Offbeat & quirky, but surprisingly heartfelt story..
The first couple episodes I was left scratching my head, but the great chemistry and performances of the 2 ML characters kept me watching.I was pleasantly surprised by how this very quirky, awkward show managed to morph into such a sweet and touching love story between a high school delinquent and his college age tutor.
I also surprised myself by re-watching a few episodes only a few months after finishing the show. I don’t usually rewatch, but some of the scenes stuck in my head and I honestly missed this pair of cuties so much that I had to see them again.
This show is worth a watch- give it a chance♥️

watched for Neo and Lusi, but I just can’t continue..
Zhao Lusi is one of my 2 fave Chinese actresses, so I was very excited to watch this drama. I also was recently introduced to Neo Hou and really liked his work, so big bonus to see them together..My problem with this show lies solely on the Communist agenda being applauded and revered at every turn, and basically crammed down our throats. I just can’t sit through the one-sided history this show portrays. The Chinese people suffered greatly during this time, but this show has citizens as only gung-ho Mao supporters, while they are starving, freezing to death, living in severe poverty, and under intense scrutiny for any sign of opposition in either word or deed that could cost them their life.
A true accounting of history shows both sides of story, backed up with facts, not what was displayed here, which feels more like fantasy fiction.

A step backwards for OffGun after ‘Not Me”
I love OffGun and watch everything they are in, whether it’s together or their solo projects, but I really have a soft spot for them, as they are one of the 1st BL couples that I fell in love with, in both dramas and reality shows.Cooking Crush is not a bad BL, it is a rom-com BL, heavy on goofiness and comedy, but very light on storyline and character development.
My beef is mostly with GMMTV, for using veteran BL couples who have proven their worth- starting their careers with several lesser roles on several so-so series, and have now worked their way up to a certain level of stardom and credibility.
I feel like their apex was definitely hit with last year’s Not Me. Not only was it worthy of OffGun, it had substance, serious subject matter, and was thoughtfully executed by these the entire amazing cast.
I thought “great! now that everyone has seen them at their best, they won’t have to do high school or college roles anymore.” SMH 🤦♀️
GMMTV has such a huge catalog of teen- early 20’s actors that could have easily slipped into these Cooking Crush roles.
IMHO, it’s a waste of OffGun’s talent to put them in these types of series that they have already done many times and now can do in their sleep.
Just one fan’s opinion..🤷🏻♀️
