oh dal-ja. grumpy, great, generous. competent at her job, disaster at her love life. just kinda awesome all around.

hwang si-mok. smart, logical, blunt.  emotionless yet reacts with his entire face so he’s always interesting to watch. delightfully thwarts any attempt seo dong-jae tries to make nice, which becomes a fantastic double act in s2. deserves to eat more and should stop being interrupted during his meals.

na ae-ra. petty, vindictive, just wants to be appreciated. enacts revenge on her ex, who dishes back with glee.

choi ban-do. pettiness king, unfailingly kind, if condescending. i loved very much how he tried a new start with the past, helps his family get richer, even if everyone thought him ridiculous. i liked that he had the confidence he couldn’t display before, and helped inspire his first love towards the goal he knew she wanted in the future, and does eventually very clearly miss his son.

baek seung-soo. calculating, harsh, fair. makes life difficult for people because he uproots and improves the system, much to frustration of those who profited by initially taking advantage of it. seemingly detached, yet surprisingly gentle with people, nudging them to be better people, and letting them redeem themselves after their mistakes. that being said, totally knows how to deal with people behaving terribly in a professional manner.

lee se-young. amazing, loyal, reliable. extremely competent at her job. i loved her being unafraid to call baek seung-so out, and their eventual friendship is great because of it.

jang do-han. driven, deceitful, despairing. honestly, mad props to the guy for turning himself into a weapon and ruining other people’s lives in order to utilise them and get his revenge on the person who truly destroyed his family. loved that he tried to quash what little remained of his original kind self, and how he donned artifice and insincerity so radiantly.

jang man-hol. jaded, fancy, stylish. a little bit terrible and selfish, but also quietly kind. mostly just liked the way she adored money, knew she shouldn’t spend it, and spent it anyway.

lee hyeok. deceitful, dangerous, deadly. he had such a warped childhood and horrible upbringing that the fact the actor was able to give him a genuinely sympathetic vulnerability despite not really regretting his past behaviour, was really impressive. also fantastic comedic chops. he was so convincingly simultaneously goofy and monstrous. truly, a disaster of a human being.

oh sunny was great because she starts off naive and idealistic but grows strong and tenacious, becomes resourceful and decides rightfully that the corrupt imperial family should end and expose the secrets that had been hidden away for so long.

woo bo young. empathetic, hardworking, bubbly. a really nice depiction of  relatable protagonist, but feels flawed and believable with her ups and downs. i liked her open heart and desire to reach out to people by her poetry, and the fact she weeps easily when she feels moved by something, and other people consider it a strength, not a weakness.

ye jae wook. human advice machine. cannot resist offering advice, even when it’s unwanted. will even give advice to himself, and tries to work on his flaws.

son oh-gong. sly, vindictive, wicked. honestly a fantastic depiction of sun wukong, all impishness and trickery, yet effortlessly stealing your heart with that crooked grin of his.

seo yi do. egomaniac, fragile, ridiculous. hands down the weirdest protagonist i’ve ever seen, he’s incredibly dramatic, but also strangely innocent when it comes to affairs of the heart. and i love every moment of this romcom hero being a complete nightmare but an extremely talented fashionista.

lee yeon seo. defiant, determined, devastating. if anyone tells her she can’t do something, she will fight tooth and nail to prove them wrong and not only can do it but will do it well. fights god just because she hates him taking her happiness away from her and will do anything to get angel kim dan back.

oh yoon seo. passionate, personal, princess. i liked her determination and desire to improve herself for her acting career, her silly daydreams and mental fortitude. i liked that she never went too far with overstepping boundaries, and remained sweet even when her career hit rock bottom.

kwon jung rok. sweetheart who isn’t nearly as cold as he first appears, quick to take notice of her hard work and appreciate her for who she is. honestly i adore him for his supportiveness and understanding, for not getting mad when her secret is revealed, but still honest about his emotions.

lee yeon. sweet, silly, scary. i loved his duality of being childish and being addicted to mint chocolate ice cream, and being badass and sneakily gaining the upper hand. i loved his quips and hand gestures, how he wielded an umbrella-turned-sword, and how pretty he looked in the past with long red-white hair.

do bong soon. dainty, daydreamer, dynamic. complete powerhouse and studious. gets to fight crime and design her perfect videogame and be bodyguard to the cutest man in the world.

kang joo eun. confident, classy, capable. her bubbliness and determination to become healthy were fabulous, as was her resilience to maintain the new diet after losing the weight. her open appreciation of kim young ho’s physique. she knows what she wants, and goes for it.  

kim sam soon. feisty, frustrating, flawed. i enjoyed her no-nonsense attitude and her quick to spark temper, which hyun jin hun could match her in equal footings. she charges into stuff boldly, and take no prisoners, and it was great seeing her achieve her dreams and come to terms with liking her actual name.

nam shin iii. cute, kind, adorable. best android with the sweetest smile. befriends roombas and talks to it often. is forever a darling who only wants the best.

cho gang hwa. squirrelly, mourning, reserved. king of expressions. very much still in love with his deceased wife, scared to fully commit to his current wife, whom he does love, but hasn’t recovered from yu-ri’s death. wonderful sense of humour despite his very real sadness. adorable despite himself and eating his daughter’s painted eggs.

kim sung ryong. wacky, erratic, annoying. i adored his petty shenanigans and accidental mishaps as he changed from conman to a good person and earned the love of his team. bizarre but very fun to watch.

kim boong-do. quiet, resourceful, clever. even when he’s on the brink of death, he wants to go to a library. a capable fighter and figures out that he time travelled and adapts to it at a believable pace. drops the smoothest lines and has the most charmed secret smile.

nogami ryotaro. unlucky, principled, frail. i absolutely adore this waifish pushover gradually gain confidence over his life and friend, travelling through time on a train.

hino eiji. smart, oblivious, empty. honestly, i loved him from the start, how he plays the fool but isn’t one to be manipulated; i loved his desire to help others even if it had hollowed him inside, roaming endlessly. his optimism and care, and gradual descent into becoming a greeed. his completely odd choice of clothes, and vagabond nature.

kido shinji. sweet, kind, darling. wanted nothing more than to protect people and be a journalist. definitely naive, but that added to his charm. he wanted to believe in others and for the riders to get along. it didn’t work, but it’s certain that without shinji, things would have been incredibly difficult, the reset never happening. also punches kanzaki shirou in the face, which he definitely had coming.

kisaragi gentarou. energetic, helpful, friendly. i really liked his goal of befriending everyone and largely succeeds with it and his fantastic handshake. perfect in every way.

inui takumi. grumpy, sarcastic, awkward. protector of dreams, and broke as hell. has a heat-sensitive tongue and definitely does not communicate as openly as he should, creating misunderstandings due to his loner nature. but he tries his best, even when he’s shoved into unfortunate situations, and i can’t help but love his moody nature.

arisu ryohei. kind, smart, calculating. utilises his gamer brain to solve situations, thinking quickly on the spot, and sincerely encourages teamwork among strangers for maximum survival rate. succumbs to depression, but it’s hard to blame him after what he’s endured. 

captain marvellous. wonderful, dashing, daring. pirate captain of a lovable crew, and oh so fun to watch.

suzuki right. silly, gluttonous, delightful. sparkling ray of sunshine that inspires hope and love everywhere he goes. 

sakurada hiromu. blunt, awkward, stoic. afraid of chickens. works on his character flaws and becomes a more emotive person, works to overcome his phobia as well. knows not to trust a directionless nick, but sometimes cannot help it.

asaka keiichiro. serious, kind, earnest. hot blooded policemen who wants to help people more than anything. slow in realising the lupinrangers aren’t as bad as he initially thought. constantly trying to reach out to kairi and befriend him. utterly adorable because he gets caught up in things, even if it backfires.

jinnai kyosuke. ditzy, lazy, simple. love this idiot who would rather drive his boss’ car than be a super sentai. somehow romances the villainess without realising it, then decides to be friends first. cares very much about traffic safety.

kando jan. wild, sweet, cute. speaks in sound effects to describe his feelings. raised by tigers, introduced by biting a panda’s nose. how can i not adore him?

akashi satoru. adventurous, cheesy, dense. does not know who he is without adventure. inspires others without really trying. seriously loves adventure. and his teammates. but mostly adventure. gets called chief by his team.

kurenai wataru. meek, shy, gentle. the best kid, who struggled with his identity and self-esteem issues and becomes a confident and driven person. took a lot of baths when moping. his best friend is a bat.

ozu kai. impulsive, fiery, adorable. youngest of the siblings, but leader all the same. keeps making his two person love triangle worse than it needs to be. loves his family dearly, but loses his temper at them easily. he may be an idiot, but he’s their idiot.

tendou souji. egomaniac, dramatic, bonkers. literal sun, chosen by the light. god, certainly. beloved brother. fantastic chef. speaks abstractly in relation to questions. quotes his grandmother incessantly. walks the path of the heavens. does not know how to act like a normal person. will never act like a normal person. always better than anyone else, breaking logic to come out on top.

shishi kakeru. veterinarian, compassionate, friendly. can talk to animals. very stupid but incredibly lovely. loves his friends dearly. loves telling people that he is a veterinarian, because you know, he is a veterinarian, which is the solution to most of his problems.

shim deok chul. seventy year old man, dreams of becoming ballerina, succeeds. I am truly touched by his resilience and optimism, his hardworking determination, and occasional bouts of impatience. an inspiration to all, ngl.

souma haruto. quiet, self-depreciative, snarky. truly loved this donut obsessed boy, who hid his depression and persevere in becoming everyone’s hope and not succumbing to despair.

asami tatsuya. sweetheart, defiant, cutie. rich kid who becomes broke, loves his future cop family, admits his love at the last possible moment. decides his own fate and the future he makes. sunshine kid who deserves nothing but the best but unfortunately has his heart broken by the end. has the best smile in the world.

kang min ho. amnesiac, petty, resourceful. adore this zombie who never gives up on his humanity even when he hates humans, and helps them out for money.

kim yeong soo. devoted, petty, sweet. did his best to be good and worked hard, but finds out that getting the answers won’t please everybody. loved his vanity, his habit of throwing his former self under the bus, and how deeply he treasured his family.

han gi tak. gangster, chef, kind. his endless optimism in search for his murderer, and make life better feel those he cared dearly for was wonderful, as was his constant forgetting that his new body was incredibly different to his original one.

hibiki. darling, steady, embarrassing. love this dad who is reliable and calm and inspiring to everyone. tries to be much cooler than he really is, but i love him anyway. his goofiness is inescapable.

oh in beom. cute, crafty, conman. tries to make himself the most heartless of men, yet in reality, has a soft heart and cares loudly about people. if he’s worried, he’ll look after them in the most annoying way, and is so charming about it that you can’t complain about him being a pest.

hong ji ah. goth, grouchy, glutton. only wears black, tries to be indifferent to people, but eventually openly cares about her friends even if she’s not very good with words. kickass and competent, she’ll stop at nothing to complete her exorcism.

kang ma-ru. smart, spiteful, seductive. so much love in my heart for the scorned lover who is fuelled by revenge, only to catch real feelings for someone who was meant only to be a hurdle. his guilt moved him, but it wasn’t enough to deter him from his plans, and despite hating intensely, he loved intensely, and his determination to see things through broke my heart.

esumi sousuke. hothead, passionate, determined. loyal to his team. an inspiration to stupidity and luck. he might not think things through, but neither does his friends. upcoming speed king that wants to be the best racer, and promises to do anything and everything at mach speed.

kenzaki kazuma. trusting, kind, affectionate. beats the system with devastating consequences,but always wore his heart on his sleeve. silly but lovely.

ki seung-nyang. vengeful, cold, calculating. once a warrior, then a maid, court lady, concubine, empress. sacrifices endlessly, and helps the greater good with fairness and common sense. herjourney of how she comes to power is incredible. and how she outwits and thwarts her enemies is nothing short of rewarding.

ta hwan. silly, paranoid, underestimated. once a spoiled brat who daydreamed idly, then a besotted fool in love, then a hallucinating alcoholic. he tried hard not to be a pawn for other people, never realising that the greatest puppeteer was beside him the whole time until it was far too late. and yet, he acted to protect seung-nyang as best he could.

jung tae-sung/oh seung-ha. unyielding, unforgiving, unraveling. consumed by the thought of revenge and constructs an elaborate play to let it all unfold, he didn’t count on falling in love, he didn’t expect to feel weighed down by the consequences. forever stuck in that tunnel, despite people seeing how lonely he is, he cannot stop himself from continuing his revenge.

seo haein. cheerful, bright, supportive. psychometric librarian who helps solve crime just a little too late, but does her best anyway.

go shiro. loyal, idealistic, charming. mostly a friend of the birds, but also speaks to cats and dogs. occasionally sets his sword on fire to defeat his enemies.

eun dan-oh. feisty, determined, resourceful. from figuring out that she’s a webtoon character, to plotting for her character to get a better fate, it’s so cool to see her change things behind the scenes, seeing  what works and what doesn’t. how she genuinely gets attached to ha-ru is very sweet as well.

choi ung. stupid, petty, lazy. i love this drifting insomniac who is a secret celebrity artist who hates the spotlight, only to emerge back into the world because of his youth. he doesn’t mind hurting himself if it means hurting his intended target, and his short sightedness always is his undoing, but if it means ticking off his ex, why not? despite his low self esteem, his consideration for others is admirable. 

cha joo hyuk. terrible, kind, gamer. does not realise that he’s the problem, but charming despite that.  travels through time to ditch his wife for his first love, only to find out that they’re not nearly as suited for each other as he first thought, at the same time as falling in love with his original wife and figuring out that maybe he is at fault after all, and tries to over correct in the next timeline.

seo woo jin. prankster, bubbly, fiery. dreams of her past life, tries to figure out her connection with joo hyuk, and travels through time herself. always in good humour, following her heart and being true to herself, her friends and her mother.

gu eun-jae. passionate, kind, cold. transforms from passive doormat to vengeful wraith, taking on a new identity to punish those who wronged her. makes her husband that she marries twice be homeless. overcomes her fears after drowning. constantly recreating herself in order to achieve new goals. dons a mole to signify her revenge and hide her true self. finally, gets her happy ending, the life she deserved from the start.

hong du-sik. helpful, kind, sweetheart. jack-of-all-trades that worries about and is worried for in return by the busybody town of gongjin. has the brightest smile but bears his own pain quietly. terrified of being abandoned and holds guilt deep in her heart.

yoon hye-jin. fashionista, prickly, righteous. city girl who moves to the country in a moment of impulsiveness, takes her time to fit in and be equally beloved. finds her own pace eventually and is not as cold as first assumed. especially loves her shoes.

ri eul. dreamer, captivating, lonely. mischievous magical with an innocent heart and whose best friend is a parrot, he recognises himself in others and does his best to help them out. he makes people believe in magic again. a real magician.

koo ryeon. gruff, gentle, great. her quiet suffering and devotion to park joong gil makes me cry,because she said nothing for years, for nothing would have changed, even though her feelings remained. i loved the way she looked out for her team, even if her kindness doesn’t always work out as planned.

choi joon-woong. cute, ditz, earnest. always hardworking but perpetually unlucky. wore his heart on his sleeve and worries about his family. 

vincenzo cassano. vindictive, resourceful, crafty. man from the mafia, who lives by the mafia code, who tells everyone he’s from the mafia yet has the gall to act surprised when someone tells him  they know he’s from the mafia. he’s great. knows he’s a bad person, but gets adopted by the community anyway, and becomes their hero. 

cha cha-woong. cold, vain, dramatic. he won my heart with how secretly soft he was, despite his standoffish demeanour to keep others from getting too close to him. he was a real dweeb who used his ghost employees to look badass but mostly just looked very cute being a magician who only cared about money and being the best.

go seul-hae. bubbly, boisterous, enthusiastic. her kindness and hot temper were a cute mix, as she strived for justice, and desire to (eventually) believe, befriend and see ghosts. also very cute is her original crush.

kim hui wu. bold, unforgiving, arrogant. driven by justice, and love for his friends and family, i adored his patience and penchant for playing 4D chess, which ultimately pays off. extremely cute with how much he cared for his parents and brought all his friends to their restaurant time and time again.

godai yusuke. kind, warm, reassuring. always doing his best to bring a smile on everyone’s face,always deciding to never give up his gentleness and never to fight in anger. with the help of his friends, he figures out a way to save the day. has 2000 skills, and it’s never ending. a constant adventurer.

ban ha-ni. sweet, creative, inspiring. she does let her mistakes hang over her, but her determination and ability to forgive herself is incredible, as she makes effort to work hard and learn how to be happy again.

han yu-hyun. dramatic, resourceful, cute. a sunshine with a petty side, i love his melodramatic arguments with his father, but also how soft he is, because the love is there, even if both of them struggle with saying the words because of their pride.

orchid. sweet, naive, determined. i loved her growth of becoming powerful and fighting for her love, once her heart was set. she stayed true to herself throughout, despite the loneliness and hurt it caused her.

dongfang qing-cang. spiteful, careful, judging. truly a devil, but it was so cute to see him change from heartless to caring, and accepting care from other people, and how he didn’t get it right away, but that didn’t stop him from trying again and again.

ma shang. flirty and carefree, it didn’t stop him from having a deductive mind and being serious when need be. extremely competent at his job, it was great seeing him be a dutiful son and also hopelessly in love with such charm.

kim sung yeol. sage, cunning, lonely. he tries so hard to be unmoved by his heart and stick to his goals, but every so often, he stumbles. his patience is infinite because he must defeat his enemy, but oh, his journey is a tormented one, as he must confront his vampire within.

jo yang sun. sweet, sunny, savvy. she’s never going to leave no matter how many try to spirit her away. loyal to a fault.  

hong gi-tae. standoffish, devious, ridiculous. he just wants to be alone in his favourite apartment and yet has so much charisma to get away with the ridiculous stunts he pulls.

joo jang-mi. disastrous, feisty, caring. can’t stop herself from helping people, but her hot temper often causes more chaos than help.

tsugami shouichi. chef, caring, cutie. despite being an amnesiac, he lives every day with optimism and a desire to create food, whether it’s by cultivating his own food in his garden or going to the market. he chooses to live brightly and see the joy in life.

jumong. brave, heroic, sacrificing. he starts off so useless and self-absorbed, but gradually develops into being a wise ruler and a fearsome warrior. i loved his conflict with his family, how he tried to continue to avoid fighting with his foster father, despite everything, and how he tried to honour his biological father, who he met too briefly.

tendou ryuu. soft, sweet, determined. it amazes me that he retreats into a fantasy world when he finds out the truth about maria and rie, and even then, loves her so much and stops at nothing at trying to get her back. genuinely amiable for most of the show, but i loved his imperfect moments too. he tries so hard to push his feelings to side, but even he is all too human.

yu si-feng. loyal, patient, shy. an absolute sweetheart who suffers so much for love again and again and again, over the course of ten lifetimes. and yet, so adorable and delightful, with how protective and wanting to believe in her.

chu xuan-ji. sweet, trusting, oblivious. i love her temper and rage, but her gentleness and kindness make such a good contrast. she tries to believe in the best of people, it’s a shame that she trusts the wrong people. still, there’s no stopping her fury when si-feng is in danger.

ha no-ra. lost, loyal, lovely. essentially living for her husband and son, i love how she regains herself with a great friendship network, and pushes for communication and improvement and how she finds her independence once again.

cha hyun-suk. smart, soft, sarcastic. stupid cutie with dimples that connects the dots with a watchful eye and a good memory as he lets his petty side inconvenience everyone as he tries to keep up with catching onto everyone’s schemes.

kadoya tsukasa. anomaly, arrogant, amnesiac. he’s just passing through and helping inspire other kamen riders and maybe being a little obnoxious and annoying about it, but he’s so cute that it’s okay!

ban ji-yeon. driven, determined, dedicated. i love her passion for her job, and how she is uncaring of what others think of her. appears selfish at times and yet is consistently kind and considerate when she needs to be.

hidari shoutarou. gentle, goofy, great. love this doofus who is dedicated to the hard-boiled life and can’t stan being called half-boiled. frequently gets annoyed by his companions’ antics, but is pretty lighthearted about it. i loved his soft-heart and optimism and quiet thoughtfulness.

phillip. digital, ditzy, delightful. there’s something about phillip that i adore, with his bright smile and one track mind. i liked how even with all the access to information in the world, he still went down rabbit holes in pursuit of knowledge, and needed to be reined in, from time to time.

li susu. determined, kind, loyal. saw everything through to the end, no matter how much it cost her. loved, despite everything.

tantai jin. lonely, lost, vindictive. destined harbinger of destruction, horribly misunderstood by others. takes a long time to lose that amoral streak of his, and gain agency of his own. as long as he’s with li susu, he’s alright.

oh hae young. lonely, open-hearted, struggling. she starts off pathetic and at a low point of herlife, but i love her breakdowns and how she claws her way to finding stability, how unhinged. even when life gets her down, it’s enough that she survives. she needs help to weather the storm, but i love that people are protective of her.

park do-kyung. reserved, exacting, grumpy. his mistake causes the whole mess in the first place, though he tries to stay away from her, he can’t help but care. i also love his dedication to his profession and how much he cares for his family.
