Hello ?

I wanted to talk to you about an exciting discovery that, surprisingly, I haven't been able to find an answer to anywhere.

I'm a huge soundtrack fan and when I've given my heart to a film or series, I really enjoy listening to the soundtrack to stay in that mood for a bit.

One of the best soundtracks I've ever heard (a bit like Hans Zimmer) is actually the "K2" soundtrack. I just melted during the series and "Anemone" (the Zan version) in particular brings me to tears every time. This piece is truly one of the most beautiful and touching songs I know - and I know many. I then came to terms with the MP3 purchase option, since the OST is actually no longer (anymore?) available to purchase as a CD. Too bad!

Because of my love of music, I always keep an extremely close ear to what happens musically in a film/series and during the series I always had the brief impression “Oh? Was that just German? .. but I kept discarding it because the exciting scene continued and I didn't want to miss any of the subs. Now I've been listening to the songs over and over for days and I noticed that some songs are actually in German! are sung, but you can't hear it straight away because of the cute ❤ accent. I found a video with text  (just enter “Anemone Zan” on YouTube.) The song is even called “Anemone” ? which is a German name for a flower). I have to admit, since I know the lyrics, it's kind of hard for me to sing along... ?? ? Other songs with German lyrics include track no. 8 "The witch and the girl" ("Bringt das Kind ins Haus … du sollst es töten") or track 9: “Mirror mirror” (“Spieglein, Spieglein an der Wand”…).

I would of course be very interested to know where the connection to the German language comes from? Germany plays no role in the drama. So why German? I've already googled but haven't found anything. Do any of you know anything about it?

I'm so excited to hear your answers ❤

I'm very interested in this as well! I recently rewatched this drama and was thinking about how the song was in a different language. Originally I thought it was italian or latin, but when I searched up the lyrics I saw that it was in German and was quite surprised. What is really interesting to me is that they didn't use a native speaker to sing it, as I first thought. Then I tried to look for if an original version of this song existed somewhere, cus I thought maybe it was a cover of a german folk song, but it seems Choi Cheol-ho really just decided to make it in german. I have no idea why. I tried looking around for an answer but found nothing. Would be interesting to find an answer to this :D

I've also thought about it a lot. Even for me, a German native speaker, the text was not immediately understandable. You really have to hear it again and again. One idea could be that the German language was chosen because of the connection to the Brothers Grimm. The song lyrics all have fairy tale content and the Brothers Grimm from Germany were very well-known fairy tale collectors. The AI, which is depicted in the series as a mirror - similar to Snow White - also has a fairytale reference. It could go in this direction.
