watch and you'll know. Anyway if you are looking for something to watch a BL series perhaps with a light, heart warming story with a great storyline, plot, and ost I DEFINITELY RECOMMEND THIS SERIES!!!Was this review helpful to you?

incest
This story seems to have started many other BLs this year with this horrible plot of the brothers, although I'm not a fan of addict heroin or the only one, but you can still watch it because they didn't grow up together, but this one, the oldest one, was a father figure and a brother, even though they're not blood relatives, I believe that in modern families this is the least important thing unless one needs a blood transfusion, it's for those with a strong stomach, I felt uncomfortable, it's not the kind of story that I like, I think brothers have other types of feelings. Was this review helpful to you?

Possibly the best Taiwan BL I've come across
Having tried watching a couple of Taiwanese BL in the past based on rave reviews online (i say tried because i dropped most of them eventually), only to be terribly disappointed by the story-telling, acting, production value etc (we *cough* best *cough* love, Kiseki) i honestly hesitated starting on this one. In addition to my bad past experience with TW BL, incest just isn't my idea of a good forbidden romance... Putting aside the borderline incest plot, yes they're not blood related blah blah, this was actually a pretty darn good BL. Possibly the best I've seen from TW so far.The story-telling had structure, decent context setting, good build-up, running themes to anchor the storyline and the dialogues were natural and not overly cheesy. The cinematography (lighting, angles) was surprisingly good for a drama series with thoughtful choice of location (the stairs and alley leading to the house, the fishing scene), although I thought they could've dialed up the "slump" aesthetics a little. But the winning ingredient for me was the acting and chemistry of the main leads. Their sound understanding of the characters was evident in their gestures, speech, right down to their breathing (there's a scene where Yuan and Qian are at the fishing spot for the first time and Yuan is lost in thought, and as the camera pans out back to reality, you can see him breath in and his eyelids quiver, desire and guilt fleets across his face).
Qian and Yuan are also interesting characters with raw survival instincts, are both strong and vulnerable for each other, and are fiercely loyal to each other and their loved ones. The main supporting characters were also well-designed, imperfect people bound together by non-traditional familial bonds. The interjection of well-timed humour also helped to lighten the story (cue San Pang and XiaoBao).
Some gripes were the casting choice for the multiple versions of younger Yuan vs fewer versions of younger Qian. Just wished they either got more similar looking child actors or stuck to just 1 or 2 for both. I also wasn't a fan of the OST and it was an odd choice of bgm at times. The gun scene w the side charac was my least favourite scene as the dialogue was a tad unpolished and it was overall a little over dramatic.
All in all, i thought this was one of the better (if not the best) BL from TW for me and the actors surprised (and impressed) we with their acting chops.

Happy Ending!!
I’m so happy that they decided to end the story in a happy tone. Sorry for the spoilers but lie many of my fellow drama followers, a lot of Asian LGBTQ dramas end in a horrible way so when I was watching the show, I would take brakes so I can mentally and emotionally prepare myself for a horrible ending that, happily never came 😊.Please, if you are one of me that thought about it twice because of that particular problem, do yourself a favor, read this comment and fully enjoy (and sometimes cry your heart out) this wonderful drama.
The acting is superb, and the emotions are all over the place (for a good reason). I truly enjoyed this one and I hope they keep doing more (with a happy ending of course).

"Family."
This drama is reigned by emotions rather than a story and it's no fantasy either. There was some reality in every single character portrayed and it should be the reason alone to give 'Unknown' a chance. It follows Wei Qian, the eldest brother who is forced to grow up and give up the frivolities of life in order to provide a safe space for his younger sibling, Wei Li, after his neglectful and abusive mother ruins their lives.
After taking up a shady job under a certain Lao Le’s gang, he stumbles across an abandoned, feral kid whom he then takes home. What follows next is a slice-of-life plot depicting how Qian finally gives up gang activities and grows up to become the ultimate ‘Da Ge’.
However, his little bubble, in which he is forever the parent to his siblings, is popped when Wei Zhi Yuan, the boy he had adopted, confesses his feelings.
Pretty sure that the title ‘Unknown’ is definitely meant for Wei Qian, the eponymous character of Da Ge by Priest from which this drama was adapted. He is the only one who doesn't know what exactly he was feeling until his younger brother took matters into his own hands. His own future is wholly dependent on making his loved one's be safe and happy.
The drama gave me all the warm fuzzies that I wanted and even moments of laughter at times - particularly with San Pang and the co-worker gang and Dr. Li. Also - when Zhi Yuan left Qian speechless with verbal/physical displays of affection. Though, in reality, I would've been the one to change countries had something like that happened to me.
The acting was top notch. Particularly, Wei Qian. I could understand his confusion the most and could literally feel his emotions and suffocation through the screen. Wei Zhi Yuan was not far behind – as someone who is poor in expressing emotions, this dude legit scared me with how open and honest he was.
San Pang, and the entire family together were wholesome and heartwarming to watch.
It's a well made story about a found family and everything that takes to hold them together.
The Soundtrack was beautiful. Particularly the opening song. There was nothing too much over-the-top about the production, either.
Pretty sure that I won't be rewatching this anytime, but it's definitely one of the more warm dramas out there.

Sloooow Burn
First, if you don’t like the “brothers” falling for each other but seem okay with the sister getting on with the other brother. There is underlying hypocrisy in your thinking. Second, why are people upset with the age difference ter the brothers but are okay with the sister getting it on with the other much older brother. This is a heavy hearted series. The mother is a piece of shit. I am not sure if I am the only one but I get the implication that she also sexually advise Qian which is why he’s sexually traumatized and for the most part asexual until he got it on with Zi Yuan.
I did not see Lin with Le but it was a pleasant surprise to see Sam Lin back in a BL even if the relationship is ambiguous.
People had to wait for the cursed episode 11 to get their smexy scene. And boy did the series deliver on it.
I can see why so many people like it in a sea of bad BLs we had this year. But if you’re not into a good storytelling series. This isn’t for you.

"Brotherhood of Hearts: Realistic Romance and Waiting for Love."
Taiwan is doing crazy projects in bl's side like last year and this year with this gem. So, real friends turned into brothers in this series quite coincidence but there romance was top notch in this drama. There are too close to each other and comfortable shooting with the nude scenes as well as romance too! One of the best couple after love for love's sake(KBL series). Their scenes and story is too realistic there is no flaws in this series too. Their characters portray raw emotions which made me cry and laugh with them. I was so angry with san pang but the end he was one who said qian that he also loves yuan too! Qian is so tough character to play he is stubborn and homophobic too but the end of the day, he opened his heart to yuan which made me happy. Yuan was waiting for qian his whole life, i personally felt bad for our yuan till ep 6, everyone are treating him badly and pointing at him like he did something mistake to love qian! After ep 7 we can't handle our yuan's attitude changed and at last he pursue qian in another way to make him love yuan! i loved it personally. I need season 2 for this series or the couple should act in another series. There chemistry was unbeatable and hot too!!Was this review helpful to you?
