At first I was rather bored by this show and irritated by Kim Go Eun's character, however as it progressed I really came to enjoy it and watch it every day. The story at the start and especially how Park Hae Jin's feelings for Kim Go Eun changed for me was quite bizarre and how the change happened not fully understood. Perhaps he had feelinggs all along? but initially twisted, unable to relate to or trust people normally? The conclusion as is often the case in these dramas annoyingly used the fairy wand time-shift device and was nice and neat but not very credible in some respects. However for me a very watchable drama. I liked Seo Kang Joon the best. Lee Sung Kyung provided some comic moments but with some not-so-comic flaws in her character [well-acted I think]. Park Hae Jin's. character was interesting and I liked the development from the aloof, calculating persona [whichPark Hae Jin plays very well] to his character at the end. Kim Go Eun was sweet, but one of those characters I feel like shaking into life, to react instead of letting things happen to her. It seems everything happened around her with her passively at the centre. She played that character well if that is what it was supposed to be. I also liked the supports. Really good drama once it took off from the slow start. May rewatch again but not soon.

This is my first review so sorry if it´s not that good
This drama I had been postponing it because I had already seen the movie and I did not have a great experience with it, so I was not sure that I would like it.

But I decided to start seeing it without any expectations and surprisingly I liked it, the story is good, not incredible but good.
Although I had some problems with the drama because of how it is built and the characters.

As for Yoo Jung everything related to him seemed boring, sincerely for me he was not the male lead of the drama. As for Hong Seol, seemed to me as a weak and foolish character since although she already knew and had seen some bad traits of Yoo Jung even so she decided to be with him. I think that their relationship is toxic, but what can we do?

In Ho is the best character that was in this drama and nobody can deny it. During history we could only see how he improved himself. At first I wanted In Ho and Hong Seol to be together because she deserved someone better than Yoo Jung but after a few episodes I didn't want them to be together because now I believed that In Ho deserves someone even better than Heong Seol. I loved too much In Ho from his cute moments till when he made me suffer with him for his past.

As to In Ha I had an love-hate relationship with her because sometimes it seemed something immature and irritating but at the same time I understood her way of acting because of everything she had lived and suffered. I also found her very funny in some moments.

Overall I think is a good drama and should try it ir you like problems of a rich family with a sociopath son. lol

Well, this is the second k-drama that i have watched after MLFTS, based on my friend's recommendation.

I like the story and it's quite real about what can happen in life and who we might meet along the way, and it's based on the comic, so it exactly will follow the manhwa. So i don't have any comments about the drama because it follows the manhwa.

Now, I will talk about the story (based on the author), I am just sad for Yoo Jung, he gets that kind of treatment and he tried to defend himself but everyone is like getting on his nerve. He doesn't deserve to be called psycho, i feel that the rest of his friends / teachers are too much and very annoying. He doesn't need to be blamed for bad things that happen. I feel that hong seol should be more supportive of yoo jung, well it does not mean that if u love someone, u allowed those things that he does, but u need to be supportive. Not blaming him obviously.

I feel disgusted with the teacher who stole his credit card but feels like he is entitled to steal, i feel sick of baek in ha who is so spoiled and keep asking for the money and feel sick of all his friends (loser assholes) who likes to suck on smart people like hong seol and yoo jung. Baek in ho is better but because of misunderstanding, they separated sigh.. but he needs to stop pitying himself and stop putting the blame on yoo jung, he is a young adult for God's sake, sigh, such a weak guy.

Anyway, none of those things i mentioned are the fault of the drama's writer, the original story is already like that. But of course it's still a good drama, the acting is also good. It's worth watching just that the ending is not clear, but i believe that the ending is happy one coz they need to solve problems within themselves, even though i still don't agree that yoo jung needs to suppress himself to feel better, i think it will get worse, he just needs to accept him for he is and stop the dad to always judge him that he is a psycho.

I believe if he did not need to be nice to all people (his dad always asked him to be nice since he was a kid, gosh), i think he will be normal. He can be angry and confront people directly, don't need to pretend to be kind but very manipulative behind. If he can accept himself, his emotion, his anger, just like inside out movie, he can be normal, he just has that communication issue, he cannot communicate his feelings well to others so he suppressed his feelings inside and it's eating him.

He express it through action instead, action that is done by others because he can manipulate other people well, he is a smart boy. He doesn't want to let his father down, so he manipulate other to do the deed while he still pretend that he is a nice guy. He has his own way of doing things, i don't blame him, if i were him, i will become like him too since all the people around him are disgusting.

Hahahaha anyway, oh well, just watch it yourself and see whether what i said is true. Thanks.

1. This is one of those that feels packaged in a pretty thoroughly misleading way. To me, it’s sold as being lighthearted, campy and fun. And while it is certainly fun and entertaining, it has a complicated, multi-layered cast of characters that shocked and delighted me. I’m not going to say it’s profound but it’s not nearly as lighthearted and fluffy as it seems to be on the surface. I get the name tho, it’s totally a cat-and-mouse game from the start.
2. The acting was soooo much more than I expected in this. From the machiavellian ML Yoo Jung, who skirted the edge of darkness brilliantly, to the thoughtful FL HongSul, the batshit crazy InHa (I watched weightlifting fairy not long ago and it was the antithesis of her character in this one), to the SML InHo, who was a mood in and of himself.
3. It had a lot of funny and entertaining moments which had me rofl. I love how the ML got into the FL’s head in the beginning. I honestly don’t know if a ML has entertained me more from the very start. He is not angelic. He is not the stereotypical bad boy. He is so not boring.
4. The characters are varied and real. None are perfect, they all have flaws. Towards the end it went on a sort of psychological bender with a deep dive into that dark and twisty. Again, not what you’d expect.
5. The ending is not as satisfying as I would have wanted though you have to pay attention- it isn’t a bad or depressing ending. It just leaves you wanting more. I really enjoyed this one, and I’m seriously considering watching it again much sooner than I anticipated. Like, maybe right now.

the writing is uneven, like seems doesn't know which is the priority, but the some outstanding actor performances and chemistry of the cast make up for it. Bless the casting director for choosing Kim Go Eun as Hong Seol and Seo Kang Joon as Baek In Ho, even if they interpreted it differently compare to webtoon, but I think it's intentional from the writers and team production. They are rocking their roles and their chemistry are some of the best I've seen from young actor. . There is an effort behind the camera to make the scene come alive.. Certain scene make me relate so much. It's unsatisfying narrative. The writers waste so much with unnecesary scene. The pace is uneven, at times, is too fast, and at times, there is alot of filler in one episode and doesn't touch the real issue.. It's not even the amount of time In Ho got screen time is the problem.

But All in all, there is passion in team production, that make up for all the flaws. heck the writing.

I put off watching this drama for over a year because of the negative reviews I’ve been seeing. I honestly wish I didn’t do that because I can now say that this drama is one of the best from Korea. I felt it was honest and realistic in comparison to others. The acting was great. Each character exhibited strengths and weaknesses, making them interesting to watch it on screen. In real life everyone is multi dimensional and this drama portrayed that effectively.

The drama was consistently good despite some cliches. I definitely thought some could be avoided but in the end I did find most characters either relatable to me or someone I know.

I can understand many viewers got second lead syndrome after watching it an a due to that. But this is my take on it. The whole story is basically about how two the main lead has a mysterious side and the female lead grows to accept and love him despite the conflicts. If female lead and second male lead got together, there would be literally no essence to the story. I’m going to refrain from spoilers because I want this review to encourage people to watch it. I hope you aren’t put off by the negative reviews like I was. This drama delves into many deep issues and it not your typical fluffy romance. It will make you think, laugh, cry...

I know a lot of people did not like the ending, but although it bothered me, it didn't ruin the drama for me. If anything, I just thought of it as a kind of messed up ending for a kind of messed up story. This kdrama felt so unique compared to all the other ones I've watched. The show showed all of the different sides of the story and how the plot points affected everyone. Like many watchers, the real stars of the show were In Ho and In Ha. Their storylines of broken friendships and what was lost brought so much emotion where I almost burst into tears for them. I never knew who to feel bad for in this show, which was really frustrating, but also shows you how good it is. The ending for the main couple was kind of eh (I hate it when the couple breaks up but comes back together because how unrealistic is it that they have spent all those years just waiting for each other! Also, In Ho cut ties with Seol and her family which was so sad because it was so heartwarming when they accepted him as almost family! And I wish the ending was more like Seol helped Jung change rather than Jung changed by himself away from Seol. Except I liked how the In Ho and In Ha sibling bond was saved.)

I love this drama. That is. The casts all great. The complexity of the Yoo Jung character is played very well by Park Hae Jin. The drawback is that they decided to screw the last few episodes by pushing the story into a love triangle and too much screentime for the second lead and his piano. It is obvious that the male lead is missing in the story in the second half and is making the fans angry. The original webtoon writer also expressed her dissatisfaction with this drama. The male lead is left as a psychopath without a good closing to his character. I would suggest the viewers read the webtoon to understand the story more. but overall this drama makes me started to notice the webtoon and all the wonderful casts.

There Is No Greater Enemy Than Yourself - A Cheese in the Trap Review

As this story unfolds and Yoo Jeong (Park Hae Jin) finally comes into terms of how his life was ..starting from a longing affection and acceptance from his dad and family, people whom he thinks are his friends and will be with him no matter what his personality is, to being misunderstood as a growing teenager.

First two episodes, I grew angry at Hong Seol (Kim Go Eun) for not taking care of herself and allow herself to be this vulnerable . I think I have this woman complex that woman can be strong and can survive in a very harsh environment. I am glad that eventually, she’d learn to say “no”, stand up for herself and learn to say things that she usually kept bottled inside. I can definitely relate to her about talking to the many version of yourself to the point of arguing and talking to herself (very true and happening, believe me)

CHARACTERS
Our female lead depicted her character effectively so that I can relate to her somehow. About doing things yourself if you want things done but then again the assignment/ project calls for team effort. I see myself in Hong Seol sometimes that I began to realize how pathetic i can be sometimes .

Our male lead was true to his character as well ... there is no greater enemy that yourself. I think a lot of people can relate to Yoo Jeong and what his world’s like. In my opinion, judging people upfront is what divides us sometimes. A little understanding goes a long way just as Hong Seol is to Yoo Jeong. There are a lot of powerful episodes in this Kdrama and I recommend people watch this and have an open mind and heart while watching this and your experience watching this will really take you to a much higher heights…beyond their love story.

Baek In Ho ( Seo Kang Joon). There is no greater sadness than an unreciprocated love. Being rejected is another powerful emotion that not a lot of people can survive. I hope viewers can draw inspiration from the character In ho Baek that starting from his family, he was rejected too but someone showed him something that he can be good at like playing the piano and draws strength from that. I like that he was able to survive it all and find his own happiness and luckily finds someone that will love him back as well.

Episode 4 made me smile all the way up to my tears. The first experience of attraction by a guy is something that a girl wants to experience over and over. For someone who had gone far through life already, the thought of going back to that moment where life is simple as deciding whether you like a certain guy or not or whether to agree to go out with that guy is something of far memory now . Ahhh the taste of youthful love and crush. This is how this tv show is trying to get us to.. to that experience ... to that first moment ... to that sweet confession and ... to the sweetest question a guy can ask a girl...

Two people not able to communicate their feelings either towards each other or towards how they feel about their situation. They just kept it in their thoughts and bottled up. They talk to themselves and not to each other.

How can this relationship (whatever this is) survive when it didn’t start off with honesty.

The punk or the nerd ??? hahahaha

Episode 12 about honesty. A much powerful episode if one tries to dissect every word that Hong Seol said to Jeong. For people who isn’t keen on admitting some hard truths and letting their significant others know that is something more than mustering your feelings. As the character of Yoo Jeong portrays its is really difficult to admit things where you are most vulnerable . It takes more than a confession of feelings to admit that and make you come into terms of everything that is bottled up inside.

The only flaw I see in Cheese in a Trap is why they have a different ending compared to the webtoon version. I really want to know what the scriptwriter was thinking. As much as the ending frustrates me, I just want to imagine that there is hope for Yoo Jeong and Hong Sol as they deserve to be happy and that their love can survive in our sometimes harsh reality. I just hope that viewers can see beyond what is in mere surface of this K drama

ONE OF THE MOST UNIQUE KDRAMA I HAVE WATCHED

If you like realistic stories and characters that have depth, unique characteristics of FL and ML, this one is for you. Most people won't like it ofc since majority of the ppl like corny, cliche kind of dramas. But this one is good. I rarely even watch kdramas nowadays because of how corny, cliche, unrealistic, and slow paced it is BUT I really liked this one. Go watch it and don't look at the negative reviews. Especially if you are a college student. You can relate to Seol's characteristic a lot

I still ended up like the drama. It was super cute with a tense, mysterious air . That is hard to pull off.

Story: 7.5/10 because it had a very strong start! It would of been the best drama of the year if they took a different turn from what was given. Some of the sub plots felt rushed, but was interesting.  I'm glad the drama had a faster pace to it. It was a very realistic slice-of-life romance drama about 2 college students who started dating despite their many flaws & the people who were against it. The story felt original until the second half. The subplots, despite some of them were rushed, were realistic as well.

Cast: 9.5/10 because it was the best part of the drama and the characters wanted me to watch more. Kim Go Eun did an amazing job as Hong Seol. She was very realistic & I was able to relate to her so much. She was the best character in the drama. Yoo Jung(Park Hae Jin) was an enigma, dark, mysterious, but interestingly adorable character. I had fun with being cautious with liking him as a character. I haven't seen a drama or movie with this type of character. He's cold, but lovable. He's character was realistic as well, flaws and all. I also enjoyed In Ho as a character too. I really liked that he was friends with Hong Seol through thick and thin. I love Eun Taek & Bora so much. They had cute chemistry & loved their friendship with not only Seol, but with each other. The chemistry between Go Eun & Hae Jin was amazing. I like the chemistry between In Ho & In Ha despite being very distant to each other. In Ha would of been more of an interesting character if the writers wrote more scenes. Lee Sung Kyung was good as In Ha.

Music: 8/10 I really liked most of the music in the drama, but some were not as memorable.

Re-watch value: 8/10 because despite the conspiracy, I really liked the character development. Love the friendship, the family moments, realistic story-line & the romance between Yoo Jung & Hong Seol.

Overall, it was a good drama that would of been the best drama of the year if the drama team kept withe the original script. If you are going to watch this drama & know the conspiracy, then be very open minded about the realistic story line, the chemistry between the cast, the comedy & the friendship that happen in this drama.

Unique and realistic characters

I watched this drama when it first aired & I loved it & gave it a 9,5 … now I’m rewatching it while reading all the conflict and debate in the comments section… wondering if I missed something in my first watch but now that I’m in ep 09, I may understand those who didn’t like it.
The ML may look like a manipulative person but in reality he did nothing wrong by those who didn’t do him any harm ( he is very sensitive and loving to his dear ones), so why is it always the one who forgive and forget is the better person, why is the one who never take his rights by hand and play along is better … there is a proverb that says : « an eye for an eye and the one who start it is at fault »
I think Yoo Jung was always wise and calm, he hated drama and talking too much, he just wanted to be left alone unless the company is genuine, that’s why he fell for Hong seol ( after he got to know her), anyone who blames him should put himself in his place.
As a Libra Sun & Scorpio in Mars, I can relate to him, I’m always friendly and hates conflicts but when provoked many times I do take grudges, that doesn’t make me a bad person , I do give as much as I get be it a good or bad deed. of course we’re not promoting violence but sometimes it’s better to take care of things quietly without all the drama ( like if someone stole you pen in school you stole his without saying anything 👀)…
I hope I was not misunderstood 🤭 😇 and I hope you enjoy watching it as Much as I did..
the casting and music was amazing too , and I’m planing on reading the WEBTOON after 🤭
