I think it is stated in the first episode that he is. I think Hana's mother tells her before they arrive, but I may be remembering incorrectly. Also, if I am right about it, it also could have been a translation error. However, his behavior, especially in the first half of the drama, strongly suggests that he is autistic. In the second half, not so much.

I watched the first episode but I can't remember the word "autism" being used in the subtitles, so I was thinking it might be a mistranslation in the synopsis. Is there any insight given into his personality/behaviour as a child before the death of his mother?

I've seen this so long time ago but i find it good tho...
