No, they're not related by blood. Qi Yu looks like Wu Xie to make everyone believe Wu Xie was Qi Yu in all of the plans. It was an elaborate scheme to confuse the enemy.

I don't remember if the books ever said, but I think it's just assumed that they were able to figure out what Wu Xie looked like through technology or some other way. In the same universe, they're also able to create perfect face masks that can replicate other people, so it certainly takes some liberties on what is plausible in this regard xD

A direct continuation of Ultimate Note is kind of up in the air because that production company lost the rights to the author. BUT the author is the chairman of the production company, NP Entertainment, which produced Reunion: Seasons 1 & 2, Mystic Nine, and Tomb of the Sea. NP Entertainment also has plans for more television adaptations of other books (the shows are based on a series of books called Daomu Biji (盗墓笔记) or The Grave Robbers' Chronicles as well as its sequels and prequel. )

In the meantime, you can read the direct continuation of Ultimate Note in vol. 8 here. Ultimate Note is pretty close to the novel, however, supernatural stuff does exist (ghosts, zombies, etc.)

Will they release ultimate note S2 ? Soon? No? In 2025? Or 2026? Aah I can't wait .. I just finished it and didn't know about its not completed.. I just watched it because I saw it is interesting and it was really good series.. but didn't expect it to be continued.. if I knew I wouldn't start to watch.  

Lot of things unanswered and omg they really ended it like that.. ? what happened to Zhang and team . They are still in the cave broo? .. I really didn't expect that ending.. I should have checked the series information before watch. But I really didn't expect something like that . After I checked I saw they haven't made Volume 8 . And don't know when..  idk what to do.. I'm dying from curiosity.. I gotta forget that I watched this.  ?.. actually this drama was really good.. I can't forget. But that ending, I really want to know what happened next .  I guess I have to wait till S2 release. I'm afraid I don't have patience ??..  please make the V8 .. and thanks for making this drama . Its really good ❤️
