Not too long, Dapina: I've read it with great pleasure. Thank you for replying to my post. :D
I don't know if I have a delicate palate - I've watched and enjoyed my share of very light-hearted, unpretentious dramas for no other reason than a good looking actor or the fun, but it certainly is true that some dramas have "spoiled" me a little, possibly forever. It's like tasting a really good wine once and then going back to the one sold in bricks, lol
And please don't think that I pine over little details just for the sake of controversy, the same plot device I find lovely can be considered a major flaw by someone else.

You are very right: I don't think I would have appreciated Park Ha/Bu Yung sacrifice. I am disturbed by the martyr heroines because it seems to me they send the viewer the wrong message: women have to completely forget themselves to be loved. I am a shipper of heroines who love themselves too and are loved because they are flawed, not because they obliterate themselves. Their usual complete lack of ambition is highlighted by the villain girl, who, not at random, is often a career woman. I see a pattern here, and one I don't like one bit.

The reincarnation issue in romantic dramas is not one of my favourite either. I don't believe people fall in love with a soul, I believe we fall in love with a person, body AND spirit. So, while the reincarnation subject is interesting on a philosophical level, in my opinion it becomes a "dirty trick" in romance.

I apologize too for the length. All these considerations are actually more general than directly related to this particular drama. The fact that RTP triggered the discussion plays in its favour, though. :)
nekoblah wrote: its a discussion for a reason xD i kinda like seeing what people think about the drama. I personally like this drama and i can see there is lots of disagreements but hey everyone got different taste xD

I agree! I enjoy a healthy debate, as long as people aren't being insulted for having a different opinion. If a drama receives too much praise, I usually look out for the voice of dissent before deciding if I will watch it. I sometimes am that voice of dissent too, at times just to vent, but usually because I think it helps to hear other opinions. It's why I always check in with MDL before deciding on what to watch next.

I think members should never let good or bad posts stop them from sharing their opinion. I loved rtp, and knowing that someone else didn't won't change that.

Aigoo, this is probably why I can't let it go either! Thank you for a good discussion. I agree that the points being addressed are more general though I'm glad that's all off my chest.

May I get off the topic for a bit...

I got this off from a post in a RP fan thread where the one who posted it was part of the Joseon Power Rangers subbing team in Viki:

wrote: Hi dropping off a comment from of the Joseon Power Rangers main subber. Who apparently cried and cried at the ending. And it's not what you might think it's about. You guys can investigate it I guess.

Apparently the writer lost his wife 6 years ago. All the words Yi Gak said to Bak Ha, was his confession. He is a romantic and those words expressed his dedication and pureness of heart. Her words not mine.

Honestly, I actually felt more terrible discovering this piece of news rather than from the ending of the drama. Imagine wanting to say these to your wife and hoping that somewhere out there, she will be able to hear your heart. Gosh.

The words in bold are supposed to be italicized. I got a little heartbroken when I read this bit. I tried to check out more info about Lee Hee Myung (the scriptwriter of Rooftop Prince) but got no other info about his personal life. (That and I can't understand Hangul. :P) Apparently he wrote a few dramas in the past as well, the last one before RP was Bad Family, which was 6 years ago. :(
Rooftop Prince creates a sensation in Asia

...and i can vouch for this because i met quite a few Mainland Chinese at Kim Hyun Joong's fan meeting and they were all about "Ok-tab-bang Wang-se-ja" lol...they didn't understand when i said The Rooftop Prince at first lol...
that's cuz it's awesome yo!
This drama was THE BEST!! I loved every moment of it :)
I am at the sixth episode and I feel bored I don't know should I resume watching and downloading this drama or not ?! will it be better or not ?

personally i feel the first couple eps are one of my favorites in this drama, if your not feeling the laugh already and your not really into the mystery behind the story then i would suggest you to stop. I really liked this drama and i know there are a bunch of others that love it too, however there were also some like you who never got interest and was just disappointed all the way to the end.

i fast forwarded through about half of this drama, but i ended up really liking the parts i watched. the mystery of it wasnt really anything that hooked me b/c the plot holes were huge and glaring and some of the characterization left alot to be desired. basically if a scene doesnt have one of the power rangers or the main couple in it, feel free to FF right on through. i just watched the parts that were funny and romantic.

Maybe some episodes (very few), but it mostly stays the same.

Every time I go into my list and see it, I take off a point...lol It started on 5 now it's down to 3....

I loved the first 12 episodes (I say that objectively and without my DBSK bias) but the last 8 I only watched because I love Yoochun and Han Ji Min. I dont know what happened. Suddenly they started speaking in their minds and it felt like they changed writers. The story was all over the place. Also there was less of the trio (who were definitely my favourite characters). Basically what Im trying to say is if you dont like it already i dont think you're not gonna like the rest ^_^

Honestly, I would keep going! I, too, felt a little bored in the beginning. The power rangers, as someone above called them, were the only thing that kept me going. But once you get about 8 or 9 episodes in, it starts getting seriously good with the romance angle. Though, I will admit, I wanted to murder Park Ha's sister at least a kajillion times in this show!
SPOILER Hahah :D I guessed accurately at the 1st episode that the one who dies is Boo Young :P But it's so sad if you think about it :( Lee Gak gets to live all by himself :( At least Park Ha meets up with Tae Young or Lee Gak (I think he remembered everything, or they consciousness intertwined) at the end <3 Loved it very much ! And beautiful soundtrack! 10! :D
Just marathoned RP ^^ I liked it! I'd have liked to see a little more of PH and TY at the end, but that is my usual lament.
