All of the Dramas & Movies that I watched in the year 2020!
-
1. Crash Landing on You
Korean Drama - 2019, 16 episodes
Great acting, sweet chemistry, AMAZING cast (seriously everyone!), and cute little 2-4 minute epilogues at the end of each episode! I've really enjoyed my time spent on this drama I laughed a whole lot, and even managed to tear up once or twice. This is a new favorite, that I might even revisit in the future! One complaint... the leads cried A LOT, hell the FL spent the last 4 episodes with permanent red eyes from the constant crying! (UPDATE: I ENDED UP REWATCHING THIS!)
-
2. Mr. Sunshine
Korean Drama - 2018, 24 episodes
What a devastatingly beautiful story, the amount of characters that were brought to life throughout this 24 episode drama was extraordinary! The depth to these characters, their reason for being the way that they are, ranging from the main characters, villains, nobles, and rebels was shown in a way that brought out intense emotions in me while watching. I felt anger, joy, excitment, and extreme sorrow for all these characters. What an incredible drama, I won't forget this journey anytime soon!!!
-
3. Healer
Korean Drama - 2014, 20 episodes
The hype is 100% deserved for this show. The ML was such a badass & the incredible Ji Chang Wook portrayed him impeccably. The centerpiece for this entire show, though is the incredible writing, that managed to make me scream, smile, and sweat each and every single episode. The action, the mystery, and even the adorable romance made this such a joy to watch, it's a new favorite for sure!
-
4. Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo
Korean Drama - 2016, 20 episodes
I avoided watching this drama for several years knowing the ending, yet randomly decided to give this a try on a whim, and without even realizing it I plowed through all 20 episodes in THREE DAYS!!! Lee Jun Ki the ML BECAME Wang So, the transformation was impeccable, IU less so, but she did eventually grow into her character! The tragic love story, the multitude of characters all vying for the same throne, quite frankly EVERYTHING about this drama was spectacular, there was not one dull moment!!
-
5. Kill Me, Heal Me
Korean Drama - 2015, 20 episodes
I found myself blown away while watching this drama, the acting, the writing, and even the music all combined together to form a MASTERPIECE! The definite standout performance was by Ji Sung the ML, playing a character with 7 different personalities is no easy feat, but he managed to do so in a way that left you feeling breathless. All personalities were different & you could tell when he switched into a new one right away, it wasn't the hair or makeup IT WAS HIM!! The leads chemistry was on point (although this was expected because of "Secret"), and the story itself unraveled in a way that left you feeling excited & surprised with every new discovery. What an amazing drama!
-
6. Till the End of the World
Chinese Movie - 2018
I was not expecting to LOVE this movie as much as I do! The cinematography, acting, story, as well as chemistry between the leads sealed this as a favorite for me! Mark Chao (ML) in particular did an INCREDIBLE job with his portrayal of Fu Chen in this movie. Seriously I just loved this!!
-
7. The Legend of the Blue Sea
Korean Drama - 2016, 20 episodes
I gave this drama a shot because of how much I loved the screenwriter's other works (CLOY & My Love from Another Star), and thankfully this one was yet another hit for me! The way that the historical first life was tied in to the story of the main & supporting leads after their rebirth shocked me again and again! Legend of the Blue Sea was an example of a "fated love" that worked out beautifully, the main pairing had a love that defied fate, and watching their story play out was so much fun! An added bonus was the diverse yet interesting supporting cast, each one brought something new to the table, with all of them being exciting additions to the story!
-
8. My Dear Youth - Coffee Prince
Korean Special - 2020, 2 episodes
Finding out that this documentary was going to be filmed sent me over the moon, as someone that's watched Coffee Prince 4 times. Long story short it didn't disappoint, the intense feeling of nostalgia I had remained consistent throughout both episodes. I view this as an extra chapter in a story that I will never stop loving, this was a fun & worthwhile watch!!!
-
9. A Moment to Remember
Korean Movie - 2004
This is my 2nd time watching this movie, and simply put it's a masterpiece. Even knowing what was going to happen didn't lessen each and every single soul-shattering scene, and emotional moments. It's a tale of true love with a heartbreaking twist, and I just can't stop myself from feeling empty after finishing it.
-
10. Coffee Prince
Korean Drama - 2007, 17 episodes
I've watched this 4 times, and even though it's been 13 years since this drama came out, it will forever be one of my all time favorite KDramas! A timeless masterpiece, with one of my absolute favorite ships!
-
11. Scent of a Woman
Korean Drama - 2011, 16 episodes
This was my 3rd time watching this drama, and once again I marveled at the story! From acting, to chemistry, to OST's, and pacing of the story everything was damn near perfect! This couple, this tragically beautiful love story always has a way of making me cry yet appreciate life!
-
12. The Man from Nowhere
Korean Movie - 2010
This was a rewatch for me, and even a second time around this movie had me on the edge of my seat! Won Bin's portrayal was phenomenal, even though his character wasn't a chatterbox and had few lines, his each and EVERY SINGLE micro-expression made his portrayal so epic! This movie was a thrilling and action-packed adventure that I enjoyed from start to finish!
-
13. The Negotiation
Korean Movie - 2018
Watching one of my all-time favorite OTP's from CLOY gracing my screen again this time as enemies in The Negotiation made for a really interesting birthday! The movie itself was predictable, but because of the stellar performance from both leads ESPECIALLY Hyun Bin it worked! He truly became Min Tae Gu, and even though his actions were wrong I couldn't bring myself to hate his character. Although this movie wasn't spectacular, it still made for a fun watch!
-
14. Someday or One Day
Taiwanese Drama - 2019, 13 episodes
I don't typically watch Taiwanese Dramas and had it not been for the crazy good reviews this one had gotten, I probably would've missed out on the best time travel dramas that I've seen PERIOD! The amount of times that a twist managed to make me feel completely thrown for a loop can't even be counted anymore, I was left guessing up until the very end, but enjoyed EVERY SECOND of that! Truly a gem, I'm so glad I watched this the characters, acting, romance, mystery, and just about everything else made this a superb viewing experience!
-
15. Love and Redemption
Chinese Drama - 2020, 59 episodes
I gave this drama a shot solely because of how popular this was, but ended being knocked off my feet by a thrilling & fun ride. The romance between the leads both tormented my heart & soothed it. The challenges they faced, and every single time they were there for each other blew me away! The ML in particular was definitely my favorite character. In comparison to how much I loved the main couple, I felt indifferent towards the secondary couple. All in all a great show that had amazing CGI, was wonderfully acted, and even had OST's that perfectly suited the mood they were trying to portray!
-
16. Train to Busan
Korean Movie - 2016
Zombie movies aren't really my type, but I gave this a shot for Gong Yoo, and I ended up really enjoying this movie! There wasn't a single moment that my eyes weren't glued to the screen, I was rooting for the main characters wholeheartedly & even screamed at my T.V. a couple of times in fear for their lives. The pacing, the acting, the SFX, the character development, and the story in general made for a really exciting & nerve-wracking movie experience!
-
17. Confidential Assignment
Korean Movie - 2017
I was definitely biased in favor of this movie since it has one of my favorites Hyun Bin in it, but even if I was to ignore that fact this was a really funny & exciting Action-Comedy movie! The North & South detectives had great chemistry, to the point of carrying multiple scenes just off of their hilarious antics, and the action scenes were intense & got my heart pumping like crazy! Even with minor plot holes, this ended up being a really fun movie!
-
18. Mood of the Day
Korean Movie - 2016
This was a rewatch for me, and even the second time around I felt butterflies due to this cute main pairing. This is a rom-com so there wasn't much depth to this story, but it still made for a fluffy feel-good watch with the main leads having nice chemistry. Seeing Yoo Yeon Seok actually get the girl & not die was an added plus! :)
-
19. Touch Your Heart
Korean Drama - 2019, 16 episodes
This drama got off to a pretty slow start, taking me around 6-ish episodes to really get into it. Having said that though, when it finally started taking off it got really good! The main couple had adorable chemistry, and made me openly squeal while watching my screen. The supporting cast was a surprise delight, I wasn't expecting to find such interesting characters outside of the leads. The secondary prosecutor couple unfortunately were a really boring & bland pairing, I disliked their scenes. Overall it was a good one-time watch.
-
20. The Romance of Tiger and Rose
Chinese Drama - 2020, 24 episodes
I gave this show a shot on a whim, but ended up being pleasantly surprised by it's humor and charm! The main pairing was adorable, the supporting characters weren't just there for decoration a lot of them served a purpose, and this show even managed to tackle some serious topics in a lighthearted yet meaningful way. It wasn't perfect, but this drama was a fun watch.
-
21. Koi wa Tsuzuku yo Doko Made mo
Japanese Drama - 2020, 10 episodes
Overall this was such a fun & fluffy ride!! The ML was my favorite, he appears strict & cold, but underneath all that he's an intelligent & dedicated doctor that puts his patients above all else, and even though the FL was more open about her love there's no doubt he cherished her too! The only reason that this isn't a perfect 10 was because the FL, was a bit cringey for me to watch, and the actress couldn't do a crying scene to save her life (although she excelled at the lovesick/silly puppy parts).
-
22. Biscuit Teacher and Star Candy
Korean Drama - 2005, 16 episodes
I checked this out mainly for the Gong Yoo & Gong Hyo Jin pairing, but ended up really liking the heartwarming tale of youth & a teacher's dedication in the process! One thing that this drama really excelled in was developing episodic dramatic moments in the students lives, one that the FL would assist them on improving both themselves & bettering their situations. The romance was absolutely adorable, the ML's puppy-like devotion and love for the FL had me grinning from ear to ear. Even though this drama came out 15 years ago, it still ended up being a really fun watch!!!
-
23. Dear My Name
Korean Drama - 2019, 6 episodes
Playlist Global has done it again, what an interesting drama! The soulmate concept was unique and handled beautifully. Soulmates are your destined partners, sure. But the fact that both leads in this drama fell for the other even without the soulmate label goes to show that their fate was real! The 10 minute episodes just flew by, this was such a cute little drama!
-
24. Watashitachi wa Douka Shiteiru
Japanese Drama - 2020, 8 episodes
A surprisingly well done enemies to lovers drama! Extremely fast-paced even with only 8 episodes they just zoom by. The mystery manages to leave you guessing until the final episode, with a heavy dose of twists mixed in. Even though the first episode wasn't mind-blowing, each episode after that kept on getting better and better. As an added bonus, every single episode had Japanese sweets that were mouthwateringly beautiful with a deep meaning behind them!
-
25. Because I Want to Talk
Korean TV Show - 2019, 12 episodes
I only watched the episodes that Gong Yoo was in (1-2), but loved them so much that I'm putting this on my completed list. The other interviews don't intrigue me, so I won't be checking them out. Lee Dong Wook was a great interviewer, and Gong Yoo managed to be both open & honest with his responses. The female Co-Host was funny & had great banter with both men!
-
26. Encounter
Korean Drama - 2018, 16 episodes
This is my 2nd time watching this drama, the chemistry between the leads was on-point, the cinematography was stunning, the acting was incredible, just to name a few of the many positives points to this show! There is however one major downside, and that's the fact that this drama is so slooooow, occasionally to the point of boredom.
-
27. My Girlfriend is an Agent
Korean Movie - 2009
This was a laugh-out-loud hilarious movie, there were multiple moments that I replayed because I was laughing too hard! The comedy was A+ amazing, the chemistry between the leads & the romance portion... not so much. Overall the comedic scenes made up for the choppy romance, it was a really fun movie!
-
28. Oh My Venus
Korean Drama - 2015, 16 episodes
This was my second time watching this drama, and my final thoughts are that the main couple was adorable, the ML's two friends had great synergy with both him & the FL, the secondary couple was trash both as individuals & as a couple, and the dimple kisses were legendary! This wasn't a deep drama at all, but it's still a feel-good fun time!
-
29. Vagabond
Korean Drama - 2019, 16 episodes
This was a really fun Action Drama. Lee Seung Gi and Suzy had great chemistry, that unfortunately ended up being underutilized seeing as how there was practically ZERO romance. The ending was frustrating given the uncertainty of them making a 2nd season. Fun show overall though, action-packed with twists and turns!
-
30. Parasite
Korean Movie - 2019
After this movie took off it had me filled with varying emotions throughout, it definitely deserved the 4 Oscars! The amount of twists that I didn't see coming and the writing itself completely blew me away! The only thing preventing me from giving it a perfect score was that I couldn't really feel sorry or root for the main family, they really were Parasites (what a fitting title!).
-
31. Where Your Eyes Linger
Korean Drama - 2020, 8 episodes
The leads had adorable chemistry that made me squeal on several occasions, this isn't a masterpiece by any means, but it's a fun watch. I liked this for what it was a basic simple fluffy BL. I just wish we could've gotten a couple more episodes (or have the current one's be longer) so that things could've been developed further.
-
32. Goblin
Korean Drama - 2016, 16 episodes
This was such a massive hit, that I put off watching it for the longest time before finally buckling down and giving it a shot. Honestly it didn't live up to my extremely high expectations, but the drama was still a fun watch overall. The cinematography, the OST's, most of the story, and of course the acting made for an fulfilling viewing experience. Some negatives... The FL being a high schooler for a majority of the drama, since there was a loveline with the Goblin her being a minor was uncomfortable, and the secondary couple with their push & pull relationship was frustrating to watch at times. Negatives aside, it was still an overall pleasant drama!
-
33. Romance, Talking
Korean Drama - 2020, 8 episodes
This was a cute little web-drama, that managed to keep my interest from start to finish. The couple had chemistry, and SEVERAL steamy kiss scenes. As for the plot... it's nothing new, BUT this isn't the type of drama you go into expecting a masterpiece. At face value this was a fluffy romance between a Youtuber & a girl who's his fan, and that part was done well!
-
34. Dating in the Kitchen
Chinese Drama - 2020, 24 episodes
This was a fluffy ride filled to the absolute brim with delicious & mouthwatering food porn!!! Initially, the drama was doing really well, however, the last handful of episodes almost ruined my watching experience, the FL's intelligence just deteriorated & she was frustrating to watch. The leads had cute chemistry, but the secondary couple had none to speak of. Their storyline was bland, and it felt like they just got pasted together for plot purposes.
-
35. Her Private Life
Korean Drama - 2019, 16 episodes
Mature and beautiful relationship with plenty of steamy kiss scenes, but with a subpar plot that didn't stay interesting until the end. A+ for a supportive, loving, and open with his emotions ML, but a C for the actual plot itself. (Especially the random family drama added in the last 2 episodes!) Overall it was a nice one-time watch, but I definitely won't re-watch this. (I might watch some clips of the kiss scenes though!)
-
36. Moon Embracing the Sun
Korean Drama - 2012, 20 episodes
This was a good Historical KDrama, the first few episodes where the leads were played by their younger versions were my favorite! Yeo Jin Goo & Kim Yoo Jung did an amazing job & had me completely convinced of their undying love for one another. After the adult versions take over the story started to falter, and took up until the last 5 episodes to gain a lot of momentum. Acting-wise it was well done, pacing-wise it could've been better. And I wished that the FL wasn't so passive.
-
37. Montage
Korean Movie - 2013
This was a good one time watch, my favorite part was that I didn't see the ending coming, the final twist took me by surprise! Having said that though, my one complaint that's preventing me from giving this a higher rating is the main villain... the movie built him up as this big scary monster, but the outcome/reveal didn't deliver. Also, the case was supposed to be the "perfect crime", but with a little bit of digging (by someone that wasn't a cop) it completely unraveled.
-
38. The Most Ordinary Romance
Korean Movie - 2019
Cute & lighthearted movie starring one of my favorite Korean actresses Gong Hyo Jin. The story itself wasn't special or unique in any particular way so I can't give it a perfect 10, but then again the title for this movie is 'The Most Ordinary Romance'. All in all it was a nice one time watch that actually made me giggle a couple times.
-
39. Love Alarm
Korean Drama - 2019, 8 episodes
The premise was intriguing with an added bonus of a beautiful cast, and at only 8 episodes I breezed right through them. HOWEVER I can't get over the lack of communication between the FL & her 2 suitors. EVERYTHING would be solved simply by telling the truth, obviously that's not gonna happen because there's still one whole season left to this show. The writing was pretty weak, but I still enjoyed watching this.
-
40. The World of the Married
Korean Drama - 2020, 16 episodes
The amount of crazy drama and twists drove me wild, the acting was extraordinary in a way where EVERYONE felt real! The last major conflict + the final episode (which I hated!) just frustrated me to no ends. Overall I liked this drama, I've lost count of the amount of times that I found my eyes glued to the screen as yet another dramatic twists happened, it definitely deserves the hype!
-
41. Catch the Ghost
Korean Drama - 2019, 16 episodes
The acting was fine, but the FL's character was soooo annoying almost throughout the entire drama, I don't mind quick-tempered & resourceful people, but she was like a bull that just charged in without giving any thought to the consequences of her actions. The episodic crimes were interesting prior to focusing on the main crime. All in all a good show, but not a great one that's worth re-watching.
-
42. Hwayi: A Monster Boy
Korean Movie - 2013
Excellent acting by the entire cast, but a MAJOR commendation for Yeo Jin Goo who played Hwayi. He was only 16 years old at the time of filming, but it's his facial expressions and wide range as an actor that truly sold this story for me. The movie is intense and very very bloody, but a wild & thrilling story overall.
-
43. Maybe, Maybe Not
Korean Drama - 2019, 8 episodes
This was a cute yet simple story, given the fact that it's a small 8 episode web drama though it worked out because the story didn't feel dragged. The Supernatural aspect of the show had no actual affect on the story, and was pretty useless. Overall there's it was just a cheesy story without much depth to it, but it was still a nice one-time watch.
-
44. Do Do Sol Sol La La Sol
Korean Drama - 2020, 16 episodes
The first 13 episodes of this drama consisted of pure lighthearted fluff that had me smiling from ear to ear and readily clicking on the next episode. HOWEVER, from Episode 14 and onwards it was crap. The ending truly ruined this drama, and the only reason that my rating isn't lower is because of how much I enjoyed the first 13 eps. The drama title was meaningful to the story, the leads had cute chemistry, the supporting characters were likable. This should've been a new favorite, I'm still shocked with how depressingly terrible the last 3 episodes were.
-
45. The Legends
Chinese Drama - 2019, 56 episodes
This was my first Wuxia drama in over 2 years! The story itself was interesting, but suffered due to the INSANE amount of filler used for the sole purpose of drawing out the plot. The FL was a badass & her confidence was a delight to watch, while the ML was an absolute devoted cutie! A lot of the supporting characters got their own storylines, but I genuinely did not care about anyone else's story outside of the leads (and Zhi Yan's). Overall this isn't some masterpiece that I'll rewatch, but I didn't hate it either it was okay.
-
46. Another Miss Oh
Korean Drama - 2016, 18 episodes
I went into this drama with high expectations, that quite frankly weren't met. A lot of the characters weren't likeable, and some supporting characters even faded into obscurity around halfway through the drama. Complaints aside, there were a couple things that I LOVED: 1) The maturity of the plot, these weren't 30-somethings acting like virgins that would blush if their hands touched. Topics like sex, pregnancy, and etc ran rampant throughout the show! 2) The INSANE amount of sexy kiss scenes!! ALL couples were incredible in this aspect, especially the leads!!!
-
47. I Saw the Devil
Korean Movie - 2010
This movie is A LOT more intense that something that I would typically watch, but it was relatively well done overall. Acting-wise the villain was the absolute star, because I swear even his eyes screamed out "I'm evil!". Different from the typical revenge "I'm tracking down the person that killed my loved one" in that the MC finds him very early into the movie, but choosing to toy with/continuously punish him for the rest of the time. This was a scary, thrilling, gorey movie it's not a favorite, but it was okay.
-
48. Rampant
Korean Movie - 2018
Meh this was a typical zombie movie, there wasn't anything that special about it. I gave this movie a shot because of Hyun Bin, and he was the main reason that I stayed until the end. I didn't have an emotional connection to the characters, so even when some of them died it didn't really faze me. The special affects were cool though, the zombies looked creepy!
-
49. Pure Melo District
Korean Drama - 2020, 4 episodes
This was a really short 4 episode web-series. The story albeit a bit shallow had a nice flow throughout. I liked how all 3 leads got closure, and that the FL wasn't the typical "perfect saint-like FL" that's usually seen in KDramas.
-
50. Memorist
Korean Drama - 2020, 16 episodes
This was a lot scarier than I expected it to be, and that was mainly because of the ominous music & creepy villains (Although I found the main villain to look to cartoon-like with the mask & red eyes). The story itself was so jam-packed with twists that almost nothing was guaranteed. There was just SO MUCH going on in this drama that I got a bit lost, and finding out that EVERYTHING was connected felt a bit forced. Meh it was okay overall.
-
51. Dr. Romantic Season 2
Korean Drama - 2020, 16 episodes
The first season of Romantic Doctor is my all-time favorite Medical KDrama, but that's what makes this season all the more disappointing for me. The leads had no chemistry, the chemistry between the leads & Teacher Kim was off, the surgeries/cases weren't as interesting, the office politics overshadowed the actual medical portion of the show, and the main villain was a joke he felt evil just to be evil. One of the only positives that I have to say about this show was the supporting cast (who attributed to making S1 so special) had more screentime in this drama.
-
52. Miss & Mrs. Cops
Korean Movie - 2019
I was expecting this to be the female equivalent of Midnight Runners, but instead it ended up being an utter disappointment. The two leads didn't have the kind of chemistry where they could bounce off of each other and keep the ball rolling, the main case they were working on felt predictable and uninteresting, and even the main villain didn't give off "evil" vibes. All in all this was a cheap & bland movie without any depth to it.
-
53. Autumn Fairy Tale
Chinese Movie - 2019
There was nothing that I liked about this movie, if I didn't have background knowledge on the basic plot-points in this story due to it being a remake of the SK drama "Autumn in my Heart" I would've been so confused as to what that ending was. The romance was nonsensical, a lot of scenes felt choppy, and towards the end some character's decisions made ZERO sense! This was 1hr & 45 minutes of my life that I wasted!
-
54. Someday or One Day Extra Scene
Taiwanese Special - 2020, 1 episode
This was just a cute little 4 minute extra scene that the crew got together and did as a thank you to the viewers. The length aside, this video made me feel all warm & fuzzy inside, grateful to get yet another clip from this awesome drama and cast!!
