a m/m reality dating series with a goal/message
Overall: I think this improved on the first season (which was spread out over a few months). 20 episodes about 25 minutes each. Aired (free to watch) on GagaOOLala https://www.gagaoolala.com/en/videos/4786/boyscation-too-2024-e01 and YouTube https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLdXIknoSRTzuXCiH2eohX0CKbhki0h9Of&si=5uf86CF1tLF2qAxFNote: When watching "reality" series, I always keep in mind that producers might tell the guys what to do/say and that editing can be extremely misleading (not showing things, change the order, etc). This production/emcee appears more involved in Boyscation but that doesn't mean the other dating series productions weren't involved/manipulated things. My goals were that the guys have some fun and being on the show helped (or at least doesn't hurt them) in their personal and professional lives.
What I Liked
- the family/friends and message of the final episode
- that they followed the pairs that matched when they were back in Hong Kong (though it dragged on a bit too long)
- highlighted non profit organizations at the end of some episodes
- that on the first vote they could vote for up to 3 people & they showed a graphic of the vote givers/getters
- nametags in the beginning
- questions about their habits game was likely useful for the guys to think about compatibility
- released 5 episodes each week
Room For Improvement
- that the first game was touching people while being blindfolded
- the roommate choosing should not have been totally random
- that the mutual matches ate breakfast right in front of everyone
- some of the announcements of matches/who people liked/didn't like was a little too brutal

wished for a better plot for these great actors (watch suggestions)
Overall: SUKFILM does some things really well such as chemistry/tension. However, the love triangles/cheating bog the series down. Aired 8 episodes about 10 minutes each https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLYfaogVGCvwQ_32A8H9oWjdEtXVTWcrja&si=212BSBvITHARKx3G I am watched the cut version, the uncut has longer kissing scenes.Content Warning: dub con kissing turned consensual?, non con kiss, manipulation, unwanted public outing
Watch Suggestions (to avoid cheating. love triangles and an evil ex)
- watch episode 1 and end it at 9:55
- skip episode 2
- watch episode 3 beginning to 45s, 5:15-7:40, 9:35-end
- watch episode 4 beginning to 1m and 6:40-end
- stop episode 5 at 2 minutes
- skip episodes 6 & 7
- watch episode 8 7:40-end
What I Liked
- acting/chemistry/tension
- visuals
- sweet moment with the first aid
- music (except that the singing was too loud during scenes with dialog)
- a character actually had a decent plan in episode 8
Room For Improvement
- the cliched woman character (which I think has appeared in all 3 of their BLs)
- one character is kind of a jerk/cheater (this is also a running theme in their BLs)
- I can't really be happy with the couple because I don't trust that there won't be cheating in the future

slice of life with some angst
Overall: I thought it was a fairly well done slice of life short indie series but it could have used some improvements. Two parts, 27 minutes total. Aired on Mind Trio's YouTube channel https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLHWvrNIJL6cWsd5_gigdAGHlGQAC4UYCUContent Warning: punch
What I Liked
- a realistic confession and running away
- a few cute moments
- production value
Room For Improvement
- voice over exposition dumps
- flashbacks in such a short series
- at first I was confused that there were 3 characters, having a scene with all 3 of them would have been helpful before they had separate scenes
- timeline/how much time passed was confusing, also that extra scene at the end of the 2nd part, was that a flashback or did it take place after the series events?, because it doesn't seem like a lot of time passing and Time seems very fickle with his love
- the punch was not needed
- wish they had just focused it on 2 characters

mixed feelings
Overall: there were parts that I really liked and one aspect in particular that I really didn't. I initially watched for the side m/m couple (they meet in episode 2 and have a few minutes every episode). At times, this series has a bit of a soap opera feel. Watching on Viu with VPN set to Thailand. This is the episode 1 part 1 link https://www.viu.com/ott/th/th/vod/439286/My-Coach Watch past the credits of the final episode for wrap ups of the characters (Plueng and Yu are at the very very end).Content Warnings: past bullying, sexism, punches, manipulation, harassment, drugging, attempted sexual assault, non con kiss, past trauma, homophobia, transphobia, unwanted outing, blackmail, held against will, high school student/coach relationship, bribery
What I Liked
- discussion of issues: i.e. challenges of being a woman in a male dominated career, importance of having safe sex and carrying around condoms, sexual harassment, pursuing your dreams, about being your true self and deserving love and happiness
- the end of episode 14 brought tears to my eyes
- Plueng and Yu, I wish they had had more screen time
- nice to see a darker skinned character and I really liked their conversations with Yu
- the intro song
Room For Improvement
- how both the coach and assistant coach were ogling the bodies of their students (high schoolers) and the things that followed, this just reinforces negative stereotypes of women in male dominated careers

First Impression: Love in the Air Koi no Yokan
Overall: I liked the faster pacing, need to see how the chemistry develops. This is an adaptation of MAME's book which I haven't read (but believe she writes bodice ripper type books with the fictional mouth says no but body says yes). There was already a Thai adaptation. I will try to review the Japanese version based on its own merits. 10 episodes about 15 minutes each. Airing on GagaOOLala https://www.gagaoolala.com/en/videos/4928/love-in-the-air-2024-e01Content Warnings: non/dub con kissing/touching, manipulation
What I Liked
- fast pacing
- hair drying was cute
Room For Improvement
- starting in the present and then going to an extended flashback
- I smell a "plan"
- qr code that said Code
- (neutral) the hyper/over acting type character

Terrible Ending In My Room
Overall: I watched the first 3 and half episodes and the last episode (cut version). Very disappointed at the ending.Content Warnings: kind of attempted self harm/suicide - it's complicated, character death, horror, watching someone without their permission
What I Liked
- there was some stunning cinematography for example in the beginning with the light behind the characters, nice color scheming, music contributes to the mood
- the intro drawing/animation sequence
- the kiss in the final episode was well done
Room For Improvement
- in the cut version, there is zero explanation why Phob didn't turn into an evil ghost?!?
- Phob was too gutless to say goodbye to Phat (but then they did say goodbye, I have no idea why/how that came about)
- time skip and 50ish year old Phat says he married a woman but it didn't work out, he's dying of cancer and his mom died...then Phat and Phob reunite after Phat's death
- free version cuts out parts and it felt choppy in many places

First Impression: See Your Love
Overall: I'm excited to see where this romcom goes. 13 episodes about 25 minutes each. Airing on GagaOOLala (not Taiwan, Korea or Japan) https://www.gagaoolala.com/en/videos/4835/see-you-love-2024-e01 ; Viki https://www.viki.com/tv/40788c-see-your-love ; iQIYI https://www.iq.com/play/see-your-love-episode-1-dznrqstnns?lang=en_us ; WeTV https://wetv.vip/en/play/rigkbvj5a6vdcj1Content Warnings: discrimination, fight
What I Liked
- the lead characters and their dynamic
- supportive family & friend
- representation (I'm not an expert, however it felt realistic)
- comedy moments (subverted tropes, the parents and what they did in their home, though not sure the purpose unless it was just a prank)
Room For Improvement
- the end of episode 1 was confusing as it was a preview for episode 2 but didn't seem to be a preview
- comedy sound effects
- needlessly dramatic ending of episode 2, perhaps it was trying to be funny but then it didn't go far enough for me

adventures in sex & love
Overall: this is a sex positive series that focuses on the sex and love lives of 3 main characters. 10 episodes about 30 minutes each. Airing on GagagOOLala https://www.gagaoolala.com/en/videos/4915/the-nipple-talk-2024What I Like
- the friend group and how they support each other
- realistic scenarios
- MAMA* and the styling
- a character has a spine and knows what he wants/what his deal breakers are
- showing the difference between open relationships and cheating
- good foreshadowing with the flowers
- production value (especially enjoyed the music)
Room For Improvement
- not a fan of voice overs
- *I wish MAMA was actually the 4th main character and he had his own plot line instead of just an advisor and showing his brief steamy flashbacks
- (neutral) on the friend letting her go with him when she was extremely drunk

3rd Time Is Not The Charm
Overall: I debated even starting this because of the production company (google Motive Village controversy and you can learn about it). But I wanted to support the actors.Content Warnings: flashback to non/dub con sex (drunk)
What I Liked
- the Forth/Beam kiss was decent
- (neutral) animations
Room For Improvement
- the reboot (season 2 aka season 1 plus extra plot line) ended on a major cliffhanger so I expected this to pick up where it left off but instead we have 2 new characters as the leads with a totally different plot
- the 6 of them sitting around and re-creating their stories was an exposition dump
- there are 3 established couples that didn't really do anything and don't have chemistry/they don't feel like established couples, i.e. an established couple who had a dead fish lip press kiss
- two seemingly straight guys starting as rivals who will eventually fall into the 'gay for you' trope
- production value (odd camerawork, goofy background music that didn't fit)
- effeminate guys stereotyped as boy obsessed/shrill
- boring, they even put a flashback in 27 min to earlier in that same episode
- a stupid competition
- what a weird thing for a person in an established relationship to do when someone asks for his phone number
- no official international release

First Impression: Bad to Bed
Airing: the first episode of this indie mini series was fine. 10 episodes about 20 minutes each. Airing on JC Show YouTube Channel https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLalG2smk62xFJiyPLSsGxIW_4Znk24W_j&si=J4IbxX_npVilW4RfWhat I Liked
- acting
- visuals
- good music
- behind the scenes (though it was almost as long as the episodes)
Room For Improvement
- even after reading the synopsis, the premise is a bit fuzzy, the very long doctor appointment was odd

started strong (watch suggestions)
Overall: I was pleasantly surprised with the first few episodes and the tension/yearning; however, the relationship progression stalled and the 24 support characters including several love triangles had me confused/not interested in the side relationships. I have watched the original series adaption; I have not read the book. I'm trying to write this review based on the current series' merits. Airing uncut (~1 hour) on iQIYI https://www.iq.com/play/love-sick-2024-episode-1-1mki2ks9q5g?lang=en_us and cut (~45 min) on Tia51's YouTube channel https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLR99-9wCOObG0rFQTm5mqfiLeR0eyARyx&si=dU0m-CXh1LffpvC8Content Warnings: bullying, joking about attempting suicide, homophobia, fight, non con picture/video taking/sharing
Watch Suggestions (to center on the 2 leads/get rid of love rivals)
- watch all of episode 1
- episode 2 watch the beginning to 53:35
- episode 3 watch the beginning to 11:15, 28-50 and 54-end
- episode 4 watch 8-9 cameo, 25:30-27:30 and 38-45:45
- episode 5 watch 11:45-13:50, 26:15-28:35, 53-54 and 58:15-end
- episode 6 watch 17-19 and 37:50-42:30
- episode 7 watch 14:40-15:40, 39-40:30 and 56:30-58:10
What I Liked
- how the first episodes are focused on the 2 leads
- sweet/caring moments
- staring/tension/chemistry
- that Noh didn't do something in episode 3
- cameo in episode 4
- trans character isn't a comedic character
- production value
Room For Improvement
- the intro was beautiful but a bit confused about the context for it (they do explain it in later episodes, not a favorite way to start a series), then the 2 year time jump
- a ton of characters (says 24 support roles in addition to the 2 main characters) were introduced and I was fairly lost with everyone except the leads, just when I'd get into a side couple romance it would jump to other characters
- tension was great at the beginning but seemed to stall, there wasn't a good enough reason for me as to why the characters couldn't get together for so long
- a few fast cuts/scene jumps even in the uncut version
- (neutral) comedy sound effects
Cut Version Differences (it seems that the cut version removes some of the scenes with the female characters which I liked but it unfortunately removes some of the scenes between the male leads which I didn't like, likely will watch uncut moving forward)
- in episode 1 it doesn't have that first scene from 2 years ago which I liked because I found they looked older 2 years ago, in part 2 they cut out Noh trying to get thru the gate, in part 3 they cut out the sister entering the room and them jumping on the bed/fighting over the sheets, cut out a group scene with the girlfriends, end of part 3 they cut out a scene with Noh's family, towards end of part 4 they cut short phone call with friends and with some other guys moving chairs
- in episode 2 they cut a scene that interrupted their cuddle, but then they cut the head on the shoulder in the taxi, in part 2 they cut out a girlfriend scene and some of the evil mom stuff

First Impression: Our Youth
Overall: I need to see more of the tension/chemistry though I can feel pain coming. The series is based on a Korean webtoon "Our Youth" which I have not read and will review the series on its own merits. 11 episodes about 23 minutes each. Airing on GagaOOLala https://www.gagaoolala.com/en/videos/4914/our-youth-2024Content Warnings: child abuse, beaten up, alcoholism
What I Liked
- tension
- the feeding part/hurt care
- production value
Room For Improvement
- an ominous intro scene and then flashback to tell the story

First Impression: Perfect 10 Liners
Overall: appears to be a light romcom watch. 24 episodes about 45 minutes each.
What I Liked
- I did laugh a few times
- subverted tropes
- easy to understand premise
- nice to see a lot of GMMTV actors
Room For Improvement
- started with the present, then flashback
- (neutral) the comedy sound effects didn't make me laugh
- should have aired 2 episodes per week as this will last 6 months

a soap opera (side BL couple)
Overall: I saw this on a BL list and decided to watch it although it doesn't have English subtitles. I watched the first 2 episodes and the last episode. Unfortunately the sweet established m/m couple breaks up in the final episode (at least they both seem to move on/be happy) but that made me not want to go back and watch all of the episodes especially because I didn't understand most of what they were saying. Watched (not subtitled) on YouTube https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLh45VQur4AvofKLgui5nvD9m96BiIlu8VContent Warnings: murder/death, held against will, attempted kidnapping, intimate partner abuse, violence, blood (likely more)
M/M couple scenes (from episodes that I watched)
- episode 1 part 5 4:15-end
- episode 2 beginning-2 min
- (they broke up at the beginning of episode 32)
