Romance on the Farm is not a series, but a solid anecdote. It's hard to call it a drama, it's more like a drama and a comedy at the same time — a drama-comedy. :):):) The plot of the series moved me to tears. I cried the whole series... from laughter. :):):) Each character in this TV comedy is unique. It is impossible to describe it in words, you have to see it. I not only fell out of my chair laughing, but also rolled on the floor. :):):) Romance on the Farm was exactly the kind of fun relaxation I needed after watching the heavy The Legend of Hao Lan.
There is another title that suits this TV comedy: the village and the people. That's why I titled my review that way. The interesting thing is that this is not a simple series, but a series filmed in the form of games. This is the first time I have watched such a TV show. In addition, it is also a blue and yellow TV game series. There were so many yellow and blue colours in the series that my eyes barely had time to fix them. The dog in the show is named Yellow, and even the names of the NPCs are written in blue and yellow colours.
I am against computer games. They are absorbing and cause addiction, even if you play a simple farm. But I don't mind if they make such series in the form of games for the younger generation, like this one, to convey important life values to young people in this way. Our world can also be compared to a video game in which people are NPCs, and the creator and main moderator of the game is the Lord God.
I am the main character in this “game”. The song Paid My Dues by Anastacia suits me. Yes, I paid my dues. Now you won't stop me. I'm driving at a too high speed to slow down. God has unleashed His fiercest and sexiest warrior to tear His and her enemies to pieces. The chrysalis has become a butterfly. There is nothing left to hide.
Soon you, men, won't know where to go from thinking about me. In broad daylight, you will be looking for a fire extinguisher to put out the fire below your belly. And what did you think? You're lucky, freaks, that I'm a good genius. If I were an evil genius, I would have destroyed you all. I'll tear you to shreds anyway, but gently. :):):)
For those who are still hoping to sleep with me, I advise you to roll your lip back and stop dreaming. I have already said that I would rather be alone all my life than become someone's mistress. I'm not going to waste my cup of love, given to me by God, on all sorts of fools and perverts. I will give this cup to someone who will deserve it. No one will touch me with a finger until they marry me. I don't want to be a woman-tester. Look for free prostitutes elsewhere.
Some viewers on MyDramaList complain in their reviews of Romance on the Farm that there is little romance in the series, which does not correspond to the title of the series. Personally, I suppose that the title of this TV show means not only love romance, but also the romance of the farm itself and rural life. Then everything is logical.
But as for me, there was enough love romance in the series. Just remember how Shen Nuo has saved Man Er from the fire (I've always liked warrior men, even Legolas was a warrior, not a snot). And what about the rivalry between Shen Nuo and Wang You Heng for the main heroine? It turned out to be not a bad love triangle. They fought so hard for Man Er that the ground was burning under their feet. :):):) That's where the real romance is.
I saw so many signs in the series that I got the impression it was made especially for me, and it was not only God's idea, but also the creators of the series. Firstly, the main heroine is very similar to me. When she was a child, Man Er was as obedient and patient as I was. My mum also put up with everything all her life, just like the protagonist's mother.
Just like Man Er, I like to eat something tasty. I watched several times the scene where the waiter was listing to her all the specialities in the restaurant to read the names of all the dishes. I was even salivating. :):):) Not to mention the fact that I have such a strong character and great willpower as she does. And the list can go on. Man Er, like Yao Di Zhu in Song of Youth, also has refused to fight with a bunch of women for the emperor, which is in line with my opinion and beliefs.
Me and Man Er suit the songs Overprotected by Britney Spears and Born to be Wild by Alana D. I'll even give you a link to the last song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LqcEGUqYyGU. Pay attention to the avatar of the YouTube channel laughoutloud1996, and remember what I have written about Sun Jian in my previous review of The Legend of Hao Lan. God thinks the same way I do. :):):)
Sun Jian's natal chart says that he belongs to the lovers of quick sex. What kind of quick sex is that? Five minutes and that's all?! :):):) Sun Jian is called a fashionista, but I don't agree with such a statement, because if those “potato sacks” he wears are fashion, then I am the Queen of Spain. :) I look at Sun Jian and realise that Feng Shao Feng has performed him in The Legend of Zhuo Hua. :):):)
There are a lot of references to God and the things that are connected with Him in this show. The first episode mentions four eggs, four slices of pork, and three years. The third episode mentions four kilometres. In the series, the owner of the Fuchun Restaurant, Zhang Ping'an, had three sons and three daughters. The drama also features characters named Three and Four. These are all allusions to the Holy Trinity and the four Gospels written by the four apostles. The series repeats the numbers “3” and “4” without end.
The three brothers of Man Er's mother reminded me of the Holy Trinity too. In many cases, it is customary for the Chinese to bow three times. This is also a hint of the Holy Trinity, but the Chinese don't understand it, because they don't read the Bible and haven't yet come to know the true God. But God is still always with them.
In the eighth episode of the show, there is a reference to thirty acres of land, in the tenth episode — to thirty taels, and in the fifteenth episode — to the number “30”. These are allusions to the thirty pieces of silver for which Judas has betrayed Jesus Christ. The ninth episode refers to thirty-three acres of land and twelve tables. This means Christ's age of thirty-three years and His twelve apostles. In the eighteenth episode, the head of the bandits, Master Yu, mentioned the Heavenly King. This is not a hint, but a direct reference to the Lord Jesus Christ.
Don't you think it's strange that the series' song called You, Me has been sung separately by three different singers? And pay attention to the lyrics of this song. I liked the way Song Yu Ning sang it the most. In addition, listen attentively to the lyrics of the series' song Juvenile Returns by Shige Qintian. This song is about me.
In one of the scenes in the drama, Shen Nuo told Man Er that he would pay his debt back to her three times over. And now remember what I have written in my previous review about the bride price. I am waiting for my money. :):):)
There are also Christian phrases in this drama. For example, in the fourteenth episode, Shou Ren noted that a husband and wife should be as one whole, and his wife said that spouses should be together in happiness and sorrow, and grow old together (at least something intelligent they said in the series :):):). In the sixth episode, God took the child to Himself so that he would not fall into the hands of bad people. That is why children often die. There are strong reasons for this.
In the opening credits of the series, I saw a lot of interesting things: the sun, the moon, butterflies, a phoenix, etc. In this TV show, there is a family with the surname Sun, which means “the sun”. The opening credits also show that the main heroine is fighting a dragon (and she has an assistant — the unidentified character :). I severed all connections with that dragon a long time ago, but that scarecrow still wouldn't calm down.
In 2022, in order to hurt me, that pathetic little dragon posted videos on Weibo about how happy he was with his girlfriend, and I watched those videos and laughed. That his girlfriend is a plucked, bony slob who dresses like a hobo, and I am a goddess, beautiful as a lioness, with a mop of long hair the colour of wheat, a seductive glance with a twinkle in the eyes and curvaceous forms, who dresses better than Coco Chanel.
I liked the videos posted on Weibo by other users, in which that scarecrow, drunk as a pig, was carried by his friends on their backs as baggage to his house. :):):) When I realised who he really was, I saw him for what he was: vulgar, dirty and disgusting. He is similar to Gríma, who has been hanging around Éowyn. In the fourteenth episode of the series, Man Er remembers March 3. As I have already written in my review of Jun Jiu Ling, March 3 is the worst day of the year. It would be better if it didn't exist at all, so that scarecrow wouldn't be born and spoil everything around him.
At the end of 2022, that scarecrow under the nickname “deepblue99” wrote me some comments on my post on the Luoyang (Feng Qi Luo Yang) drama page on MyDramaList to gain my trust. And then in the comments to it, he started praising the acting of his mistress Zhang Li, who performed the casino's owner in that drama, so that I would praise her too. You can check it out for yourselves. That jerk didn't even realise that I saw through him. I didn't write anything on his comment about Zhang Li, but one naive user under the nickname “JeA” fell for his trick. That scarecrow thought he was playing with me like a cat with a mouse, but in fact I was playing with him like a big pussycat with a small, stinky mouse, ha-ha-ha... :):):)
What was between me and that scarecrow could be described in the words of such Anastacia's songs as One Day In Your Life, Sick and Tired and I'm Outta Love. There are so many signs from God in the official videos for these songs. Anyone who is in the know will notice and understand them. But don't worry if you won't understand them, because, first of all, they are meant for me. In each of my reviews, I tell you about the signs in dramas and in real life that God sends me, but to really understand the importance of God's signs, I recommend you watch the 2002 sci-fi film Signs, directed by M. Night Shyamalan, starring Mel Gibson and Joaquin Phoenix (note the surname of Joaquin). The same thing happened to me as to Mel Gibson's character in that film: I almost lost my faith in God, but the Lord restored it and my faith became even greater than it was before. I have already written to you that everything I have heard, seen, read and watched in my life has been for a reason. Now I am showing it to you so that you can see it too.
In the seventh episode of Romance on the Farm, Shen Nuo mentioned the King of the Zhao State and the Battle of Changping. The Battle of Changping is featured in the drama The Legend of Hao Lan, which I have watched before Romance on the Farm, and the King of the Zhao State is one of the characters there. Accidents like this don't exist. And the joke about the clown in the second episode of the series is probably a reference to the King of Zhao and Zelenskyy. :):):) I appreciated the joke.
However, this joke contains a hint not only of the two aforementioned characters, but also of that scarecrow. No other Chinese actor can lie and pretend like him. It's him who is the main clown. Hua Er is very similar to him. All that scarecrow and his minions can do is bark in my direction. But, as the well-known proverb says, the dog barks, but the caravan marches on. :):):)
By the way, the character in the series Shou Xin is the same burdock, complete sucker and complex shit on the stick as that scarecrow. How does the earth bear such jerks? Somehow it carries them on its back, but only for a while. One day the ground will open up under their feet and all such idiots will be thrown into hell. That's what they deserve. As Christ has said, a tree that doesn't bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.
In the sixth episode of the drama, the head of the Lian family told his youngest son to be tolerant. But I consider that you don't have to be tolerant when it comes to the interests and safety of you and your family, as well as in all other matters, especially in your views. Do you know what the word “tolerance” means in medicine, particularly in pharmacology? A decrease in the body's response to a medicine as a result of repeated use, i.e., in simple terms, the body's inability to fight the disease. Draw conclusions about whether it is worth being tolerant.
In the seventh episode, green jade was mentioned. I have a necklace and bracelet made of green jade (a real solid jade bracelet, not the fakes shown in the series). As a real woman, I love beautiful jewellery, the more the better. :):):) In the latest episodes of the show, Hua Er wears fluffy beige headphones. I have similar headphones in the same colour. Once again, the series mentioned stewed pork knuckles and meatballs. I hate them. :):):)
In the eighth episode of the drama, the falling leaves are beautifully shown. When I watched that episode, we also had a lot of leaves falling on the streets in Ukraine, especially on my favourite lake. Speaking of the farm and the falling leaves, we have flowers in Ukraine that are the colour of the PRC flag. They are called marigolds. They can also be bright yellow or orange, but in Ukraine, mostly red and yellow marigolds grow. In the tenth episode, Aunt He asks herself in wonder if the sun rises in the west. I have heard this phrase in many Chinese dramas. Why is Aunt He surprised? I have written a long time ago that the sun rises in the West, where I live. :) In the wild, wild West. :):):)
In the series, the place where the bandits were concentrated was called the Black Tiger Fortress. The head of those bandits was a woman. Now remember what I have written about a black tigress in my review of Twisted Fate of Love. And it would have been strange if I hadn't seen lion statues in a Chinese drama. Of course I have seen them here. When I just started watching Romance on the Farm, in a Ukrainian advert on the Internet I saw a lion in sunglasses driving a red Ferrari, and on the advert it said “Король доріг” (the king of the roads) :):):).
When I go to the lake for a walk, I often see a black and white stray cat on the way, which has such interesting colouring on its muzzle that it looks like it has a black moustache on its white face. I called him d'Artagnan. :):):) God never stops joking, and I never stop laughing. I'm looking forward to the continuation of the “show”. What an interesting life I still have. :):):)
Among the photos for this TV comedy on MyDramaList there are photos in which almost every actor and actress of this series is standing with a bouquet of flowers, which includes sunflowers. Well, at least on the page of this TV show on this site, they haven't deleted such photos. The page of the drama Be Your Own Light on this website also has photos of the actors of that drama with bouquets of flowers containing sunflowers. I've seen similar photos on the pages of many other Chinese series on MyDramaList. As I understand it, the Chinese are very fond of sunflowers. We, Ukrainians, also love sunflowers. They are a symbol of our country.
In Romance on the Farm, it was truthfully shown how poorly the Chinese lived in villages in ancient times and how they starved. The Chinese ancestors starved because they had nothing to eat. And today's Chinese starve on purpose to be thin. What a shame! I don't understand this at all. The Chinese ancestors are turning over in their graves. But I really liked Man Er's younger brother. He is such a donut! :) I also wanted to pinch his cheeks. It's obvious that this child eats well. :):):)
The series shows a traditional Chinese family and realistically depicts the relationships between relatives in it. I won't comment this in order not to spoil too much. I think that everyone who will watch this TV show will draw the right conclusions from it. What saddens me is that this kind of consumerism in Chinese families still exists today. But Man Er is a great girl. She is a real warrior. She made them all “dance the hopak”. :):):)
As for me personally, I will be honest: I am not going to live with my future mother-in-law in the same house. Either me or her. There will be only one mistress in my house — me. No one will boss me around. My maternal grandfather (yes, that's the one who turned his party membership card into confetti :) said that the old should not live with the young. I share the same opinion.
What I really like about Romance on the Farm is that the main roles in this TV comedy are acted not by talentless “idols” with sweet faces, but by real actors. I finally saw a real young generation of Chinese actors. I will certainly watch another drama starring Joseph Zeng and Tian Xi Wei if I can find it. I have liked this couple, as well as their on-screen couple of Shen Nuo and Lian Man Er. This on-screen couple suits the song Cant Fight The Moonlight by LeAnn Rimes. I think that Man Er and Shen Nuo have the same relationship as sung in this song, as well as the relationship between their prototypes in real life. :):):) And personally to Shen Nuo, I dedicate a music track from the South Korean drama My Country: The New Age called Sword of the Stranger.
I was glad to see Ron Weasley Chang Long, aka Mr. “Thirteen”, in the series. His character here is so housewifely, you can immediately see that the man's hands grow out not from his ass. :):):) That “golden trio” came up with such an impressive scheme to sell peanuts that I gave them a standing ovation. You can make a separate drama about it. :):):) It is because the Chinese are very superstitious that they are easily deceived. Our black cat and the empty bucket are nothing compared to their superstitions. Have you ever wondered why the Chinese eat noodles not by biting them, but by sucking them up like a vacuum cleaner sucks up rubbish? Ask around. According to this superstition, I could have already died a hundred times. :):):)
The real noise in the drama began when the relatives of Man Er's mother arrived. There was so much screaming that the whole village heard. The battle was fiercer than a boxing fight between Usyk and Fury. :):):) But when I saw Qu Gao Wei in the image of Wu Zhong Lian, I almost fell into the sediment. I had various guesses about whom he could act in the series, but I did not expect SUCH THING (!). He knows how to surprise. :):):) Yes, yes, our “uncle” has already “grown up” to such roles. :)
I thought that the episodes of the series before he appeared were funny and exciting, but after he appeared in it, I realised that those episodes were just a rehearsal. :):):) I almost lost my voice from laughing. It was 10 out of 10. No wonder Wu Zhong Lian mentioned Si Ma Zhao. He is similar to him. It has been interesting for me to watch Qu Gao Wei in this TV show. I have never seen him in such a role before. But Gao Wei's kind face still gives him away. Just look at that cute puppy with the moustache. :):):)
In the comedy Romance on the Farm, it turned out to be such a good “girls night out”. The director of the drama is a woman, the scriptwriter is a woman, the protagonist is also a woman, or rather a girl. I would like to give the scriptwriter a special respect. It's rare to see a professionally written script in a film or TV series. I also thank Tian Xi Wei for portraying me well, and Hong Ling for the series itself. To this wonderful “girls night out” I dedicate the song Man! I Feel Like A Woman by Shania Twain. In the video to this song, the men really behave like NPCs. :):):)
So, I will make my own calculation of the series' income and expenses. Expenses — 0. Income: story — 10, acting/cast — 10, music — 10, rewatch value — 10, overall — 10. The drumbeat, and Man Er ran to collect coins in the box again. :):):)
In the end, I would like to advise you to listen to one more song: Wild Wild West by Will Smith ft. Dru Hill, Kool Mo Dee (the soundtrack to the movie of the same name). Will Smith in the official video for this song, as well as the dudes who sing with him, remind me of these gangsters: https://image.bz1111.com/201711/04/11-31-59-30-10.jpg. You should definitely recognise one of them (although I didn't recognise him once :):):) Yes, it wouldn't be me if I didn't “hook” one of my favourite Chinese male actors who acted in Romance on the Farm. :) I have only one question: when has he managed to slap on tattoos on himself? :):):) And “Loveless” was left behind the scenes. :):):) And rightly so, f#ck him.
A few more gorgeous shots: https://image.bz1111.com/201711/04/11-32-13-99-10.jpg, https://image.bz1111.com/201711/04/11-31-33-35-10.jpg, https://image.bz1111.com/201711/04/11-31-34-20-10.jpg. Well, and where are the spines? Liu Chen from The Legend of Zhuo Hua is a liar. As I understand it, this is “the king of the roads”: https://image.bz1111.com/201711/04/11-32-10-86-10.jpg. I definitely want to see this film. :):):)
