Tokusatsu shows I've finished watching ranked
-
1. Kamen Rider Ryuki
Japanese Drama - 2002, 50 episodes
Literally peak... Beautiful ending and awesome cast of characters. I also really liked the music in this show. Cried a river too

2. Kamen Rider Kuuga
Japanese Drama - 2000, 49 episodes
REALLY slow paced show but has a phenomenal secondary cast. I love everyone's relationship with one another and couldn't help but want more slice of life moments. I LOVE Ichijo and Godai's relationship. Everytime they had moments where they didn't have to worry about fighting was so refreshing.
Great OP and ED and the cinematography was also pretty cool. I like the experimental-likeness of the Grongi scenes. OST in general was pretty nice.
ALSO PEAK. FINAL FIGHT. LITERALLY SO GOOD
Only thing I'd complain about this show is that sometimes I would dread an upcoming fight or police scenes cuz of how uninteresting they can sometimes be. But that's just me.

SUPER FUN show and also the first Toku + Kamen Rider show I finished. I loved the cast and Kuroto is a CRAZY AWESOME villain.

4. Kikai Sentai Zenkaiger
Japanese Drama - 2021, 49 episodes
Pretty fun and loved the main cast, had a handful really funny moments and silly world concepts too and all around is a really cute and heartwarming! My favorites were Kaito, Hakaizer, and Zyuran

5. Avataro Sentai Donbrothers
Japanese Drama - 2022, 50 episodes
Was a blast up until the 30s. I sound evil for saying this but the character writing quality went down the pooper after the events of episode 29 get settled and the Oden stuff happens for the first time. Idk, I just didn't like how characters like Haruka got dumbed down to MUH MANGA! or Kijino just became the insane MUH WIFE guy or Inuzuka just became MUH GIRLFRIEND guy. I still really like the Cerebrans at least. Also it felt like they had no idea what they wanted to do with Jirou and there were times where he'd just show up for 10 seconds on screen and then disappear randomly for a handful of episodes. I dunno... Still fun as a concept but just not as satisfying to watch during a lot of later points
Favorite characters: Haruka, Sonoza, Sonoi, and Jirou -
6. Uchuu Sentai Kyuranger
Japanese Drama - 2017, 48 episodes
I liked the colorful cast but uh... It was REALLY hard to get involved with all the characters. I feel like the biggest flaw with this show is how there's too many characters and not enough time to flesh them out. There were some really good episodes but also just a ton of mundane episodes. Like the show was just kind of lackluster? I can't find the right words help. Anyways not a boring show but also would never watch again. It was a decent watch!
Awesome suit designs, and really nice ending song. -
7. Kamen Rider Build
Japanese Drama - 2017, 49 episodes
Erm they really fumbled the bag and fell off during the 20s. I was really invested in this show towards the beginning and then all the stupid plot twists and lack of character development really ruined it for me.
I really don't see what people like so much about this show. The Chainsawman Level pacing isn't even fun when there's so many things getting thrown into your face. There are so many things they couldve done to make this show better... and it really makes me sad. I really wanted to like Misora but it feels like they just didn't know what to do with her character at a certain point. The whole Evolt storyline was absolutely atrocious and I'm still a little salty about it honestly :(
