Both are the same story about a mentally disabled man who is made smarter through modern technology.

In both "Ataru" and "Algernon Ni Hanataba O" there is a 'disability' similarity that I think other viewers may find interesting. Also, the main actors/characters in each drama are not only actors they are also both in the 'idol' industry; singing, dancing, concerts, acting, etc...

Both shows feature a disabled man . Although different , they are both heartwarming and full of life lessons .

-Both have male leads with (possible) mental problems/ naive /childish behavior
-Both male leads are flower deliverers
MUB is much sweeter and has much more comedy in fluff in it.

These are two and probably unique Japanese dramas with such emotional intensity and with every episode completely fulfilled. Also the plots are the best I've ever seen in an Asian drama, probably because in 1 Litre no Namida we can see a real and touching story and Algernon is an adaptation of a wonderful book by Daniel Keyes.

Both movies are the same story; a learning disabled man faces some prejudice from his co-workers and mother. He is then given the opportunity to become smarter through an operation.
Algernon Ni Hanataba O has more of a romantic focus, and the main character's transformation from dumb to smart is much more dramatic, while Algernon Ni Hanatabo Wo spends more time showing the main character's struggle while he is learning disabled.

Both dramas focus on the difficulties an intellectually disabled young man must face when abandoned by his family. Algernon Ni Hanataba O focuses more on romance and teaching life lessons to its characters, while Seija No Koushin is much more gritty in its portrayal of society's discrimination against disabled people.

These were like hand-in-hand productions. They are so similar that the ending is kinda obvious though..
