Je Man goes to Alaska to begin a new life. At a fish market, he meets someone from his past, a Korean woman, Chae Won. This is the trigger for a journey back in time. It starts when Je Man is a young, new teacher at the same high school where Chae Won is a student. She falls in love with Je Man. It is the innocent love of a student for her young handsome teacher. The community sees it otherwise and condemns their relationship and in doing so makes life hell for them both. Chae Won leaves her village eventually marrying an American soldier and going to America. What is the meaning of this chance meeting? Does their past love have any relevance in Alaska?
