I think the director wanted to showcase the main lead's son's power in the end, but it had to be epic and meaningful. That's why, earlier, the writer/director chose to kill the main lead and then used his son to bring him back in the end.

we needed a season 2 or more episodes, i hate dramas with 12 eps. the ending is always rushed
