All Time Soft Heartwarming Favorite

When you need to watch something to warm your heart and reminiscence about those good ol' days, then this is that perfect drama for you. This is probably one of the most popular dramas of all time and I know that it deserves its spot. It may not have the best plot or dramatic arc or anything but that's what makes it perfect. It's light, character-driven, and tickles your heart.

The best aspects of this drama. for me, are the casts, OST's, cinematography, and chemistry. We all know how top-tier Sung Kyung and Joo Hyuk's chemistry. Besides that, I love how the characters are made, from their backstories, struggles, and motivations, it gives them that depth that would make you greatly connect and empathize with them. They're flawed and that's how it made them feel real. They're not those perfect genius characters that can do everything, instead, they struggle to reach their goals and I think it greatly reflects real teenagers' situations.

It might not have the best plot but I love that it's character-driven. I am seriously a love triangle hater but I didn't mind the start at all where there's a slight love triangle between Book Joo, Joon Hyung, and his brother. I really think that it greatly helps in the development of Book Joo's character and the growth of Joo Hyung's feelings towards her.

Besides the two, I also love their family. They're really supportive especially Book Joo's father. He might not be sweet and frequently scolds her but he shows it through his actions. Joon Hyung's family also proves how much they love him despite the truth. And of course, we won't forget their friends who are ever so loving and supportive to them! They really gave so much fun to the show.

The coloring and cinematography are also fascinating. Just looking through the pictures will make your heart melt. I've been looking for a drama like Weightlifting Fairy but I guess it's really unique and stands out from the rest. I'm still hoping for the second season even though it seems impossible. In that case, can I just have another Nam Joo Hyuk and Lee Sung Kyung tandem pretty please?

This is the slice of life drama that all I ever need

Some may find thus drama boring as it doesn't that much surprises in the plot itself. But it's the characters for me. It may be lacking that oozing mindblowing plot twist but it has all the aspect that I was looking for for a character driven drama.

I couldn't love anyone else. Every characters are unique in their own ways and very much relatable. The first and second couple were so amazing. They were both unique in their own ways. Their relationship was also different from each other as they have different personalities but I think that's what makes it perfect. I admit that I love the second leads more because, I'm sooo in love with Soo Young her character and the love story between her and Tae Oh.

It greatly showed variety of people. Different kinds of people that has different personalities, choices, priorities and decisions that we don't often see in drama but are present in real life. I like how they portrayed Sun Gyeom's mother, she wasn't the typical mom that you will see in dramas. She priorities her career over her family most of the time, but that doesnt make me love her less since her decisions in life were justified. And I love that sweet development that she went through for the sake of her children in the end. I like that their father may be as bad as some other villains, but they showed a bit of his redemption in the end. An attempt to be better for his family.

One of the highlights for me, too, was how Dan-ah acknowledge her mistake of pretending to be gay just to avoid marriage. Which later on, she realized how hard it is really to be one. I like that she didn't look down on Yeong Hwa's bestfriend after knowing that he was gay.

There are so many things about this drama that I love and made my heart melt. But perhaps, it was the end that was the best for me. It was wrap up perfectly and sweetly. It wasn't happy ending indeed. Because it's not the end, but the end of that chapter in their life. Because those sequence of events that flashed shows that their life will continue.
