Watched in 2022
This is a list to help me keep track of all of the Asian dramas and films that I watch in 2022. :)
Order is chronological based on when I finished watching them.
-
1. Mood of the Day
Korean Movie - 2016
Alright movie--plot was a bit lacking, but I did enjoy the banter between the leads and some of the scenes were very cute. :)
-
2. Strongest Deliveryman
Korean Drama - 2017, 16 episodes
Cute and funny. Not my fave, but definitely enjoyable. :) Plus, I'm always happy to see Kim Seon Ho.
-
3. Hotel del Luna
Korean Drama - 2019, 16 episodes
Absolutely LOVEDDDDD this drama! IU is now an absolute fave of mine and I love her so much! I only wish the ending wasn't quite so open-ended. :P
-
4. Color Rush
Korean Drama - 2020, 8 episodes
It was alright. Liked the main couple, but the world-building and story was a bit confusing and not very well explored in the story. Not sure if I'll watch the second season or not yet.
-
5. Mystic Pop-Up Bar
Korean Drama - 2020, 12 episodes
LOVED THIS SOOOO MUCH! The three leads were absolutely phenomenal and I loved them all so much! Their chemistry, and the banter was so good, and their dynamics were just so lovely! I'm also now a super duper big fan of Choi Won Young and will be looking into his past work! ;)
-
6. Love and Leashes
Korean Movie - 2022
This was definitely an experience! My friend and I watched it together and we went into it thinking it was a series. It was a bit unorthodox and unexpected, but had some surprisingly sweet and tender moments. I actually enjoyed it quite a bit and the actors did a stellar job!
-
7. The King's Affection
Korean Drama - 2021, 20 episodes
The aesthetics of this show and the acting were superb, but the pacing of the story was a bit too slow for me, and I have to admit that I was only so-so about the romance. I absolutely loved the second male lead, not so much as a love interest, but just as a character, so I'll be looking into more of his work! :)
-
8. The Rational Life
Chinese Drama - 2021, 35 episodes
Absolutely LOVED this Chinese drama! The first asian drama I watched was actually the version of Meteor Garden that Dylan Wang was in, so I was thrilled to see him in a new contemporary romantic drama and it was so lovely! The romance was pretty slow burn and it took a while to get to that part of the story, but I loved the side plots too, so I didn't mind...and plus the romance was so worth the wait! It was so sweet and such a lovely, feelgood story! Loved seeing the serious topics discussed throughout the drama, and especially seeing such a strong female lead!
-
9. Semantic Error
Korean Drama - 2022, 8 episodes
Absolutely LOVED Semantic Error! This is one of my fave BL webtoons, so I've been eagerly waiting for the Kdrama to come out and it was PERFECT! The story was translated into film so well, and the actors were phenomenal!!! I only wish we had more episodes because I so wasn't ready for it to end! <3
-
10. Forecasting Love and Weather
Korean Drama - 2022, 16 episodes
I am a HUGE fan of Park Min Young and I really like Song Kang, too, so I was very excited for this one! I did enjoy the two of them together, and really loved the first half of this drama, but the ending was a big too dramatic and rushed for me. I wish it had more humour similar to the beginning of the show near the end. It was definitely interesting to see all of the weather and forescasting bits though!
-
11. Business Proposal
Korean Drama - 2022, 12 episodes
Absolutely loved this drama! I'm a huge fan of the webtoon, so I was very excited to see it brought to life and this adaption was wonderful! The actors were phenomenal and I loved most of the story changes. The only thing that took this from a 10 to a 9.5 was that the finale was a bit rushed since they added in a bunch of last minute drama...would've loved for them to end it the same way the main webtoon storyline ended to be honest. ;) Will likely rewatch this one again though!
-
12. My Sassy Girl
Korean Drama - 2017, 32 episodes
Really enjoyed this one! The leads were fantastic and I loved their banter and chemistry! The plot surrounding the dethroned Queen was interesting, but I did find the resolution a bit sloppy and I felt like this one dragged a little bit in the last few episodes and then really rushed at the ending. Overall, it was super sweet though and I did enjoy it!
-
13. Snowdrop
Korean Drama - 2021, 16 episodes
Oh boy...this was an emotional roller coaster! I absolutely LOVED Jung Hae in and Kim Ji Soo in this! they were phenomenal and I thought their chemistry was so sweet...I've been a huge fan of Hae In's for a while now, but I hope Ji Soo does more dramas after this--she was wonderful! While this drama left me destroyed and was definitely on the more sad side of things, I still thoroughly loved it. The acting was wonderful, cinematography was stunning, OST was on point, and the story was extremely intriguing...not sure if it's one I'll rewatch because it wrecked me, but it's definitely going to linger in my mind for a very long time.
-
14. What's Wrong with Secretary Kim
Korean Drama - 2018, 16 episodes
This one was a rewatch--it was just as lovely this time as it was the first time I saw it! It does have a little chunk in the middle that I find drags a bit (the part surrounding the brother's part in the story), but overall, still loved it and Park Min Young and Park Seo Joon were just as wonderful as I remembered. <3 <3 <3
-
15. Something about 1 Percent
Korean Drama - 2016, 16 episodes
I loved the male lead, Ha Seok Jin, in his small role in Crash Landing on You, so I've been meaning to watch a drama of his ever since. I'm glad that it was this one because it was really sweet! A bit dated with the "alpha" vibe of the lead, but overall pretty sweet and fun. It also had me laughing, which was just what I needed after watching Snowdrop not too long ago! :P
-
16. My ID Is Gangnam Beauty
Korean Drama - 2018, 16 episodes
I'm a HUGE fan of Cha Eunwoo, so I've been wanting to watch this one for a while, and I'm so glad that I did! The romance was so cute, and the characters were fantastic! I do wish that there was more happening with the potential side couples and less drama with the one female character, but the romance was so adorable and Eunwoo was so cute that I still absolutely loved it! Just going to have to imagine the two side couples I wanted to happen did I guess. :P
-
17. Extraordinary Attorney Woo
Korean Drama - 2022, 16 episodes
Oh my goodness! This drama was absolutely LOVELY! The story was wholesome and I really enjoyed the cast sooooo much! Young Woo was definitely not your typical lead as I don't think I've ever heard of a female lead having autism in a drama before, so it was lovely to see some neurodivergent rep! She stood out in the best of ways and she was so refreshing and endearing! Always trying her best! Jun Ho was probably the bestest best boy I've seen in a drama...if not the best, he's on the very top of the list, and I loved every moment he appeared on screen. The other lawyers were (mostly) fabulous and I loved Young Woo's friends and father! If you're looking for something a bit different that is sweet, funny, and just all around a feel-good show, then I highly recommend Extraordinary Attorney Woo! I'm not sure if the rumours of a second season are true, but I'd definiely watch more if I could. The ending here was a bit more open-ended than I typically like, but I was super satisfied overall! <3
-
18. Alchemy of Souls
Korean Drama - 2022, 20 episodes
Wooooowww! First off, this drama was stunning! Gorgeous aesthetics, effects, and just all around beautiful! They acting was phenomenal and the story was so captivating! I loved Jang Uk and Mu Deok so much—and also have a serious soft spot for Yul, the Crown Prince, and Maidservant Kim! The ending on thispart had me absolutely sobbing and I am going to be counting down the days until we get more!!! Wow. So amazing!!!!
-
19. Thirty-Nine
Korean Drama - 2022, 12 episodes
Going into this drama, I had no idea what to expect, but as soon as I started the first episode, I knew I was in for something that was going to make me cry. It was an extremely emotional drama, so I took my time with this one and didn’t rush it, but overall, it was overly and the relationships and friendships in the story were phenomenal and moving! It had me smiling, laughing, crying, and thinking about the people I love. It’s a very open-ended story, but it really is just a snapshot at the lives of these characters. While I wouldn’t consider this a fave, I do think it was a beautiful story and it’ll definitely be on my mind for a while.
-
20. A Tale of Thousand Stars
Thai Drama - 2021, 10 episodes
I have mixed feelings about this one. I really enjoyed the earlier episodes and the leads had amazing chemistry in them, but the later half of the drama just got too dramatic and I didn't like how Phupha reacted/acted during it. I loved Tian and honestly felt like he deserved so much better. I loveeeed all of the friends so much though, especially Longtae, Nam (the doctor) and Tul! It was so lovely how accepting they were and encouraging! I was happy with the very end, but wished that it hadn't taken Tian and Phupha so long to get there.
-
21. Love Between Fairy and Devil Special
Chinese Special - 2022, 2 episodes
Cute little extra episodes after the drama wrapped. Mostly flashbacks, but still made me happy to see. :)
-
22. Love Between Fairy and Devil
Chinese Drama - 2022, 36 episodes
Ahhh...absolutely LOVED this Cdrama!!! The story was intriguing, the production was AMAZING, and the acting was phenomenal! I loved Orchid and Dongfang the most, but the whole cast was truly wonderful!!! The ending was a bit rushed, but I still really loved this drama. :)
-
23. Mom, Don't Do That!
Taiwanese Drama - 2022, 11 episodes
This wasn't quite as light and fluffy as I expected, but it definitely had me laughing and I enjoyed seeing Mei Mei, Rong, and Min find happiness in their lives! I wish it hadn't been quite so open-ended, but it was definitely a fun drama in general...when it wasn't making me cry unexpectedly. :P
-
24. Once Upon a Small Town
Korean Drama - 2022, 12 episodes
This was a short and sweet drama! Gave me serious Hometown Cha Cha Cha vibes and the main couple was absolutely adorable! Loved all of the cute animals and the cast of recurring characters in the town, too. Definitely worth watching if you want a quick, up lifting and heartwarming drama. :)
-
25. Big Mouth
Korean Drama - 2022, 16 episodes
Wow! This was definitely a heavy and gritty drama, but it did have some funny and sweet moments, too. The acting was phenomenal, the story was so gripping, and the characters were really compelling...even the ones you didn't like were well developed. I was hooked on this drama right from the start and didn't want to watch anything else. :P
It definitely had a bittersweet ending and left me rather sad, but it felt authentic to the story. This is one of those dramas that is going to sit in my mind for quite a while! -
26. Love All Play
Korean Drama - 2022, 16 episodes
Woooooowww!!! New fave right here! This drama was so sweet, the characters were fantastic, and the story was wonderful! As soon as I started, I was enchanted and enamoured with the characters and I couldn’t wait to see what happened next! I had a few characters I didn’t like that totally won my over by the end, and I’ve found a new comfort drama right here. Absolutely loved it!!!
-
27. Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha
Korean Drama - 2021, 16 episodes
In the last bit of the year, I had a strong urge to rewatch some faves and first up was Hometown Cha-ChaCha! It was lovely ad usual and still continues to be one of my top fave dramas!
-
28. Decibel
Korean Movie - 2022
I was luckily fairly close to one of the Canadian theatres screening Decibel, so I couldn’t resist going to see it and I’m so glad that that I did! It was intense, andsuper emotional! I especially loved seeing Cha Eunwoo on the big screen and love his song from the OST!
-
29. Train to Busan
Korean Movie - 2016
I finally watched Train to Busan and it was just as emotional and amazing as everyone said it was! The story was so intense and the actors were phenomenal! Definitely left me feeling super emotional and I thoroughly enjoyed it!
-
30. Run On
Korean Drama - 2020, 16 episodes
Another rewatch for me! I love how this drama feels more like a slice of life, and while there is some drama, so much of it is just the characters discovering more about themselves and finding meaning and connection in their lives! Love the cast so, so much too!!!!
-
31. Do Do Sol Sol La La Sol
Korean Drama - 2020, 16 episodes
I started part two of Alchemy of Souls and it left me eager for more Lee Jae Wook, so I decided to finally start Do Do Sol Sol La La Sol and I really enjoyed the actors and story, especially the main couple. I wasn’t a fan of the way it concluded though, so the last arc of the story and finale were a bit disappointing. The leads were absolutely wonderful though and I loved Mimi!
