Ding Yuxi Shows (Watched)
12/4/24
Ding Yuxi is my current favorite actor to watch. Took a bit for him to grow on me after seeing him for the first time in Love You Seven Times. His acting style and micro expressions are always a treat. He does sad, emotional and/or anguished the best. A bunch of hits and misses as expected. Out of everything I've seen, Intense Love was by far the worst. So far only three of his shows stick in my head.

1. Love You Seven Times
Chinese Drama - 2023, 38 episodes
Watched: 9/4/23

- His costume makes him look so small.
- A better director who would have gotten Yang Chaoyue to act better would have made this really good. She's not bad in other stuff.
- DYX good emotional scenes. (This was my 1st DYX show, and I started to appreciate him after watching the music video edits and noticed the way he acted a lot with his eyes. I was comparing it to LBFAD too much when I first watched it and YCY was too distracting, and he wasn't really impressive to me at first glance.)
- I still love this show even though it's not the best out there.

2. Love Game in Eastern Fantasy

- This is probably DYX's best acting work. Styling looks great too (especially his wig). He gets to display a wide range of emotions which is very easy to read. I wish they didn't put all that red lipstick on him though.
- Not enough demon mode.
- Could have been better if it was his real voice, but the VA is acceptable and is close enough to his real voice.
- Starts out really good, flails a bit in the middle, then feels rushed at the end.
- Ending gave a good overall feeling. It was nice tying some things together, but the only thing that felt off to me was that she never really fully interacted with him during their childhood.
- Cast interactions post airing are enjoyable.
- Didn't find the OST very memorable, but this song is now sticking in my head because of the video they made. https://x.com/Ruyi87474/status/1861553085232893996
- I'm going to have to rewatch it again since I was watching it as it aired.
- Had to re-watch Moonlight right after because I wanted more.

3. Moonlight
Chinese Drama - 2021, 36 episodes
Watched: 11/25/23

- Esther is like full blown loud here and milks the bubbly "cute" thing where she puffs her cheeks, covers her face with her hair and all that. Oddly enough, I'm used to her so it doesn't bother me. She gets her moments of maturity and seriousness.
- DYX's character is cute here.

12/3/24 Thinking back on the show
- I kept wanting him to do more cat type stuff. Lol.
- The friendships and that funny looking guy was what made the show enjoyable to watch.
- I can't remember much about it. I think I remember it started off with a lot of humor and then got serious.

7. Melody of Golden Age
Chinese Drama - 2024, 40 episodes

- If Ding Yuxi wasn't the lead I might have actually dropped it.
- The dubbing bothered me the most about this show. It's the VA who did Yang Yang's King's Avatar character.
- Started off well, but the cases/plot wasn't holding my attention, but the story was easy to understand in the last 10 episodes where the story picked back up again.
- Could have been shorter by 10 episodes with all the attention I wasn't giving the storyline.
- I almost felt like the romance storyline was just squeezed in there, this would have worked without the romance. It was nice seeing the interactions though.
- Good costumes, the fur stuff looked nice.
- (Warm On A Cold Night had a more fun female detective character with a more engaging group.)

8. The Romance of Tiger and Rose
Chinese Drama - 2020, 24 episodes
Watched: 9/23/23
12/3/24
- It was a good watch, but I wasn't a fan of how it ended. I got spoiled by Lost Romance.
- I didn't watch because of ZLS. I wasn't a big fan of when they intro'd her character.
- Might have to try watching it again one of these days.

9. Just an Encore
Chinese Drama - 2019, 31 episodes
Watched: 12/11/24

- Why I watched it: DYX, but I stuck with it because the FL had so many funny antics with the side characters.
- It was pretty tedious otherwise, love squares [?!], a few characters that were just dull (by design). Crushes/puppy love, cultural attitudes that cause misunderstandings, plus being a teenager.
- DYX does top level work here as usual when it came to his character showing his real emotions under the happy go lucky image. (Ep 3 start was a good demonstration of that.)
- It's a story of her youth in which case it's not really bad. Lots of questions at that last episode which dragged a bit.

10. Intense Love
Chinese Drama - 2020, 24 episodes

- Wow. I couldn't watch this show.
- DYX barely showed much character in this one, another actor would have been better for the role since he's got such an animated face and can do so much.
- The actress was the worst part of the show. Might have been more bearable with someone else and a better director and script. (I keep blaming the directors...) She was actually watchable in that show with Chen Xingxu which I didn't finish - A Beautiful Lie.
