Such a good, rather relaxed drama. The story has some pretty unique elements to it, separating it from other cliche "separated for X years" dramas, which gives some tension between the characters and causes the audience to question the characters, even though the end result is pretty obvious. The music is really pleasant and well placed. The main supporting leads have some great character development, even though the last few episodes are pretty rushed with several jumps in the timeline, but it is not a big issue since all of the important knots had been undone. Some parts of the story are left without a solid conclusion, but nothing major.
The BEST part of the entire drama was the chemistry between the main characters. The progression of their relationship is very endearing to see and their interactions will make you smile and laugh and think about your own relationships.

I have watched the My Sunshine as a drama, I have watched the directors cut and the movie...

Contains spoilers..

I like Tiffany & Wallace Chung as actors. So when I see them in a drama I could not miss it, ( Please not that I have watched this drama long time ago and just writing my views on it)

Let me tell you I had hard times recognising Tiff here. She looked totally different.

During the University years Mo Sheng is a girl who enjoys taking photos, one day while she was taking photos, she was Yi Chen sitting under a tree and reading a book, he seemed like he did not notice Mo Sheng so she starts to take his photos, when he finally notices her, she gets embarrassed and tells him that she's just taking photos of nature and suddenly he got into the camera angle.

Starting from that moment she follows him like a puppy dog, I mean in a cute way not like a stalker but like a small fan girl.

Yu Chen is the most popular guy in school so every girl wants him but none can him..

He eventually falls in love with lively Mo Cheng, his friends make a bet on which girl he's going to date, he says I would bet on Mo Cheng.

They start to date, one of the most funniest scenes was Mo Cheng joins one of the law classes of Yi Chen and the teacher asks a question and picks Mo Cheng she could not answer she looks for Yi Chen desperately he says he did not listen and after that she says put them all in prision which made all the class laugh, later on one of the students said she's not from our departrment..

One day Mo Cheng's dad visits Yu Chen and says he is not against their relationship if he agrees he can send both to USA but what he ( her dadt )does not know is he is responsible from Yu Chen's dad's sucide.

In an anger Yu Chen tells Mo Cheng that he does not want to see her face ever again and that day Mo Cheng agrees with her dad and decides to fly to USA for Photography Education

While she's in USA she gets married with a lawyer to be able to protect a child, the child of the lady who was her neighbour who had an abusing husband who was helping her when she most needed.

She never loved the lawyer. The lawyer is potrayed by Kevin Tan he is also one of the hottest asian actors of his age.

So while Ying Hiu ( Kevin Tan ) was drunk he tried to kiss Mo Cheng ( he was also in love with her not in the begining when she first send him money without knowing who he is) when he met her immediately fell in love with her. After that incident she decides to get divorced and thinking that she got divorced she returned back home.

One day while she was shopping Mo Cheng sees Yi Chen and Xiao Me step sister of Yi Chen but she's desparetly in love with him, she immediately thinks that they were together

Yi Chen drops her wallet, wallet found by the security who stops Mo Cheng as he is thinking the wallet is hers as there was a photo of hers inside the wallet, the next day she tooks her photo from the wallet and takes the wallet to Yi Chen's office gave it to his secretary and his secretary to Yi Chen..

Yi Chen follows her and asks the photo back, she says she has no idea, but Yi Chen is clever so finally she agrees to give the photo back.

One night while he was drunk he forcely tries to kiss her, but she's scared.

Yi Chen emotionally tortured her alot, when she tried to explain the reasons she got married he did not listen to her..

He was most possibly thinking she gave up on her while he was still deeply in love with her..

And again this was his fault he never explained the reasons why he said I never want to see your face again.

We also learned that after Mo Cheng left Yi Chen even started drinking & smoking.

He was devastated after her leave..

They eventually got married but up until they finally slept together Yi Chen continued to torture her..

After the intimate night seeing that his wife never betrayed her and she was still a virgin, he got softened and he showed love towards her.

while they were deeply trying to live their love, our hot lawyer shows up, Yi Chen knows that the divorce was fake he never actually divorced her, while he was trying to that out, he takes Mo Cheng for honeymoon and switches off his phone, Our hot lawyer is trying to get back Mo Cheng so he is tracking them out,

Mo Cheng learns that he never actually divorced her much later.. Yi Chen learns about Ying Hiu's ( Kevin Tan)'s company's problems and he eventually agrees to sign the divorce agreement.

By the time Mo Cheng falls pregnant and Yi Chen becomes much more caring.. On the final scene we see that they took their child to the university campus telling how they met.

It was very emotional I have cried most of the scenes. Music was great. I loved the opening music and still listen to it.. ( Zhang Jie is singing it)

I seriously disliked her wardrobe, but maybe they did on purpose as she was playing little naive, lively girl.

Oh and the English Ying Hiu (Kevin Tang), you suppose to be a businessman living in US and your English is bad.

As someone who watched 3 versions of this drama I recommend you to watch this version first and then if you wish watch director's cut and the movie ( the actors are different in the movie, the plot is the same, the only difference is she does not fall pregnant ( Mo Cheng) and she learns that Yi Chen came to US to find her. It is also less violent.

Carcrash!

Possibly the most awful drama I have ever watched. Two leads do not communicate at all which is where the musunderstandings occur. FL mumbles her way thru the drama with her head down and takes insults, accusations and physical assaults without any resistance. She used to be feisty at college- howcdidcshe become a cekebrsted photographer when she is an utter pushover and so weak? ML accuses FL of leaving him when he told her to get lost . Her dad did something to his dad? Never explained. Or maybe I missed it as fast forwarded thru so much. Did not miss his two violent assaults on her- which she just accrpted.
If this is what the chinese think is romance they seriously have issues.

Watched the drama and the movie version of this. There is several things better in the movie but there is also several things better in the drama.

What i love most in this drama than the movie version is Xiao Xiao (XX) relationship with Lu Yuan Feng (LYF). Really cute and adorable. Really glad they give other couple relationship and connection too, not only focus with He Yi Chen (HYC) and Zhao Mo Sheng (ZMS).

What i think better in the drama is the ending He Yi Mei (HYM) felling toward HYC. She give herself a closure, even can get a new relationship ^.^

What i don't really like is actually they not really give us clue how the cheerful ZMS in her youth became so gloomy/calm (depend on how you feel her, for me is more like gloomy than calm) in the future. And what really happen with ZMS dad is also not really give too much explanation, why ZMS dad sent her to America, for me there is not really clear explanation.

HYC feeling toward ZMS too not been given so much explanation. It's like jumpling to conclusion where one minute HYC still mad at ZMS but the other minute he already forgive and forget. Yeah i know HYC is like that in person, but still feel to fast forward.

Cast: Because i don't read the book for me ZMS is better portrait by Tiffany Tang in the drama version. HYC also better portrait by Wallace Chung in the drama version. XX and LYF also perfect cast.

Re-watch: I don't think so... Maybe several episode or scene only

SPOILERS.

Awesome series. It was refreshing to watch a love triangle where the male lead is being tricked and does not waver from his stnce to keep his love. Loved how the male lead would always have the most professional come-backs to the other male in his love triangle. Good Job. Though I found the female lead excruciatingly timid and cannot beleive that the truth came out so late in the series when she could have told him so much sooner which is more realistic in everyday life. But having a lawyer for a husband is well worth it.

If you don't want to waste your time on such an obviously predictable storyline, then just watch the Mini Series. Trailers of this drama mad it promising, but after watching it, its just an average drama. Viewers beware of a drama that doesn't have any drama in it with the main cast.

My reasons...

After the 5th or 7th episode it was super predictable they would end up together, so the rest of the drama I didn't have an emotional connection with the main cast. The love they had for each other was so straight forward that there was nothing that could separate their love. ZMS NEVER EVER FELL IN LOVE WITH the other rival. The rival character had 0 (Zero) chance with ZMS. Such a waste of my time. You could probably watch the first 6 or 7 episodes and skip to the last episode and your life would not be wasted by 15+ episodes of pointless information.

The secondary characters were the only thing that kept me watching because you don't know which one of them will end up with each other. This is just some average drama with an average plot. There was never a time that i was like "OH DANG". The story is really straight forward in where they were lovers in college, then something happened for them to leave each other for seven years, then coming back together. There was no MIDDLE MAN in the drama.

I don't recommend this drama to people for the fact that it is just too plain and straight forward. Just watch the Mini Series and you will not miss any of the 15+ middle episodes.

Watch this only if you can stand unhealthy relationships being idealized.
I watched this drama last year after enjoying Gu Man's other adaptations "Boss and Me" and "A Smile is very Alluring". However, I ended up dropping it at episode 10 because I could not stand the story and the main characters. Even being used to possesive male leads in kdramas and chinese dramas, Yi Chen was just too much for me. It also frustrated me how Mo Sheng got blamed about their problems by literally everyone else. Their terrible communication skills left me wondering how their relationship could survive later on.
So why did I finish this drama now?
People kept talking about how good this story was, even better than the other two Gu Man novel's I've read. Was I missing something? So I wasted another 22 hours of my life.
I think the actors did a decent job. It's not Tiffany's acting but her character that is bland. I haven't watched Wallace Chung in other dramas but his expressions were always on point. The music was probably the best about this drama, but that would never make go through 32 chapters of frustration and agony again.

A good series, more and less wasted by a incoherent writing (on some arcs)

Plot: Reunion 7 years later, of 2 ex-lovers (he is now a lawyer and sheis a photographer) who had left on bad terms, then exile, marriage, divorce, etc.
Always loving each other, they will little by little dispel misunderstandings, overcome obstacles and succeed in being together.

PROS:
+ Story (more or less) intelligent and realistic.
+ Rhythm of narration approximately correct, but lengths in the last third.
+ with Wallace Chung (ML) & Tiffany Tang (FL - with really, really ugly hairstyles and inelegant outfits (-̩̩̩-̩̩̩-̩̩̩__-̩̩̩-̩̩̩-̩̩̩))
+ for the youth part Luo Yun Xi (ML) and Janice Wu in FL (both excellent)
+ Very good OSTs (especially the song sung by Wallace Chung).

CONS:
- the part supposed to be located in New York is not credible at all: the settings, the streets,... Seriously? Has the director already set foot in New York? The "marriage circumstances" part isn't credible either. No more than the Divorce part. Serious !

- This narrative arc conveys the image of a gullible FL, even idiotic in its immense naivety. And she's supposed to have managed on her own, without money, for years in NY??

- The adopted child (100% American actor:( ) is “unadopted” to return to China with his mother?

- The final episode is a puzzle of flashbacks. The ending could have been so much better...

=> this series could have been a MASTERPIECE with better writing. It remains pleasant to watch thanks to the dream casting.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After watching Wallace Chung in all out of love and too late to say I love you and enjoying his on screen charisma and ability to draw our chemistry with his female leads with even the worst story line I decided to watch more of his dramas.

You are my sunshine is a fairly simple feel good drama, the love story starts from college days between the young couple and here the female leads chases after the male lead in a kinda cute way until he fell for her, his jealous half sister decided to come between them and told mo Sheng that she is in love with her brother Yi Shen and when mo Sheng wanted to clarify, Yi chen angrily told her to stay away from him because of her father’s proposition to him and she assuming that he broke up with her decided to leave for USA where other events eventually led her to stay for the next 7 years .

Yi chen became broken hearted, finished school and became successful but he kept hoping his Mo Sheng would return back to him and he kept waiting Until one day 7 years after when he was almost going to look for her in USA before giving up, he sees her again back in shanghai, he was initially angry at her and eventually seeking her out with the excuse of a law suit from her friend, he finally found out she had gotten married for 3 years in USA which further broke his heart and he refused to hear Mo Sheng side of the story even after she told him she he also divorced, then Yi chen suddenly decided to get married to Mo Sheng and they went to register their marriage and started living together but with a strained relationship.

Mo Sheng ex fake husband suddenly realized that he lost a good potential wife and since he didn’t finish his divorce proceeding decided to go and win Mo Sheng back as his real wife and he used all manner of schemes to make Yi chen give up on Mo Sheng but Yi chen wasn’t ready to let go but instead started getting closer to Mo Sheng until he began to trust her completely again.

He eventually solved all the problematic hurdles and got married to Mosheng and they have a son

Xiao Xiao and Yi Feng also had a lovely relationship in this drama

And everyone basically got a happy ending. Al cast chemistry was really good

Take this review with a grain of salt because I've tried watching this drama for 4 times. Once a year since 2015 before I finally got the chance to appreciate it now in 2019. Now that I'm finally done with it, I'll say it was good. It took a looooooong time before it got better. I'd say in the 20-ish episode already. It needs a good mood and maybe a much mature mindset to appreciate this drama because it is about relationships. The nuances and the silence took a large play in the treatment of the director. The times I've watched it, I had been to a lot of different frequencies and maybe now was the right moment for me that's why I get past all the long winding episodes, only to realize later on that these are establishing of a lot of things for later.

Wallace Chung is a gem. I've always thought he is the Lee Seung Gi of China. They have the same aura, and they both sing their OSTs too. He did He Yi Chen justice.

To everyone who are planning to drop this drama, trust me it gets better.

Best Asian Romance Show Ever!

I am an avid Asian drama lover, but I never watched any romance as good as “My sunshine “ . The acting , the chemistry , and the story line is marvelous . I can’t understand why anyone would rate the show lower than an 10. Wallace Chung and Tiffany Tang definitely became my favorite Chinese actors after watching this show . I have watched this drama more than 10 times , never get tired of watching it, and always found something new that I missed the prior times. It is a beautiful love story about true lovers , separation , and miscommunication which made them suffer from hurt . But , even though they were hurt by each other , they never once fell out of love . I also enjoyed the second lead characters. Everyone in the drama was superb!!!

I love me some angsty romance and this one is definitely up there!! I don't like 2nd chance romances too but this definitely made me stay. So angsty even from the beginning, it's delicious. The chemistry was great and the acting too (don't mistake Moshang's bland character for her acting). Gets draggy towards the end (when does any drama never, amiright) and A LOT OF FLASHBACK THROUGHOUT THE SERIES. Seriously, expect a lot of them. I just fast forward them, pretend they don't exist so I don't waste my time lol

I saw a comment saying they didn't like the university flashback (it goes on for a few episodes) so it threw me off a bit (as i don't flashbacks too, that's why i don't like 2nd chance romance stories) BUT I ended up LOVING the university flashbacks (esp bc the actors did so well and were SO CUTE!!).

So if u like angsty romance (like kdrama Secret) and intense chemistry from the get-go, have patience for a meek FL & obsessive & stubborn ML and is ready for a ton of fast forwarding, then I recommend this. Seriously, if this has been in your "to watch" list, WATCH IT NOW (it was in mine too, for a year lol)! I thoroughly enjoyed this one. It's on youtube with eng subs btw, you might find my comments there lol.
