Mai Mueng's uncle has just passed away and Sook Wong goes to her kingdom to attend the funeral. Mai Mueng and Sook Wong fall in love at first sight. She did not like him because he allowed foreigners into his kingdom. However, Sook Wong knew that the only way for his kingdom to remain standing was to have an alliance with the French. Mai Mueng also has a half-sister, Ming La, the daughter of her father and her aunt. Mai Mueng would give up anything for Ming La. Her aunt doesn't want Mai Mueng to be better known than her daughter so she always warns Mai Meung. When Ming La sees Sook Wong she falls in love with him. Sook Wong tries to get closer to Mai Mueng but she knows that Ming La likes him already so she stays away from Sook Wong. Later, a king of another kingdom asked for Ming La's hand in marriage. Their father agreed so that they could have a stronger alliance and in order to strengthen it even more they wanted Mai Mueng to get married with Sook Wong... Edit Translation
