About "Drama Shower" (BL dramas airing on MBS)

"Drama Shower" (ドラマシャワー) was an MBS time slot specialized in BL drama productions. The project was launched in April 2022 and it was originally a one-year limited project, but due to its success and popularity, MBS decided to renew it for another year. In March 2024 it was announced that My Strawberry Film would be the last installment of the time slot and that, as of April 2024, Drama Shower would be replaced by a new time slot called "Drama Fill". Drama Fill is a more generic time slot that includes non-BL series, as well (the first installment of Drama Fill is in fact the non-BL psychological thriller Ubawareta Bokutachi).

Drama Shower was a collaboration between MBS — the same broadcasting company as My Beautiful Man — and Tunku (トゥンク) — a new drama label established by KADOKAWA, which has many hit BL manga and novels under its belt. In Japanese "tunku" is an onomatopoeic word that suggests the sound of a pounding heart. The hope is that these BLs will take their viewers on an exciting journey, making their hearts beat.

Unfortunately Jack o' Frost may be the last installment in Drama Shower. It's also shorter than the other series, which makes me think it's due to the contract expiring soon and their decision not to renew it. But let's wait and see, maybe MBS has more in store for us ^^

In this list, only Eien no Kinou doesn't have blatant uke. 

UPDATE: Jack o' Frost will NOT be the last installment in Drama Shower!! The project was successful, so it's been renewed. This means MBS will keep making BL series under the "Drama Shower" label.

After Jack o' Frost, MBS will release the "complete version" of Eien no Kinou (basically, a director's cut edition with additional scenes). Starting from June, a new Tunku BL will air.

That is such exciting news! Thank you for keeping us all updated. Japanese BL’s have been killing it lately. Now to make my life complete, a second season of Old Fashion Cupcake will be announced. Fingers and toes crossed. 

Can we assume that they already have shows in production and may even have filmed or be filming now? I’d think they would have continued production before making the announcement.
