Shimeshi is about a unique restaurant that accepts only one customer a day. It is called "Le Bon Vivre", tucked away in some back alley of the bustling city, that serves "lost food." Not anyone can easily get a reservation. That person has to have circumstances or are struggling on which path to take, and are currently at the crossroad of his life. Not only that, he must request for a dish that's lost in this world, a dish that has a significance in his life and now only exists in his memory. The staff of "Le Bon Vivre" consists of Terayashiki Renichi (Murakami Jun), the chef who has a discerning skill in reproducing dishes that are lost in this world; Oze Kiyoi (Hayashi Kento), the second chef who is responsible for researching recipes and information regarding the requested dishes; and Ikeyama Juri (Manaka Ayu), the owner and maître d'hôtel of "Le Bon Vivre". The three will do their best to recreate this lost dish, and serve it to their guests. Edit Translation

Hi guys, and welcome to my first review, I am so glad that I am the first one to review this awesome drama, I am disappointed that they only made four episodes, but the story makes a good compensation.

Now so far the J-Dramas associated with food usually have comedy in them, but this drama completely ditches that and digs in to the more sensual side of food, and by sensual I totally mean tear-jerking. Each episode packs a ton of feels and with each episode the feels increase two times. I actually cried watching the first episode because my heart was totally not ready for it. Seriously, this drama is NOT recommended for the weak and sensitive heart, because the customers are very relate-able, and you are bound to sympathize with them later.

The atmosphere of the show is actually very mysterious, you feel like you could predict what's going to happen and then a completely unexpected plot twist happens. I remember actually feeling scared when I saw the first few seconds of the first episode and I do wish that they would provide answers for the questions that this series' fans are bound to be asking, and unfortunately they won't be answered because this series was only four episodes long. (That doesn't mean there's no possibility for a season 2!!!!)

Now I can't say much about the acting, which is actually okay given that the atmosphere is mysterious and kept in the dark.

And Did I mention, the ending song of this series makes the perfect climax for each episode.

Nonetheless, this series blew me out of the water, the characters were magicians who showed me how the magic of food can move lives, and keep one in despair on his feet.

This is definitely a show I want seconds of.

I can't believe this drama only has 4 episodes! The cast and all of the stories should have made this a 12 episode series; or even 10 at the least! Each episode was heartwarming and very down-to-earth genuine. Each actor fulfilled his/her role to make this restaurant seem like magic.

I've never watched a show that made me feel so many emotions in such a short span of time; sad, happy, curious, mad, grateful... each episode was so full of amazing stories and feelings from each actor/actress. While each story was different, it all seemed to flow together very well and teach something different each time. The show itself left me with a very nice feeling; like something was still left to hope for.

If you're feeling curious or have no idea what to watch next, then definitely check this drama out. It is one of the most openly honest and real shows I have ever seen.
