I am getting vibes of Jeremy Tsui’s characterization of the ML in The Autumn Ballad. Both MLs appear to be ruthless and power hungry but they are actually working to enact revenge. They protect the FL but seemingly unwillingly. The interaction between leads are similar. The FL is smart in both dramas but masks her intellect due to family upbringing and her role within.

Same type of energy and chemistry between the leads. In both dramas both leads are smart and have deductive reasoning and work together to resolve problems.
They have a bickering type relationship and the FL is engaged to someone else and becomes a social pariah while ML is affiliated with officers etc.

Both these dramas have same feel and treatment of female characters as equals in the context of a historical. Given the time period, the romantic relationship giving proper agency to both partners and their interests is refreshing. Big dramas are also witty in delivery and excellent chemistry and repartee between the main couple Endings make sense given the nature is the characters.
