Your opinions on "aegyo"

ahahahaha they are really funny. love it. *subscribes* for the record the aegyo thing to me is cute to a point, when it's laid on really thick it gets annoying and kind of.. well.. demeaning. in dramas it tends to be irritating because, well haven't you noticed that it's usually the antagonist that does it? they act all cutesy to the main lead male to get their way when we all know that they're really manipulative conniving spoiled brats that are totally plotting and scheming and the ML is totally oblivious to their true nature... argh... so of course we hate it because we're SUPPOSED to hate it. i haven't watched a ton of kdramas but so far all the ones i've seen that have over the top aegyo it's been the character we're meant to hate, so maybe that's why they lay it on so thick

I love aegyo, but I hate kdramas. I know, a weird contradiction. I lived and worked in Korea for 2 years and I would have to agree with everything said in Martina and Simon's video as far as everyday aegyo. It's there, but it's not in your face like dramas and kpop. Korean life isn't like in the dramas. I think one of the reasons women resort to so much plastic surgery and aegyo acting is because of the (obvious) extreme male dominance there (and they also have to compete with all the gigantic red light districts). Korea is kind of like a man's fantasy land to be honest, and if I was a woman, I would hate it.

Most of the time I get annoyed by aegyo, especially in dramas. I don't mind when idols are asked to do it, or when people do it on variety shows (and what not) because they're all just joking around with it...and it is very funny to see sometimes. In the drama Heartstrings, I almost gave up on the show because the drummer annoyed the f*k out of me. That, to me, is an example of when aegyo is massively overused. To sum up my thoughts, aegyo = GOOD when rarely/occasionally used aegyo = BAD when excessively used :)

Well I love aegyo since 'cute' is my type .__. And I think when people do aegyo they can be soo cute. So I do like aegyo. But well I have to admit some people not really fit with cute image so when they do aegyo it just make you hate them .__.

Overheard this today Girl: What do you think of aegyo? Korean Guy: ALL Korean men like aegyo.

I hate it !! What a stupid thing to do.
