Good idea to make a thread to thanks all the subbers. I want to say how grateful I am to all those people I don't know but thanks to whom I was able to discover some kind of new world (Dramaland), and thanks to whom my life seems brighter. It's not too much to say that they helped me to stay sane when times where sometimes hard at work, because I was able to flee in Dramaland at night when going back home. And thanks to them I am able to spend funny times on this forum. Without them, I would'nt have started watching dramas, 'cause even if I'm trying to learn Japanese by myself, I am still unable to understand what is going on without any subs. Not to say that I would'nt have tried any korean drama as well.
I do agree with the fact that subbers who are re-translating subs into their native language have to be thanked the same way. I can imagine that not anybody is able to follow English subs if it's not their native language, especially the youngest one who are currently still learning English at school. I mean, i would'nt have been able to follow any of the drama I've seen so far when I was 15, my English skills were not good enough for that (even though I was a good student at the time).
And finally, thanks to all that super subbers, I became so addicted to j-dramas that I decided to go on holidays in Japan on summer 2011, a thing I would never have contemplated one year before. My best holidays so far, i'm eagering to going there one more time!!
I can understand that people complain about bad subbings when they manage to understand quite well the original language, but I don't find it fair, because, like OP said, it takes many of their free time, and they do it for free. The subbers work seems amazing. I wish I could join any subbing team but alas, the journey will be long (will it ever end???) till I will be able to simply understand what is going on in dramas in raw.
