Hi everyone I've just browsed through my DL and discovered that I it lacks in the j-romcom department. After scouting through the forum and recommendations I am still unconvinced. I've seen a couple (check my DL) but few that I rate highly. Is that a general thing? Do the japanese have a cultural bias against Happy Endings? Usually I prefer j-dramas (at least language wise, because I don't need subs) but they are making it hard on me to find good ones... :3
well I suggest you Love Shuffle http://mydramalist.com/japanese-drama/115/love-shuffle
or if you like a comical love story you can try Nodame Cantabile http://mydramalist.com/japanese-drama/32/nodame-cantabile
If you like drama with a school genre,i prefer Gokusen (i love Gokusen season 2) For drama/movie with suspense genre,i prefer Bloody Monday and Saigo No Yakusoku (Death Note also kinda good) For family genre,i think i prefer Atashinchi No Danshi I don't really like romance drama but my friend says Lovely Complex kinda interesting, its worth trying, right? PS : Bloody Monday is a must-watch drama :)
Forgot to say,you can watch all of these here, just to let you know :)

^I thought gokusen more school drama eh,, bloody monday is suspense, and atashinci no danshi is comedic
i second Love shuflle and Nodame cantabile, and will add Hotaru no Hikari (2 seasons + a movie). but Romcom are hard to find in Jdramaland, alas!
Since you asked about rom-coms, I went through my DL to see what I could find. Sadly, I can't say that I would classify any of the Japanese dramas I've seen as strictly romantic comedies. Plenty of romance dramas, plenty of funny dramas. So what I'm going to do is recommend a few Jdramas that I would classify as romance, even if others might classify them as sports, school, workplace, or family dramas. I don't do tragedies, so none of them are going to pull a 49 Days plot twist at the end :) Take a look at the synopsis for each one and hopefully you'll find one or two that interests you. Anego Atashinchi no Danshi Bokura ga Ita Kouhen/Bokura ga Ita Zenpen (2 part movie - very good!) Buzzer Beat (loved it!) Hana Kimi (the original, not the remake! One of my all-time favorites!) Hana Yori Dango (still my favorite version of Boys Over Flowers) High School Debut (movie) Kimi wa Petto (a favorite) Lovely Complex (movie) Mei-chan no Shitsuji (LOVE LOVE LOVE) Natsu no Koi wa Nijiiro ni Kagayaku Ouran High School Host Club Paradise Kiss (movie, and a favorite) Pride (LOVE LOVE LOVE) Rich Man, Poor Woman (loved it) I would also recommend Zettai Kareshi, but that may be my Mizushima Hiro crush talking :) Love Shuffle and Nodame Cantible were okay for me, but I don't seem to find NC as awesome as everyone else does. And if you're willing to watch really old dramas, Kimura Takuya's Long Vacation (made in 1995) was a fun watch.

p.s. dont belive into word korean-drama in links, it is confusing - all listed dramas are JDramas.

how could I have forgotten Pride??? Definitely a must watch, not beacause of Kimura (though it could be a good reason) but because it is indeed very good.
Thanks for the links, Raincat, i added some on PTW list too.
