Since it's 'cosmetology high', naturally the dramas' creativity revolves around it and morals are told along with it too. It's like a magic drama series, but the magic is quite unique. Its bitterness and tragedies would make you tear up, if you are lucky enough to have continued the series. Morals about beauty and ugliness are present in it, and it's so unpredictable that you would find yourself caught off guard many times. It has fanservice too, it's of such a high quality that people view it as a serious, big budget historical drama.
None of its jokes are cheap, and it's actually more like a melodrama than a romantic comedy. 90 percent of the humor comes only from the main leads' conversations; humour and serious scenes are very balanced. This is a fresh, unique show that I highly recommend.

This is sad loving yet very good story. I mean at first I thought main male lead was just so snobby and bad until................... no spoilers. Do everything to watch this hahaha. This is such a cool story with many genres tied together. There is love and romance which is really cute:) the couples chemistry was great and the ending was so heart warming. Sorry for not making this a huge review like many others.

To begin with the storyline was very good overall, I loved the characters, especially He Lanjun’s personality. His sarcasm and his and the fact he’s really bold really makes the cherry on top to this whole show. I love the scene when he see Pei Yuntian and they are enemies yet they are very very sarcastic around each other. Su Lianyi on the other hand was kinda like she was gluing herself to the male lead and I didn’t really like that.I also love how this show revolves on around mini stories. When it started with princess Yong Ning’s problem to The Yun family, to Tai Ping, and competition with another state/country on makeup and beauty. It makes the show a bit more interesting to watch.
Why it wasn’t 10/10:
The ending was that good, although it was sort of like a last episode thing where a bunch of things happen right before the final episode and you don’t know if all problems will get solved on the last episode making it look like there might be a season 2. I hated the fact I didn’t get to see them get married tho.

Disapointed (◎_◎;)
I was looking for a fun and light comedy, but this series, with its very exaggerated comedy tone, is unbearable. The actors are good, they do what they can to embody their characters BUT the narration never allows you to take the story seriously.Even if we leave “your brain at the door”, we cannot subscribe to this story!

Je cherchais une comédie fun et légère, mais cette série au ton Comédie très exagéré, est insupportable. Les acteurs sont bons, ils font ce qu'ils peuvent pour incarner leur personnage MAIS la narration ne permet jamais de prendre l'histoire au sérieux.
Même en laissant "your brain at the door", on ne peut pas adhérer à ce récit !
