Can’t remember in which episode but MJH and his right hand man mention their evidence and plan hinges on the fact MJH saw  Minister of Defense in the crowd during thee fire.  So yeah paper thin plan that took 10 years to hatch. Sigh.

It was a very recent episode. I remember that scene too.

And yes, paper thin! They should have embroidered (heh) in more uncovered evidence! The drama had so many flashbacks, why not one more of him listening to the evidential points and then him laughing out maniacally ala Mad Hatter as he realized it was his own brother and hearing how horrible it was for his own warrior brothers?!

Yes, you and I are sisters after the darkness, haha. They gave us Gothic in the first five episodes and it's about to turn gothic again with the whipping at the ground to retrieve the corpse scene as well as drinking with and sleeping with the dead Mei Lin. I told you guys in one of my ruminations that MRJH in his madness was like the Chinese version of Heathcliff. Indeed, here it was, him digging up a corpse because Heathcliff did the same thing with his beloved Cathy.

I love the opening of Ep 2.  because this is the scene where I think all of MJH personas come together. He is playing the Mad Hatter but he has such a viciousness when he shoots her leg. He is testing her will, but I felt it was partly MJH being himself, displaying vindictiveness for what happened to him, becoming crippled. The lines felt blurred in this scene. Mei Lin also had a madness in her eyes. And when they both fell to the ground and stared at each other, it was powerful.

That was indeed so damn powerful. And you know what? It was equally powerfully mirrored in the recent scene when he gave her away to XiyanGreenTeaPrince to save her. He pointed the arrow weapon at her, but this time there was no madness, just desperate and resigned love.

We, as the viewers, want to believe in that change from Point A to Point B, and  yes, the parts were there, just clumsily stitched in (I'm loving our embroidery talk here!).

He'd shot at her and even whipped her and she still stuck with his craziness. Now that he'd shown her his softer love side, she's going to do all these weird "I have my path now" attitude in these last few episodes. Well, ptui!  LOL.

5 years would have been more plausible and long enough for us to believe she has become an OP assassin and in a way their traumatic past to be still  raw. People have asked about how old the characters are meant to be because 10 years is a long time. Logically MJH and Mei Lin would have to be in their 30’s for 10 years to make sense. This is close to their real age but in c-dramas it is rare to see leads to actually already be this mature.

The ten year thing is problematic precisely of their age thing. I questioned elsewhere the lack of concubines for men their ages! Because surely he didn't go off as Wei Bei general at 13? And if I say, okay, 16, then he would be 26, and even if he stayed single because he was crazy, surely not the Clown Prince, who was a few years older?  LOLOL. The writers  didn't think this out well.

I don't mind them older at all because that lends some gravitas to the hatred and the mind games. I think it would also add something unique to the story. So let's not make MRJH shy in bed in later episodes AFTER that bathtub scene where he displayed such umm...not-very-shy skills! Right?! I'm still rolling my eyes at that.

Yup, they are writers and they couldn’t do the maths?!

Having four writers sounds like a nightmare tho…and yet 4 brains (hmmm) could not pick up some glaring holes.

They should be taken outside and taught a lesson.

I’m not a writer like you so I’m not always quick on the pick up but some things just stick out.

Yes indeed you said MJH is Heathcliff. Only MJH has gone one step further in madness and is digging up a  corpse with a whip.

In Wuthering Heights, it was implied Heathcliff dug up the gravesite to lie next to Cathy's corpse.

Forgot that detail about Heathcliff…and it’s  implied because their story is told from perspective of other narrators.
