Both have similar plots just in DN, its a guy who gets hold the death note and uses it to punish criminals. As you can see its much darker than SR. In sweet revenge, main girl receives a not that gets revenge on the person's name written in it.

I feel like the main lead's characters are quite similar..also the plot for both series has similar themes as well..sudden death, the desire to gain power, manipulation of others, narcissism, naive women, etc.

Both main characters kill people in the name of justice believing they are righteous, and are in a cat & mouse chase with detectives. Vigilante has more action but death note has more of the detective work.

In both dramas two very intelligent people chase eachother and you don't know who'll win at the end, there are also two death note movies which are as good as the drama and having watched the drama and the movies I can say that the plot never gets boring even if you know what'll happend because there are quite some changes.

Writing things in a notebook and becoming reality is happening in both dramas.
Also, SF characters are in both of them.

- Involves "notorious serial killer"
- Emergence of new gruesome serial killer
- Genius detective
- Filled with psychological and philosophical questions about psychopaths
- Keeps you on the edge of your seat
- Dark and twisted
- Literally cat and "mouse" between the killer and the detectives
- Plot twists!! (not as many as Mouse tho)

will you kill a murderer? for justice, power, money, does it justify another murder

that's basically the main plotline in both stories, do criminals deserve protection

A Gift to the People You Hate has a principal theme of hate and revenge. This theme is reinforced by the gift shop whose owner is offering gifts of different levels to those who wish ill to the person they hate - the most extreme of which is death. This mechanism of wishing death is also reflected in Death Note by writing the name of the person in the notebook. Both also have a character that is a "girl idol".

Both are psychological and make you think outside the box while in a life or death situation.
Both have a male lead that can solve the crime (L and number 5).
Both have life as a tool and not as something given. Kira plays with people's lives while the 12 teens that are in "12 suicidal children" want to give their lives away.
