Must watch

In the BL world i think JBL's are the most pure bl..
This drama is so cute! After it started i read the manga version beforehand to compare both of them..
The manga version is cute but the drama version taishin is way cuter than the manga version.. Takara senpai is way cooler in the drama.. I mean the drama version he is so not exactly perfect but almost perfect.
This drama doesn't make u skip any of the episode.. although they focus more on the mains still the university part is good.. And takara senpai and taishin's first date is sooo cute.. the reaction to takara's confess and first kiss of taishin!!!!
The 2nd couple's part is also good... My most favorite part is where taishin thought he see takara senpai as his idol and started following him <3 <3
The ost is also good.. the ost matched perfectly with the storyline.. the singer voice is also good..
the acting of all the actors are so good!! I don't think i can comment on their acting cz if their acting weren't this good no matter how good the story or the plot were, this drama wouldn't be this good...
Lastly I think this drama is going to be my top 3 jdrama... which i am going to watch repeatedly...

They are such an adorable couple!

Taishin is so adorable I can’t stand it! He is so little and innocent it makes me giggle. He is like a little kitten, watch it for him. They are such a great couple. I also really enjoy how they clearly began dating, vagueness in a lot of these dramas can be a bit infuriating. This show is a short and sweet little watch.

Gonna hurry up without ending the show and say that's a really good show already

Pls remember English isn't my first language ☝️
First thing that I felt at the beginning was like !SPOILERS AHEAD! "Why did he came from his city to Tokyo just for him?" Like I was like maybe it's a kind of part of their culture, but not this time. Takara by himself said like "you came here to see me, so whats next you gonna do after thanking me?". And damn you're right, what he gonna do next. Like my personal opinion that love from first sight does not exist, you need time, but the movie production industry loves this trope so I can't say anything, cuz not me will be saying something about love. So, he said that he felt that he wanted to touch him, kiss and all that not heterosexual stuff and Takara was totally freaked out cuz who wouldn't. Like the person that you just calmed down came to this university to see you cuz you weren't careful of saying name of your university. But let me move forward, I'm gonna say I really felt the love, felt how the Takaras feelings appeared and developed and ofc the spark between them. No, Takara wasn't feeling love on their first camping, I think it's the glass earrings scene.
He realised how pretty was his eyes, just like the glass, so he felt the connection with him. He likes glass(childhood trauma) and he's literally the glass but alive. From other side we can see how Taishins feelings started to appear. He was just attracted to him firstly when he just calmed him down (like who wouldn't, he's super handsome and kind), but then he started to learn something about him (in his idol phrase) and absolutely fell for him, for his personality, how he's exactly the opposite of him. Also I think their acting is so natural, cuz I can see the smirks and little giggles that make their characters really alive. I wanted to say too that I firstly found Takaras behaviour a bit tricky like why he's being so harsh with him I thought that he just don't know how to approach him, but that's the part of his personality. That's all. Nothing complicated, that's how he acts and how he used too cuz of his trauma. He doesn't like small talks so he abandons them as soon as he sees the possible end of conversation. I could be wrong but that's how I see his behaviour. Also I really like the scene when Takara try to learn something about Taishins interests. So cute that he wants to approach him the same way as Taishin did. I left it for the final review, the kiss scenes. I really like them actually. Kiss in the 9th episode was so powerful and just bunched with feelings. I reaaaaaaally like how they sit and discuss everything of Takaras straightforwardness and Taishins cluelessity. I really find it healthy and good. So let's talk about their first kiss. I was like ???? when Takara kissed him, this was the least thing I expected his to do honestly. I'm like why with your forwardness you couldn't say straight "I love you too let's date ", and again, let's not forget that he's just kind of weird of his nature, so he picked the most convenient way for him to confess (????). Andddd y'all just watch Takaras gaze when he watching Taishin. He looks like he's crazy over him, that's true btw. Also the whole 9 ep for explaining Takaras feelings was perfect. Just what we exactly needed. Well let me end this cuz I will continue this to infinity.

If you are patient this slow burn romance will surprise.

A handsome university student, out hiking, meets a distressed adolescent. From this encounter the story unfolds.

The adolescent, Nakano Taishin, is awkward, shy and introverted yet he overcomes many of those traits as he persistently tries to get Shiga Takara's friendship.

Shades of 'My Beautiful Man Eternal' in their relationship dynamics as Taishin adores and looks up to Takara unconditionally and Takara portrays his frustration at not being perceived as a flawed individual capable of casual cruelty, like his mother.

Both characters show development as they influence each other and begin to acknowledge the depth of their relationship.
Disappointing ending we are left with a lot of questions and loose ends.

Weird Plot Choices, Overall Great Package

This show shocked me. It took me a lot of places emotionally. I agree that many of the subplots were curious, but maybe they were reflective of the writer's life experiences. Nothing was shallow but rather curious in choice.

Overall, I find myself really liking Taishin and Takara as stand-alone people. I rarely feel this in a BL show, but if I knew either in real life, I find I would quite like both of them. They both in my opinion are level-headed. Taishin can seem chaotic at times, but I feel he deeply considers his every action and when he does something, he means it. Same with Takara, minus the chaotic part lol. They don't act in vain, and I appreciate their ability to be honest with themselves. They make a lovely couple and suit each other well.

I think this was certainly an interesting and enjoyable watch. The episodes one week at a time.. some things may be frustrating. But this show as a package.. yes, I recommend this a lot.

Stands out amongst the normies

So, I've seen almost every JBL there is to see. Here are the two things I hate the most about these stories: problems mainly based on miscommunication, and main characters who have a broom up their a** (french expression to say they are super stiff, don't know how to act or to speak out their mind). These two things were very present in "Our Dining Table" (which I hated, partly for these reasons), so I honestly didn't expect much from this drama. And given how it started, I thought I was going to hate it, but it won me over episode after episode.

Let's start with what people have criticized the most: Taishin.
I see where everyone's coming from. This guy has an annoying voice, cries all the time, acts like a child when he's a whole 19 yo, and, on top of all, changes school to stalk a complete stranger he met once and makes his whole life about that guy.
I agree with a lot of people that it is weird/toxic. It's also pretty ironic after how well they handled the old stalker guy chapter: They gave us the awesome message that even if someone only wants the best for you, it doesn't make it ok for them to follow you around. And then there is a whole Taishin doing the exact same thing and the only times it's adressed are when Takara calls him weird (like twice and they never mention it again).
Now, I would have been pissed by it too but here is the thing: Taishin is clueless to everything. The writers have decided to make him an actual adult child who doesn't even know that homosexuality exists before Takara mentions it. He thinks that life is simple, everyone is nice, and everything is fun to discover, etc... like an actual child. The director decided to make him more of a caricature, so people either hate or love it, but I think it works well because they left no gray area around his characterization.
Also, although he has all these personnality traits that can be annoying, he also has a few nice traits that got me to like him. Like how he speaks his mind all the time (no communication problem, yay!) and how he has hobbys and friends!!! The insane amount of Japanese romances where the main character doesn't have any hobby, interest, or any intention of interracting with other people than the love interest really itches me each time. Taishin likes his bird, hiking, is close to his family, cares about making friends and actually interacts with his friend group. I know it sounds like my standard are very low but it really changes the dynamics a lot. At last, yeah he cries a lot, but he is also super smily and that's just so adorable.

Now onto Takara.
He is your regular, handsome and mysterious love interest that is too cool to talk to mc at first but will fall in love while staying cool and oh god never show too much of his feelings.
Yeah, I'm not fond of this kind of characterization. I didn't really mind it because it's so common I'm used to it by now, but also because he had a great developpment. I like how he actually let himself be seduced little by little by Taishin although he didn't fall in love with him at first sight like in 90% of jbls where the more masculine figure falls in love first. At first he is weirded out and then he finds himself attracted to the small things Taishin does, never anything crazy, so it makes their love very sweet, simple and pure.
1 thing that bothere me about him though: He said twice that he was afraid he'd do something Taishin doesn't like because, just like his mother, when he wants something he doesn't let go. But not a single time did he hurt Taishin because of this. Like, yeah he was nonchalant, yeah he ignored Taishin at first because that's what he does with most people, but none of this has to do with the fact that he doesn't let go of what he wants. And he is actually super nice with Taishin throughout the whole show in his own way. The only moment we see a glimpse of him reaching for what he wants is that scene when he says it for the first time and almost kisses Taishin (very hot btw, mind you) and when he collects marbles, which is totally harmless. There's this thing in screenwriting called "show, don't tell" and I think they messed it up with Takara's characterization because he keeps saying he's a bad guy but never acts like it even once.

But in the end I think I actually got to like him because of their dynamic as a couple. I'm so happy we got to see them grow and spend time together as a couple where in most shows we have to wait until the last episode for them to get together and then we never know how they actually work. And although they are a bit distant at the beginning, they are far from having brooms up their a** (love that expression) as they actually act like a couple and don't hesitate to make move on each other.

That spin off wrapped it up perfectly, giving us the satisfaction of knowing that they won't let go of each other but still leaving space for a second season (I'll be praying lol). I just didn't get the point of the girl who wrote about them. I wish they had split it in two episode so that we'd actually know more about her and get to follow her a bit longer along her info-fishing adventure. It overall felt rushed and unecessary with how little she appeared.

So, overall, I don't think this JBL is revolutionary, I'm probably not going to rewatch it but it was a nice and sweet journey that made me look forward to mondays for a few weeks!

I Wanna Put Taishin in My Back-Pocket

How can one be so perfectly handsome and incredibly endearing simultaneously? I'll tell you who, Eito, the mastermind behind the character Taishin who's an all-around cutey that I want to put in my back pocket. But besides how adorable he is, I thoroughly enjoyed this JBL. It balanced out the actual story plus romance very well, and I watched this without being bored or skipping through or wanting to scream at my laptop.

Let's Dive In.

Now, going into this, I think the first thing I want to point out is a major flaw within a smaller subplot of this series. Taishin ends up being too nice to this older gentleman to the point where this man does everything to "accidentally" bump into Taishin, even going so far as to stay by Taishin's door until nighttime waiting for him to answer. Now, this is, without a doubt, creepy as hell, However, considering the fact that Taishin went so far as to follow Takara to Tokyo to go to his exact university just to be with him isn't much of a difference. This is why I see it as a flaw considering that Taishin himself, although not stated ever in the series, also was pretty much "stalking" Takara. He even buys him his favorite marbles, says really -out-of-pocket things in the beginning, and even states that he moved just to be closer to Takara. Weird? 100%. Again, the show never combats his actions, but it's very clear that in any real-world situation, what Taishin did would not be okay. Even with this, it didn't deter my overall score because everything else was just too good.

Taishin and Takara's relationship is my cup of tea. The stoic seme and the bubbly uke, urgh, they were perfect. I do wish that we could've seen a much more vulnerable side to Takara, like a crying scene, or one where he's emotionally distraught and just letting it all out. There is one scene where he gets vulnerable, but it's not as heavy-hitting as I'd like it to be. I liked the comparison of his liking marbles to then Taishin being his life-size marble and comparing his "shining eyes" to the glass marbles. While it seems incredibly niche to me to like something like looking at regular-degular glass marbles, I think it was a neat add-on for Takara's personality in terms of his upbringing and in the present with Taishin. Taishin is just a ball of sunshine and can do no wrong, which is also the ultimate flaw of his character. It's not so bad to the point where he's unwatchable, but at times, it's hard to tell what the writers were trying to play at with his character. Their relationship is incredibly endearing, and while I won't go so far as to say they had the best chemistry in JBL, I will just say that I enjoyed it enough that it catches me in my feels at certain points, plus there's a delightful height difference that steals my attention immediately. They had some pretty dead fish kiss, not so "dead" per se, but they definitely could've done better.

Another nit-picky thing, but there's this characteristic about Taishin that I'm not sure if it should be read further into or that's just how his character is, but there's a part where he's trying to figure out his feelings for Takara and they play into him not realizing that "gay" was a thing, or that his feelings for Takara were the same as loving an idol. Either he's been super shelter all his life, which could be the case since he's from rural parts of Japan, (even though his mom and entire family seem very open and accepting of Takara, yes only knowing that he's a friend, but still), or he was showing sure signs of being on the spectrum, like wondering what his feelings were, being so blunt about trying to figure it out, being confused with his emotions, growing such an oddly close relationship with his bird that he still talk to him even though he's died. Okay, I'm probably thinking about it way too much, but that's just my look into Taishin's character further.

The special episode is cute, however, it's annoying that they turned their one girl friend into a manic BL-lover who follows Taishi and Takara around and writes them. Other than that though, the special episode is pretty cute.

Ratings:

Story: 8/10 - Rather nice. Flowed well, had some bumps, but it was mostly all smooth sailing. Their romance is also pretty slow-burn which can be a nuance to some, but it was my favorite part.

Acting: 9/10 - Eito is the prettiest, cutest, most handsome man I've seen in BL in a while, and he can also act! Great expressions cried when needed to, and acted so well with his eyes. Same with Yoji (Takara) on the beautiful scale, but I think the writers gave him a pretty one-dimensional character that most actors could've played, just not as devilishly adorable as Yoji. Everyone else did a good job as well.

Music: 6/10 - didn't pay it much attention.

Recommendation Value: 9/10 - it's s cutesy while still holding together a nice and complex plot, the actors are all beautiful, and I definitely think this should be your next watch if you haven't seen it already.

If you want fluff, well this story got you covered!!

I finally finished it and what can I say, as a sucker for fluff story without any conflict, this hint all the spots for me!
...buuuut I will say that some won't like it because of that exact reason; the story is just filled with cute and sweet moments.

If you are someone who prefer very deep story with unique storyline, this story may not be for you.
BUT, if you are looking just for a story to pass the time with that will filled your heart with warmth, WELCOME TO THE CLUB!

I understand that some will hate Taishin's very naive personality, but honestly, I don't mind it. In fact, I'm kind of glad he was the way he is because due to how naive he is, he will say everything that he does not understand or is confused about, especially when it's towards Takara. AND THIS MY FRIEND, AVOIDED ANY SORT OF CONFLICT. LIKE, THERE IS LITERALLY ZERO CONFLICT.

I'm just tired of watching BLs with conflict that is either very predictable or unnecessary. I AM HONESTLY VERY HAPPY THIS STORY HAS NONE OF IT!! Hurray for healthy communication :DDD

And Takara as a character is nothing special, but I do like how he's also - most of the time - say what he thinks, which in my opinion balances well with Taishin's 'dumbness'.

My final words will be; if you prefer story with unique one of a kind deep message, this story is not for you.
I recommend just watch this if you ever feel like watching something light and will make you smile with no worry of the ML every breaking up!

I miss these two honestly, and I might rewatch after awhile because they are just cute!

I just loved Taishin!!

It's been awhile since I have read the manga to this, but from what I remember this was spot on. I liked the manga to begin with this series just made me love it more. ?

In the manga I liked Taishin, he was so cute, even though he was kind of slow with alot of things, and didn't understand things at timers, you couldn't help but like him.

Though in the series Konishi Eito did a great job in playing Taishin, i felt like I was really watching Taishin and not an actor playing a roll. Iwase Yoji did a good job playing Takara as well. He made it look like he was Takara himself IRL, plus he looked really good as this roll.

It was a short series, but cute and sweet non the less. This is one I would watch again.

Nice College Love story

I have a feeling someone would disagree but to each is their own.

Story wise: 9/10
Nothing in particular special about the story honestly. But the ones that got me hooked up on this drama are truly these two leads. One being nonchalant but caring at the same time. One being shy yet as persevering to get close to his senpai. I love their lovely cutesy interactions. I couldn’t asked for more.

Acting: 9.5/10
This drama don’t need no strong emotions honestly since it’s a lighthearted one -that makes it so pleasing to me. I feel like as I grow older I only wanted to watch comedy, lighthearted and no longer buy the angst kind of bad feeling -that keeps me on edge every time a certain villain shows up. I like the premise and the nuance of their acting. Just the right kind of vibe i’m looking for a mini series.

Music: 9.5/10
Music wise I have high regards when it comes to background musicality in every japan drama and this one never fails. It just match up the level of how a certain soundtrack should sound like for a certain series. Not too boring, not too overbearing but just the right kind of vibe.

Rewatch: 9/10
Personally, when it comes to rewatching a movie I am not really a fan of it. But on this one, just for me to feel the nostalgic scent again I could see myself watching this over and over. Their chemistry is truly on the jive. They’re just way too good for a pairing. Couldn’t ask for more.

Overall: 9.3/10

I am rating this 9.2 just because I like everything on it. They’re just too irresistible for me.

Characters that Break Stereotypes

Besides what's already been said, I'd like to center this review on the characters themselves.

I hated My Weatherman and My Beautiful Man, and I've seen some comments comparing Takara No Vidro with these bls. Maybe it's because, on the surface, the relationship seems like a one-sided crush between a kind airhead and a stoic cool guy. But this can't be further from the truth in this case.

Takara is a relatable guy who isn't cold but instead straightforwardly speaks his mind. I thought he'd fall into the bully popular guy trope. But Takara is kind and isn't afraid to smile, laugh, and tell Taishin exactly what's on his mind. Credit to the actor because his subtle eye movement shows exactly what he's feeling.

Taishin is also a game-changer in that he speaks his mind right away and owns up to his feelings. This is refreshing considering that a frustrating pattern in BLs to keep the "suspense" going is to wait until the last second for MLs to communicate their true emotions. I just wish we could've seen more of his past and things that make him more personable.

This is an overall well-put-together bl. Takara and Taishin have worthwhile chemistry, great acting, and a comforting atmosphere.

Takara's character is the only thing worth watching.

It's difficult to understand why someone (Taishin) who is so clueless, nearly deaf, and also a stalker would be loved by others. The main character (Takara, the tall guy) is full of charisma, and that's the only reason I can tolerate this show.
To be fair, only three episodes have been released so far, so my judgment is limited. I'm not sure if the character development will become more acceptable. The storyline isn't bad, and the cinematography is fine. I just can't see how Takara can fall in love with that kind of person. It doesn't look credible at all.
