Shows/Movies Touching on Dark Themes (Recommendations)
*Just a note.. my ratings are quite high because I rate them with literally everything about the show in mind (e.g. plot, acting, characters, writing, audio, sfx, pacing etc).
As such, my ratings are as follows: -7-7.5: Good enough, but overall, not great. // 8: Good // 9: Pretty darn good, memorable. // 9.5: Really enjoyable, however, something is stopping me from giving it a 10. // 10: Memorable, really good, I definitely recommend.

1. Imawa no Kuni no Alice
Japanese Drama - 2020, 8 episodes
Pacing and writing are pretty commendable for an 8 episode long drama. Characters are not only diverse, but are realistic in the environment they are put in. I really enjoyed this one, I recommend!

2. Sweet Home
Korean Drama - 2020, 10 episodes
Another drama that has some really good pacing, especially for a somewhat "shorter" drama (especially for a Kdrama, they're usually about 16 episodes, while this one is 10 episodes).
Season 2 may be on it's way!

3. Strangers from Hell
Korean Drama - 2019, 10 episodes
Since I watched this, I've been on a life-long crusade for a show that's a lot like it - however, to no current avail. This one is more of a realistic slow-burn, as you watch the protagonist fall into madness. It also has some incredible twists, and unique characters not usually touched on in popular media.

4. Save Me
Korean Drama - 2017, 16 episodes
A cult classic. Quite literally.
Another "somewhat" of a slow-burn, with some incredible writing and well thought out situational development. Very good!

5. Beyond Evil
Korean Drama - 2021, 16 episodes
This series is quite literally the definition of plot twists.
The writing is so incredible - what they show you may not be the truth, and the plot thickens as each episode runs on. Let's be honest, the characters are the main stars here.

6. Extracurricular
Korean Drama - 2020, 10 episodes
Suspense. This series plays around with this word, as if it's food. The screen writing lets us follow the protagonists as they work their way around, and as the situation becomes more and more dire, we the audience begin to create an intense attachment to them and their wellbeing.
It'll make you rethink crime as a whole. Trust me.
