Nanahara Kenta

Before the Accident

Nanahara Kenta is a high school boy. He goes to meet his longtime friend, Amano Yashiro. Soon after arriving, Yashiro confesses to him. Surprised, Kenta reminds Yashiro that he has only ever dated girls before. Aware, Yashiro nods, and goes on to tell about his shrine visits before confessing again. Kenta rejects him, explaining that he can't see them together. Feeling bad about the situation, he calls out to Yashiro as he leaves, wondering if they will still be friends. Yashiro turns and reassures him that they will. He is then hit by a truck right in front of Kenta.

After the Accident

Kenta sees Tendou Kagura for the first time after leaving the shrine Yashiro used to visit, thinking that she is strange. At school, Kagura is seated next to him. She tries to start a conversation with him that turns awkward. Later in the day, he is surprised when she suddenly hits him on the head while walking down the stairs. This is something Yashiro used to do to him in the past, which he mentions to her. Kagura asks him about his friend, but he does not wish to talk about Yashiro, still hurting from the accident. After school, Kenta revisits the spot Yashiro was hit, saddened.

The next day, Kenta appears friendly with Kagura and tells her they are friends. When she wishes to walk home together, he declines. His ex-girlfriend appears right after, teasing him that he is hitting on Kagura.
