Ah the Classic Heartstrings

So I actually watched this drama when I was in middle school back in 2014. I found this drama after finding out the leads were from the drama You're Beautiful!

Story- Back in 2014, I would have said it was my favorite drama then. However, now as I am writing this review, I have been watching Korean dramas for about 7 years and honestly, this is not the best drama if you look at it from a critical perspective. It is a cute light-hearted college romance drama. The beginning may seem slow cause the plot ends up doing this one-sided love for a bit since Lee Shin likes the teacher in the start, but he comes around. Lee Shin is like the cold/tsundere main lead, and Kyu Lee Won is the happy/optimistic girl, so of course, opposites attract and they get together. It was interesting though getting to see the battle of the bands between traditional Korean instruments Vs modern instruments. I also liked the school where they filmed most of the drama as well.

Acting - The acting was pretty average I think, nothing too extraordinary. Maybe Yongwha could have been a bit more expressive but I also understand his character is supposed to be cold anyway. I had a major crush on Jung Yong Wha back then so I stuck with this drama. I didn't like the kiss scenes, but to be honest, I do not like Park Shin Hye's kiss scenes in general so that's just me lol. I also actually liked Kang Minhyuk's character a lot and he was so precious.

Music - the ORIGINAL SOUNDTRACK for this drama is GOLD, it's a whole bop. So even though the drama plot is meh, getting to hear the great music played throughout the drama made me stay. I loved the OST so much that in middle school I bought the soundtrack from iTunes and it's still catchy today. The OST really saved the drama overall.

Rewatch value - I have probably rewatched it 3-4 times, but I mostly rewatch it for the nostalgia factor. It takes me back to my middle school days, and a feel all giddy/excited re-watching it haha. However, I think many people who may watch it, it's like a one-and-done watch. I have a personal attachment with this drama, so even though the plot isn't anything remarkable, I will still put it in my top favorites.

Honestly, if you want a nostalgic, light-hearted romance, music kdrama binge, I would give it a try! It came out in 2011, so just keep in mind some of it might seem a bit outdated or cringe haha.

I have to say I really enjoyed this drama. I've been trying to watch older dramas and since I really liked Jung Yonghwa in You're Beautiful I decided to watch this show. I was very apprehensive because Park Shin Hye isn't my favorite actress. I actually had a bad experience with her in You're Beautiful. However, I think she fits the female lead's character so well that I'm starting to change my mind a bit about her! I really liked the main couple's chemistry all throughout the drama, except for the last episode. I think their last (well, the one before the last) wasn't that well acted. The last episode was very rushed in general... Thankfully the rest of the show was consistent and made justice to the characters.
I looooved the second couple! Jung YoonSoo is so so so so beautiful that I couldn't take my eyes off her! The Director was a big douchebag, in my opinion, but he did redeem himself later on. Both actors did a great job.
I also really loved all the secondary characters and I wish we had more scenes with them. Sarang is iconic.
The music was great but it got too repetitive. Poor Shin, always performing the same songs over and over...
Overall, a pleasant surprise and loveable characters that turned a simple plot into something special.

CAPTIVATING CHEMISTRY

I just finished watching the series Heartstrings. I absolutely loved the chemistry between Park Shin Hye and Jung Yong Hwa. All of the songs were great, and the series was full of entertainment. Almost all the actors and actresses delivered great performances. I really enjoyed it. Park Shin Hye and Jung Yong Hwa had acted together before in the drama You're Beautiful. Although they weren't a couple in that series, I still wanted them to end up together. So, I was thrilled and excited while watching Heartstrings.

This is one of the popular dramas before but came out as boring for me. One positive thing about this drama is the OST. I find it inviting and easy to listen to. Park Shin Hye did great here for me. Usually this is the usual roles I find Shin Hye playing/acting and I believe it is a perfect fit for her. On the other hand, Yong Hwa is not not that good in acting here - maybe because he is not an actor per se but an idol/singer. I did find the improvement in his acting in the latter parts of the drama. I liked the first parts of the drama, especially the competition between the classical string instruments and the band thing but as the story goes it came out as dragging for me and came too serious which was not in the premise.

My bae, park shin hye, she has grown on me too much, i must admit XD
I do love her as an actress, she is so versatile and talented, one of the best Korean actresses that really show how talented they really are, every single time they go on screen. She amazes me with every new role she plays and she does it so well!

This drama was very funny and light, a true romantic musical comedy so to speak.
The different musical aspects of the show are great, i loved it and they do go all the way to portray their characters really well, to sing and to play the instruments too so it was very pleasing to me since i’m a music lover myself and a singer :D

The main couple had great chemistry and they grow so much together as they explore the hardships of becoming young adults and find true love, while trying to chase their dreams in the music field and in life for their future.

It was a really charming drama for me, i enjoyed every minute of it. the dinamic of the musical aspect mixed with the romantic comedy suited this story really well and they acted it on point.

i loved it and recomend it! Go watch this at least once :P

The first 6 episodes are slow and a little boring and the sparkle between the main actors is very little, yet there is something special about it, I mean, mostly in romantic dramas love is so perfect it seems out of this world and unreal, but in 'Heartstrings' it's more simple. In this world there are guys like Lee Shin, in relationships with that kind it's not so emotional and full with sweet stuff. Music is awesome, but this drama is far from being perfect, I wouldn't watch it twice, because the story's very ordinary.

The most I like drama !
The most I like drama! because his players seem genuine in acting. I hope the real world they park shin hye and jung yong hwa really become lovers matching.
but the episode in this drama too little, I look forward to seeing scenes longer park shin hye and jung yong hwa in this drama, they looked like a couple very fit, maybe that reached 20 episodes the story would be perfect.
but as far as I value, this drama drama romance I like the most.

This drama was really refreshing and amusing.I think the combination of music was daebak and even till now the songs are stuck in my mind. Love triangles and amazing background. Each character has a unique storyline, which makes it even more interesting to watch. I would surely recommend.
( Plus; Park Shinhye's expressions never fail to get me )

I watched because of Park Shin Hye, not so much of Yong Hwa. He is good looking but his acting skill is a bit low rate. Even in You are Beautiful, he was only so so in his role, luckily Shin role is supposed to be cool and reserved. But in Heartstring, he need to be more emotional, playful and a little arrogant character. He cant bring that out. Poor PSH,no doubt she is good but her main lead spoilt it for her. Sad to say, I will rate it ordinary, as I actually skip to watch the final just for the sake of finishing the whole episode. Its a total bored drama.

ok the main reason i wanted to watch this was for the music. i love music dramas and this gives you a hand full of it.However, i knew that this was a romance drama, and i also knew the usually Korean dramas take a long time to start.By the 5th episode (usually) you finally get into the romance, but this was a bit to much. By the time the music drama finally transitioned to a music/romance drama i was forcing myself forward and searching online for a new drama. of course once you get passed the waiting period ( which i cant emphasize enough how long it took for the romance to start)its actually pretty good. However the way the romance starts is a bit cheesy, and it was a bit predictable.

The only good thing about this drama is the music the rest it's kinda childish!!
Can't really feel the romance every thing is very fast without reasons there' love and there's breakup!!
Can't see why others gave it 10 overall and in the story 10 also how come?!! where is the story that deserves that full mark?!
if you like music dramas then you might enjoy it....anyway not one of my favorites.
