Either your kind of drama or not

There was only one character I liked during the whole series: Song Lin.

Song Luo and Shen Di played a little part in the drama....I liked them, I hope they develop their friendship into something more in future.

It was 45 episodes long therefore there were a lot of side stories and a lot of issues that got extended some I felt repetitive. I had to skip parts I wasn't interested in. I don't think I missed a whole lot of the story even then. I wasn't too interested in that whole aspect of the show. All I was really interested in was the love story of Song Lin and Zhou Fang which started out with great chemistry but somewhere along the way I found Zhou Fang to be wishy washy.

Scenes where Song Lin (Johnny Huang) was in, I never found draggy though :-) His acting is just so natural regardless of what mood he was in. He was what made me finish the series.

Enjoyed it for the most part

Easy watch for the most part.

Horai Junnosuke - rich guy taking some "time off" to "play" before taking over the family business. I liked his character. He was sweet and all out with his feelings. He actually asks and listens when he doesn't know anything. He is calm and confident as well as jealous and possessive at the same time.

Nakazawa Ryota - ahhh Mamiya Shotaro, I look forward to a rom com when he finally gets the girl. SLS hurts LOL

Suzuki Nami - now this is my least favourite character of the whole show. I swear her being very clumsy, tactless and idiotic got on my nerves. The actress plays this role very well. it's very similar to her character in Koi wa Tsuzuku yo Doko Made mo. She got on my nerves in that show too!

All in all it was an enjoyable show. Just watch it in the mindset that it is a drama. Having two eye candies did help me stay with it til the end.

A Long Story

Random thoughts:

- Park Sae Ro Yi 's hairstyle never changed once from high school to 15 years after
- All characters at some point in the show were hateful
- .....except these two: Ma Hyun Yi and Choi Seung Kwon - my favourites
- Jo Yi Seo deserves Park Sae Ro Yi, she was fiercely loyal to him and stood by his side throughout
- I don't feel as sorry for Oh Soo Ah - her potential chef love interest is yummy LOL
- I wouldn't really call this a love story
- I wouldn't call it a food show either
- Revenge, revenge, revenge that turned people insane
- So when you sometimes watch a show and you wished that the characters would just please speak up and be honest to avoid misunderstanding, well this show has that - speaking their minds without filter
- The show gets draggy with extended flashback scenes, some dialogues feel repetitive from previous scenes. Towards the end, I didn't really care anymore, it felt like it would never end, I was just looking forward for the finish
- It has great OST

Light and Fun - good length

Was browsing through Amazon to find something to watch to fill my time before the weekend was over. Something light and fun and gave this one a try, I didn’t really have any expectations, it was just something to kill time. Before I even started I had thought that I might be dropping the show in the middle.

I ended up enjoying this show. It was a good length, about 25 mins per episode, a total of 12 episodes. It meant that problems weren’t dragged on for long. It fit what I was looking for – light and fun. The four girls’ friendship was really nice, they have different personalities but they were very supportive of each other.

Happy for the three couples. I think they are good together.

In a way, Mizuho does have her own happy ending.

Could have been fluffy but...

It would have been a nice fluffy drama, however the third party who just doesn’t get it dragged on for too long that it was sooo tiring and annoying to watch – I did a lot of fast forwarding during these parts.

At least there were no sacrificing myself break up scenes between Gu Chen Yu and Xia Xiao Ning, they talked to each other and their relationship was strong, they were actually sweet to watch. There were no opposed to the relationship in-laws.

Other than that not much that stands out. I really just stayed for Eden Zhao 

Nice, Light and Easy Watch

I was looking for something to binge watch over the weekend and this drama was it. It was a light easy watch. No over complicated plot. It was focused on the romance. While watching, there’d be times I’d tell myself, it only happens in dramas – that was exactly it! I wanted to be in that type of mood. I did not want to analyze the male lead’s behaviour. I did not want to analyze the female lead’s insecurities. I watched it for what it was – a rom com.

Likes:

Li Yanxin – possessive yes, but I did not really take that as a negative trait of his. He was loyal, protective and supportive. A little awkward maybe but he wasn’t wishy washy. He liked Qi Nian and that was that.

Qi Nian – it’s refreshing to see a female lead who speaks her mind and pursues her love interest.

Ji Si Qi and Lu Qing Wu – I knew that they were going to be couple but I couldn’t imagine how the development would be after watching the first few episodes. The development of Lu Qing Wu’s character from presenting her as a b**** to actually be a nice person was believable. Though I am glad that the story did not dwell on Ji Si Qi’s heartbreak, I found that him falling in love with Lu Qing Wu a bit fast as he hated her just a couple of episodes back.

Shao Zui and Ji Qiu – I felt like they were going to be a couple from the early episodes and then I started rooting for them and so glad that they got their kind of ending. They were actually cute.

Overall the drama had a simple plot and good characters, as I said what I was looking for to binge watch over the weekend.

Funny with drama mixed in

When a Chinese drama is more than 24 episodes long, I always have second thoughts about watching, anyways, I finally went for it.

So, what did I think, I think the drama is okay. There were parts that I didn’t like, skipped two full episodes. I don’t think I missed much as I was still able to follow the story.

I liked the first part of the series more. I liked Lu Fang Ning’s character more during first part. She was bossy and seemed like a bully but really had a soft heart. She was funnier here. Zhou Yu Tong really portrayed the character well. Simon Gong fit the role of Ling Rui – the quiet genius. I liked his character more on the second part though. He was more assertive.

Why do I keep saying first and second part of the series….well, after the two episodes that I did not care for and skipped, there was like a total switch of character behaviours. I think it would have been good if they continued the story from the first part and found an ending from there. Lu Fang Ning kept her character. Ling Rui becoming more like his character on the second part of the show.

Feel Good Watch

First of all super thrilled that Miles Wei is finally the lead and gets the girl! I have always liked him so I've always had second lead syndrome every time I watch his drama. Also happy that it's a feel good drama that I totally enjoyed :-) I purposely started watching on a Saturday so I can binge watch - finished it in two days! Despite hitting rewind several times LOL. Sinian just so cute, adorkable and sweet :-)

Likes:
- Miles Wei :-)
- I liked Sinian Zhang's character. He wasn't mean. He was straightforward, respectful and I liked how he stood up for his love.
- No stupid misunderstandings that extends several episodes.
- The contractual relationship was out in the open at the very beginning so there was no annoying-break up-in the middle-of-a-finally-good-relationship plot
- No evil love triangle characters
- Yun Shu choosing family over career. So glad that there was no "one year later" plot - I always find these so unrealistic.
- I also really liked that Lin Nuo finally stood up for himself and made Gao Zhi Yi go after him

Dislikes:
- None that particularly comes to mind and worth writing about.....

Likes:
- Au Rui Peng as in the actor (not his character in this drama), I just find him cute with his facial expressions and gestures. To be honest, watching him was what made me finish the drama. Will watch out upcoming dramas from him.

Dislikes:
- Break up with you for your own good plot - uuuurgh this frustrates me in every drama - skipped the episodes for this part
- Why? really why? is it always a common scene - touching stuff that you obviously are not supposed to touch and then make trouble cause you break something

Take away the dislikes, this was a decent watch. There were cute interactions between Shi Meng and Fang Yan, much better in the latter parts of the show. I'm so glad that Shi Yi wasn't a super villain. Not much to say about the rest of the story really.....

Rom Com with a Touch of Drama

I liked Lu Jin throughout the series from beginning to end. He never wavered in his love, he was composed even the way he handled the conflicts. I think I liked Lu Jin more too because of Li Yu Shen's portrayal of him. The little gestures and expressions made it all work with his character.

I found Gu Sheng Nan for the most part too immature. Don't know if she's too nice , naive or just plain not have some common sense. I felt that she took Lu Jin's love for her for granted. Maybe Lu Jin just was too mature for her.

Whenever the two of them would have some sort of misunderstanding - I think it really is when Sheng Nan is in her not so intelligent state of mind - he would usually be the one to say he is at fault. So I actually liked the part wherein he finally got mad and did not talk to her. But he still did it in such a dignified way.

Other mentionable characters:

Uncle Gao = as the series went I liked his character more and more. He put sense into Gu Sheng Nan.

Lu Zheng = he was the evil character not by choice cause he was really likeable when he first showed up. I'm glad it all worked out for him and did not remain evil.

All in all it was a good drama.

Keeps you guessing

This drama kept me guessing whodunit right to the last 20 mins of the last episode. I'm not going to say much more you'd have to watch it and you'll know what I mean, though right to the end I wasn't quite sure if the story was how I understood it to be so I made a conclusion myself :-)

The slight romance was very nicely developed so that it didn't take away the mystery of the story. There wasn't any big confession they knew they liked each other and acted it and along the way they just became a couple.

All the actors did really well in their roles, the changes in personality etc..all in all a good drama to watch. I also liked that it wrapped up in 20 episodes.

Great Watch

I liked this drama a lot. The story was light and flowed smoothly. What really worked for me was that all the characters were likeable. Misunderstandings weren't dragged on but talked through, they actually communicated and were reasonable.

One of the major points in this story is the age gap between Cheng Li and Ling Xun Xun. Yes, there is that age gap but their relationship has a nice balance to it. Even though Cheng Li is younger, he is more mature than Ling Xun Xun in some ways. I like his character, he is very confident of his love and not afraid to show it. He does play the innocent childish card in a cute way to get what he wants. Ling Xun Xun though divorced and has a child still has that naivte that Cheng Li makes up for, however, also has the maturity that Cheng Li needs. Can't explain it well - I recommend just watch the drama! :-)

Liu Te seems to be a new actor. I liked him in this drama. He is very natural. I look forward to more dramas from him.

Jiang Me Jie's acting was good. Not too over the top clumsy or playing innocent like some female leads that I have watched.

Side characters have their own stories that blended well with the overall drama.

This must be an ongoing manga meaning the drama probably ended in the middle of the manga.

Anyways....

Male Lead - good looking, sweet, devoted and dedicated though not sure these are all positives in his character. I like that he is honest with his feelings, he is truly proud of his girlfriend. Straightforward, no pretending that he doesn't know that the other girl likes him and tells her straight out that he is in love with this girlfriend.

Female Lead - annoying dedicated to her job that she comes off as being insensitive, there is no balance at all. She just drops Richii whenever she gets a call from work (and he is also soooo annoyingly understanding!) I mean really she reads his messages but does not even acknowledge them. Yes she is sweet when she finds the time for him.

One thing that this drama was good for, there were no misunderstandings - if they are jealous they say so!

This was a short drama good for watching during my lunch breaks, since you don't really need to concentrate on the story too much.

My favourite characters:
Wei Qing - straighforward, sweet, nice smile, expressive
Ning Fei/Xun Ran - adorable but manly at the same time

Not so favourite character:
Zhou Shi - so wishy washy, can't understand what's going on in her head, find her ditzy

Most hated character:
Wei Qing's mother - super selfish

I enjoyed this drama, light, sweet, no unnecessary prolonged misunderstandings which is a big plus to me. The villains didn't really get anything their way. It didn't dwell too much on the business side of things.

Good rom com watch :-)

This show was seriously tiring! There were obstacles in every episode, no matter how hard the teams work together there will always be this villain who does something and all that they've worked for just comes to nothing in an instant. Ok that's fine heroes don't always necessarily have to win, but come on this went on until towards the end of the show. i wished they didn't have to put so many of these I think it would have been more enjoyable.

So what did I like about the show? The intro music was good, there were cute moments between the two leads (when they didn't have issues), the ending made up for all the loses they went through. How I finished the show - lots of fast forwarding and cast was good.
