As a subordinate to Kang Hang Soon, he served as a ninth-grade military official. Following Kang Hang Soon's orders, he has been engaged in undercover activities, crossing between the Qing Dynasty and the Ming Dynasty for a long time. Secretly aiding Kang Hee Soo, he works on redeeming powerless people taken to the Qing Dynasty, paying for their release.
While performing these tasks, he discovers Hong Jang, the sister of Yu Hyun Bo, and falls in love with her. After enduring severe torture, he loses one eye.
