I really enjoyed the dynamic in Lost Love in Times and I Hear Your Voice (and sort of in W) where the leads fell for each other and then the ML lost his memories of the FL, at which point the FL worked hard to protect the ML while also hiding her feelings from the ML / pushing away the feelings he was starting to develop for her again (in the case of the main examples, because she thought the ML or the world would be better off if they didn't get together).

Are there any romantic dramas with similar dynamics? Preferably with the ML falling for the FL first before losing his memories?

I also liked the dynamic in I'm Not a Robot, which didn't involve memory loss, where the ML met the FL on the train and she had to pretend she was a different person that didn't recognize him / have feelings for him in order to protect him. Dramas with that kind of dynamic would also be good.

Edit: Ideally I'm really looking for more recent dramas (last five years or so) with main characters that are likeable in the end / couples I would root for.

The only one I can think of right now is Fated to Love You... It does adds another element (the ML regains his memory and pretends he doesn't remember her because he thinks she's better off without him) but other than that I'd say it's quite close to what you're looking for

Save the Last Dance for Me is literally a whole drama after this trope. I don’t even think it’s a spoiler since it’s in the show description? He loses his memory then they meet & fall in love then he loses his memory again & they meet and fall in love all over again lol (it’s really cute don’t worry)

  • The prince who turns into a frog
  • Cain and Abel
  • Save the last dance for me

Interesting. For some reason I marked this as "not interested" a long time ago, but I can't remember why. Is the ML likeable?

Thank you for the recommendations. I rarely watch older dramas, but I'll check these out the next time I feel in the mood for something more classic.

I put this on my To Watch list when it started airing and never felt inspired to watch it after it finished, but this is a good reminder to give it a try. Thanks!

Well, it's a bit of a mix between very caring and a jerk... I think it depends on your taste in MLs though so I'd recommend watching the first two episodes to get an idea of his character ^^'

  • My Girlfriend is an Alien (Every time it rains, the Male Lead forgets who the females around him are, but still falls for the Female Lead each time. The ML falls first. I don't remember clearly, but I think the FL does brush him off / avoid him several times when the ML forgets.)
  • Ni Chang (I don't know if it's right to say they 'fell' for each other but they were very fond of each other before the ML loses his memories. He falls for her again the next time they meet by chance and she acts like she doesn't know him because of his status. My description will make more sense if you watch the first couple of eps ^^')

I think I might've mistaken the ML actor for Yoon Sang Hyun (I disliked him in other dramas) because of his haircut in this. I'll move it to my PTW list. Thank you ^^

My Girlfriend is an Alien

This has the funniest description I've read in ages. "rainy weather heterosexual amnesia" killed me (⌒▽⌒)The fact that it's recent and has a good rating are also promising. Thank you!

The plot description sounds so intense. Like the Princess Wei Young or Story of Yanxi Palace. But the trailer is so cutesy. I'm intrigued!

Love Like White Jade - main focus here is on comedy and romance with light drama and some martial arts. Sometimes it feels like a parody of historical dramas. When ML forgets everything, FL tries to make him remember her and all their happy moments.

So, by the title of your post alone, I immediately thought of    Devilish Joy,     . I don’t exactly remember if it is to protect the ML or what, but I’m pretty sure she does not tell him they were in love.

This is the only amnesia drama I have seen, plus it was one of my first kdramas in general, so maybe I’m remembering it too fondly haha, but I did enjoy it.

Added to my PTW list. Thank you for the rec ^^

Don't Forget Me  It's a movie though.

Happy to take movie recs, and this definitely seems to fit the criteria I set out. The trailer is interesting, although the implied secrets seemed almost sinister?

I second a Devilish Joy . ML is a jerk though and I didn't really like this drama because of him.

In later episodes of Trot Lovers  is simillar motive. But again ML isn't very likable.

Thank you, that's good to know. I prefer likeable MLs but I don't mind it if they start out as jerks as long as they really redeem themselves. But it sounds like that wasn't the case in those dramas?
