As manga/mangwha adaptions, both works do a solid job in capturing the dark elements of their original works (without making the CGI look entirely ridiculous). Both stories deal with enemies (and main characters) that are neither entirely human nor monster. The cinematography is dark, violent, and on the gore-y side. Although Parasyte could probably have fleshed out its characters a bit more, both stories do well in exploring the main character's personal transformation from an average (tsundere) teenage boy into a heroic character. Also, not to be ignored, both movie and series have an impeccable OST!

Both movies touch upon topics like performance anxiety, bulling, and (unlikely) teenage friendships/relationships in high school. While Extracurricular is a more action-packed and dramatized story, Better Days provides a realistic and heartbreaking account of a victim of bullying. In both stories, parental figures remain largely absent and it is up to the teenagers to learn to survive the cruel education system (and life in general). Both the series and the movie do not shy away from difficult, dark (and maybe even taboo) social questions.

Although both movies have drastically different story lines, they both offer an interesting social commentary on gender in a patriarchal Korean society. Both movies have a (slight) feminist undertone as they zoom in on the female experience of daily life and the struggles that come with it. The theme of mental health functions as a red thread in both stories.

While Collectors is a movie that centers around a heist (rather than swindling per se) it is similar to The Swindlers in the sense that it is about a group of criminals who strive for a common goal: to get rich (and take revenge). This is your typical action-packed (yet fun) watch.

Both series are Japanese adaptions of the Sherlock franchise. Obviously, the genders are switched in these shows (Miss Sherlock features a female Sherlock and Watson) but both series use a case-by-case investigation set-up.

Both movies have this typical heist set-up. While Pipeline is a movie about an oil heist, the characters of Collectors attempt to steal important historical artifacts.
