Definitely Worth Watching

Graceful/Elegant Family was a beautifully structured and sophisticated k drama that is absolutely watching. It moves a t a steady pace and portrays a great relationships between the leads. I would only critique the seemingly sudden romance. Other than that, the cons I could point out where a couple of situations in which the solutions seemed to appear out of thin air and solve all the problems the leads faced. But these issues were very minor and were completely overshadowed by the great teamwork of the leads, their hard work, the beautifully written villains, and other aspects. Overall, I would highly recommend it. Anyone who especially likes law and thrillers will definitely enjoy this. Add a splash of crime and it's all set. The drama is perfect for mature audiences who don't like fluffy romances or cheesy and childish content. It is one of my favourite k dramas.

Ma Yi Deum is a goddess

The plot was pretty likeable. The antagonists were too cliche. There were just corrupt mayors and officials with rapists all over the place. I understand that the leads worked in the sex crimes unit. But i wish they showed a slightly different motivations. The cliche and overused memory loss plot is found here too. Such cliches are what threw me off. But Ma Yi Deum saved the show for me. She was a beautifully written and executed character. She had her flaws. But the only made her more perfect. I loved the male lead except for one cliche. Male leads just happen to develop fighting skills out of nowhere and it absolutely baffles me. In most situations the female lead is covering behind something but in this drama she was a physically and emotionally strong character who didn't do that. Ths drama is worth watching only because of Ma Yi deum and I'm glad I completed the drama. It was pretty much worth watching. I would recommend it to most people if they can ignore the cliches and plot holes.

Strong Woman Do Bong Soon is my favorite drama and I wasn't sure how it got such low ratings when I first signed into MyDramalist. I realized that many people thought the funny scenes were too stupid or cringey, but honestly I think I may have a super weird sense of humor cuz I found them absolutely hilarious. ALSO FOR THOSE WHO HATED ON BONG SOON'S MUM FOR HER ABUSE SHOULD KNOW THAT SUCH ACTIONS HAVE BEEN TOTALLY NORMALIZED IN MANY ASIAN COUNTRIES (THOUGH I AM AGAINST IT). THEY WRITERS PROBABLY DECIDED TO REVERSE GENDER ROLES FOR DOMESTIC ABUSE. Some people actually found it funny but I considered it a serious problem. In the end when they showed her concern for her husband though they fought, I was happy they made up. Like the typical Asian parent or spouse, she started behaving sweetly towards him as a sign of an apology instead of directly apologizing. So if anybody didn't like these happenings, then know that it is cultural difference and nothing else. I thought that the way they combined so many genres was super refreshing and the transition from one genre to another was pretty smooth and refreshing. I loved Min hyuk's and Bong soon's characters and acting was also up to the mark. I didn't find any serious flaws with the story except a few unrealistic scenes. The story is cliche but the comedy made up for it in my opinion.

I found weightlifting fairy to be a very lighthearted and fun-filled story. It had its share of moments that were very thoughtful and moved the viewers. The lack of particularly evil characters is a gigantic plus point for this drama. It avoids several cliches and shows the good relationships between people, their families and friends. The story lacks a major antagonist and beautifully displayed the struggles of athletes before they are exposed to fame. I was however disappointed with Lee sung Kyung being cast as bok joo. She doesn't have the figure of a weightlifter. This shows how even if the role demands a person who is not thin, a moderate sized actress with good arm strength could not be cast as bok joo. This goes back to the demands of a woman's figure by the industry even if the role demands the exact opposite. There were a few overdramatic scenes that I didn't like by a side characters (Nan hee). One of the crying scenes was also cringey as it sounded like a toddler screaming to me. But overall it was a good drama if the overdramatic bits were ignored as the story teaches us a lot. But the moral values depicted here can be interpreted in a sexist way too. This story shows us how weightlifters can express their feminity regardless of pursuing sports but it also in a way suggests that all girls care about the way they look and it should be expected of them if thry are really girls. ALSO FOR THOSE PEOPLE WHO HATED THE DRAMA SINCE THE CHARACTERS ATE A LOT AND THE PARENTS WERE ABUSIVE, PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS SUPER COMMON. ASIAN PARENTS OFTEN USE CORPORAL PUNISHMENT AND IT IS CONSIDERED A NORMAL WAY TO DISCIPLINE A CHILD AND IS ALSO A SIGN THAT PARENTS LOVE THEIR CHILD (I AM AGAINST IT BUT THIS IS A TOTALLY TRUE SITUATION). IT IS ALSO NORMAL TO EAT SO MUCH FOOD. EATING 3 PLATES LIKE HER, WOULD MAKE A PERSON HAVE A DECENTLY ABOVE AVERAGE DIET IN MANY ASIAN COUNTRIES.

I started this drama without great expectation from the plot as I am not the type of person who enjoys revenge stories. I started watching this only because of Park Seo Joon. The story started off great. I respected Sae Ro Yi's character though he didn't have much development. I know the whole story cuz I read up the summary. I detested the main female lead's character. There is a thin line between being badass and being a hypocrite and in my opinion, Jo Yiseo was leaning towards the latter side. An instance is when she tore up the DanBam poster that Sae Ro Yi gave her. It didn't have a particular reason and to me felt just like a forced action to make her seem badass and cool. Such instances were there all over the story. I didn't like the second female lead either. She seemed too self centered and said she would date Sae Ro Yi only after he became rich. Jo Yiseo also seemed too immature and whiny to have a strong bond with Sae Ro Yi. He was mature though slightly naive. So if the romance was removed I would have liked this a whole lot better. I also felt that one second Yiseo tears up Sae Ro Yi's poster and falls in love with him the next second. The romance was confusing and messy which overshadowed the revenge plot. The OSTs acting and everything else was pretty good in my opinion.

I had great expectations for this drama like everyone else and was naturally put off by a lot of details. The plot was one of the major put-offs in my opinion. Majority of the characters were also one dimensional, especially Ah Ro. She seemed like a strong and likeable female lead in the beginning but turned into the typical damsel in distress. Ah Ro ending up with Sun Woo was a also a huge disappointment to me as I loved their love and care for each other as siblings. I really wanted Ah Ro to end up with Ji Dwi. I felt that they had a better chemistry as well. Two people who develop into sibling figures for each other who later discover they are not biological siblings and fall in love totally get on my nerves as I hate that concept itself. I couldn't bear to watch past the 11th episode when Ah Ro and Sun Woo confessed to each other. Sun Woo's regular fainting was also never explained. I read a summary of the entire story and so I know the plot and how it ends. There is no way I will be finishing this series.

Screw you, second main lead syndrome!!!!!

The only reason I dropped this drama was

Yup that's right

SECOND MAIN LEAD SYNDROME

I figured that the person I rooted for wasn't the lead. It ruined the entire drama for me. But anyone who likes slow paced dramas about family, friends and a quiet type of drama will enjoy this. It makes people cry and its a beautiful portrayal. It captures the aesthetic of the 80s very well. My parents who are from that era absolutely loved it. It's nice to know that the 80s worked the same way even in our country. It was very nostalgic and well-executed. I can't really complain though. This series is based on a true story. So I can't really change the ending because that's what actually happened. I'm the kind of person that doesn't enjoy excessive second lead syndrome. It makes the drama sad and sentimental for most people but it ends up annoying me a lot on most occasions which just makes me drop the drama in the end.

The drama was too slow and boring for me. I found the female lead making a huge change in her life just to help her sports star a little ridiculous and stupid. The whole drama was boring stereotypical and humourless to me. It seemed too overdramatic and overboard with everything. I would recommend it to people who don't mind the stereotypical cold male lead and other such stereotypes. The boys in the school were super generalized and everyone seemed like the same "rowdy" type of person. The drama has also disappointed most people who came here after reading the manga. I didn't like it despite not reading the manga. In my opinion it is just the worst collection of stereotypes put together in 1 drama.

This a very slow paced drama. And by slow paced, I mean, extremely slow paced! This drama is not for everyone. It seemed too boring for me cuz I prefer fast paced dramas with numerous plot twists. But they gave a lot of awareness about the beauty standards that were in effect and how it impacted people's lives. I also felt that males were highly villainized in this story as no males except the male main lead had a genuinely nice character. The rest of it was great but it's unfortunately not my kind of drama.

Don't Let the High Ratings Fool You. THIS DRAMA IS DESERVES HIGHER.

Hands down, Hotel Del Luna is one of the best k dramas. I have ever watched. The leads had excellent chemistry and always stood by each other. The plot was well executed. I have only praise for this drama. I love how everything is not explained in too much detail. If everything is set in stone it seems like an info dump to me. So I adored how the writer left some things open ended and give us hints to fit the pieces together ourselves. I'm very intellectual and thought-oriented which made this very engaging for me. The plot was very unique and had well planned and timed flashbacks. I can't say enough about the OSTs. They are the most beautiful things ever. I could listen to the tracks forever. Crime and thrillers were neatly integrated into the already multi-dimensional plot. Don't believe anyone who says that Hotel Del Luna has a sad ending. Like I said, it's for the audience to form their own conclusions. Overall, its the best. The ratings reflect exactly how good this drama actually is. Infact, I could even call this drama underrated for that is how good it is.

Honestly IDK how this got such bad reviews

Abyss was absolutely beautiful and well integrated in my opinion. I hated the implications of beauty the whole thing had. But otherwise the crime, supernatural activity and romance was well integrated. I understand the criticism that there wasn't much explanation about the abyss itself. But IMO since it was just bestowed on Cha Min, they are themselves slowly discovering things about the marble. It was understandable to me that the story ended without too much being revealed about it as it was unnecessary and did not contribute to the story as a whole. I loved the crime aspect of it. The second villain did not have good enough motivations in my opinion. But the first villain was iconic and well written. The series kept my interest high and kept me on the tip of my feet. I wouldn't recommend it to most people. If it seems to be your type from this, then go for it.
