The second season of Squid Game is also a certified hit.

On December 31, Flix Patrol shared that Netflix's original K-drama Squid Game Season 2 ranked first in 92 countries after its release. They also revealed that it remained number 1 in 93 countries for three days. 

Since the release of the new season, there have been divided opinions about the K-drama. While some viewers enjoyed the narrative direction, others expressed dissatisfaction. Foreign media outlets showed these sentiments, with some criticizing the season for being dull and underwhelming. However, the series also received praise for introducing new characters and exploring the perspectives of the guards.

The old and new added characters also received favorable reviews especially Lee Byung Hun, Park Sung Hoon, Lee Seo Hwan, and more. 

Although the new season of Squid Game ranked first in 93 countries, the K-drama failed to beat the first-week record release of The Glory Part 2

Squid Game Season 2 premiered on December 26. The K-drama is exclusively available on Netflix. 

Squid Game Season 2 was led by  Lee Jung Jae, Lee Byung Hun, Yim Si Wan, Kang Ha Neul, Lee Jin Wook, Park Sung Hoon, Yang Dong Geun, Kang Ae Shim, Lee Seo Hwan, and Jo Yu Ri, Wi Ha Joon, Park Gyu Young, Won Ji An, David Lee, Noh Jae Won, and former BIGBANG member T.O.P. Gong Yoo also returned to the new season and made a special appearance. 

The new season featured the return of Seong Gi Hun (portrayed by Lee Jung Jae) to the game, motivated by a desire to end the game. The Frontman (portrayed by Lee Byung Hun) facilitated his return, inviting him back to participate in the deadly game once more.

The new season is directed and produced by director Hwang Dong Hyuk

Squid Game Season 2 has a total of 7 episodes. The third and final season will premiere in 2025
