I want to watch dramas with either of the two scenarios:

  1. Female Lead comes back into the Male Lead's life again under a new identity. FL can either pretend not to know the ML or really not know the ML due to amnesia. The ML has to quickly recognise the FL within the first few eps, (bonus: but plays along with her). Ex: The Secret of Love
  2. Male Lead comes back into the Female Lead's life again under a new identity. ML pretends not to know the FL or acts even more protective/possessive of her. I want the FL to know his real identity later on instead of quickly. Ex. Hua Jai Sila even though the FL recognised him in the first meeting

I prefer Chinese dramas, but Thai, Taiwan, and Korean are also welcome!

Female Lead comes back into the Male Lead's life again under a new identity. FL can either pretend not to know the ML or really not know the ML due to amnesia. The ML has to quickly recognise the FL within the first few eps
  • Just Between Lovers  - Amnesia. Not a significant identity change. Mainly just older.
  • What's Wrong with Secretary Kim - Forgotten (there might have been some amnesia involved?). FL's identity hasn't changed except for her age and role. ML recognizes the FL when he first meets her again, but doesn't reveal that to the FL for a long time
  • I'm Not a Robot - Pretends (twice). FL's identity actually changes. The FL meets the ML first when he knows she's human. Second when he thinks she's a robot. Third, when he thinks she's the human the robot was modelled after. The FL pretends she hasn't met the ML before on both occasions. When he meets her the third time, he recognizes her instantly as looking exactly like the robot (second instance) and relatively soon after he finds out that they are one and the same.
  • The Legends - Pretends. FL's identity actually changes. She dies (sort of) for a bit. When she comes back, her soul is in the body of another woman. As the situation develops, she is visible during the day but looks like the other woman. At night, she is invisible. The ML recognizes characteristics of the FL when he first meets her and she looks like the other woman. The FL acts like she doesn't now the ML, but he realizes that she's actually the FL within a few episodes.

And:

  • She Was Pretty - Pretends. Her identity doesn't change but she does trick the ML in a way that involves her identity. The ML returns to Korea and asks to meet his childhood friend / crush (the FL). She sends her better-looking friend to go in her place. By coincidence, she ends up working on the team he directs. The ML does not recognize the FL because she purposefully tricked him. He doesn't connect well with the FL's friend (who continues to pretend to be the FL) and, despite his best efforts, the ML falls for the FL again despite the charade. You could say his heart recognized her even when his head "knew" she couldn't be his childhood crush

  • Meow, the Secret Boy - Pretends + protects. Actual different identity. FL doesn't find out he's a cat for quite a while. I can't remember if she finds out about their past connection at the same time she finds out he's a cat or if that was even later.
  • Kill Me, Heal Me - Acts more possessive. Actual different identity. FL doesn't find out their connection for a while.
  • I Hear Your Voice - Initially acts like he doesn't know her and acts even more protective. Not much of an identity change. He's a high school student instead of an elementary school student when they meet again. The ML recognizes the FL right away but doesn't reveal their connection immediately. When he does reveal it, the ML pretends his only motive for protecting the FL is a promise he made and hides his feelings.
  • I Need Romance 3 - Western name , older, new role. Pretends. The ML reveals his identity / their connection relatively quickly, but enough time passes for them to start dating and even kiss before he reveals his identity. At which point the FL immediately drops him.
  • Healer - Neither of them recognize each other from their first encounter, but the ML meets the FL under one fake identity and then another and the FL doesn't know that the second identity is the same person as the first. Although he doesn't recognize their childhood connection, the ML still quickly becomes very protective of the FL. They find out their connection late in the drama. The ML finds out first.
  • The Smile Has Left Your Eyes - Neither of them recognize each other, but the ML still quickly becomes possessive / protective of / fixated on the FL. The only change to his identity is that he's older, and maybe you could say his role is different. They find out their connection late in the drama. The ML finds out first.
  • Her Private Life - Western name, older, new role. Neither of them recognize each other, but the ML still quickly becomes protective of the FL. In addition to their real world reunion, the ML meets the FL online under a fake identity. He keeps up the fake identity for a fair while. The leads also don't discover their childhood connection for a long time.
  • Kimi Wa Petto - Older / different role. Pretends. The FL doesn't find out they had met before for a  long time.

I'll give I'm Not a Robot another go since I dropped that years ago :P

Omg The Legends, I actually just added that to my list when I saw you referenced the drama in your recent thread! I kept on dropping and restarting that drama because I really wanted to like it. I'll charge through ep 1 this time since it seems like The Legends has a lot of tropes that I like!

I'll put this on hold for now for when I don't have anything else to watch :3

I've never tried this before so I'll give this a go. Thankyou so much!! ^^

Lover or Stranger - cdrama from 2021, its completed. Its about a young violinist who wakes up from an accident and learns she has amnesia + a fiancé. Its quite an interesting cdrama that has all the aspects you look for.

    • Game Rai Game Rak - amnesia
    • I Have A Lover - amnesia
    • not really but...
      • Love Now - the ML doesn't really know FL, he just saw her somewhere and really fell for her. so when they finally meet, he recognizes her, while she doesn't
      • You Are my Hero - ML saved FL previously from a hostage taking incident, but due to his police attire/mask she didn't see her face. they meet again a few years after, she knows her while she has no clue about their connection in the past
  • scenario 2
    • Nirvana in Fire - but this is not much a romance drama
    • Green Rose
    • Mystery Pop  Up Bar

When does the ML recognise the FL? As in she's the girl he's looking for?

 lanzhanya:
Female Lead comes back into the Male Lead's life again under a new identity. FL can either pretend not to know the ML

The Fallen Leaf she changed gender/visual

I know it sounds soap opera but this drama was great, with tough badass FL, great acting from actress, eye candy ML and by the end this drama becomes soo strong-deep-phsycological-emotional that after finishing you are kind of high ))))
