Shimizu Yuichi is a young man who takes care of his grandparents in a decaying fishing village in Nagasaki. His grandparents raised Yuichi instead of his mother. Yuichi, a lonely man, works as a civil employee. One day, Yuichi meets Ishibashi Yoshino an insurance sales woman from Fukuoka. They first met through an online dating site. Their meeting ends in tragedy with Yuichi murdering Yoshino. Unexpectedly, a rich young university student from Fukuoka, named Masuo Keigo ends up as the prime suspect. Hiding in fear & agony, Yuichi goes on with his daily life. Then one day, Yuichi receives an email. The email is from Magome Mitsuyo, a woman from Saga. Yuichi and Mitsuyo exchanged emails in the past after meeting through an online dating site. Mitsuyo currently lives a mundane life, working at a men's clothing store and living with her younger sister. Looking for companionship, Mitsuyo decided to reach out to Yuichi after a lengthy time without correspondence. The two lonely souls then meet for the first time and throw themselves into a moment of love. By this time, Yuichi is now a wanted criminal and his face appears on the news. Nevertheless, Mitsuyo persuades Yuichi to run away with her and not turn himself in. Running away places heavy burdens on their families as well as the victim's family. Edit Translation

A review A opinion whats the difference anyway LOL

Well anyway heres what I like about this film.

first the love story

I expect this to be a dark movie and yes its dark but I was surprised it has one of the best love stories I watched and its more tragic than titanic. Just imagine this..two people wanted to be loved met in a dating site but the timing was wrong cause the guy just killed a girl before their meeting and I said this is more tragic than titanic cause in titanic jack died but he still remain in rose heart...in akunin yes the guy still remain in the girls heart but she now thinks that hes a murderer..akunin.

Second is the grayish akunin character

While watching the movie you will ask yourself is this guy good or bad, earlier part of the film portrays him to be a somewhat misunderstood kid but later part portrays him to be a bad person..the part where the mother tells that he took money from her and his grandmother blaming herself tells this and why he suddenly wanted to kill his lover near the end WTF.

Third is the acting

The father portrayed by akira emoto and the grandmother portrayed by kirin kiki are the ones that made me cry. these two characters has to be the most authentic holy motha faka piece of acting that I watched. Father searching for justice and the grandma blaming for herself. the lead are both fantastic in fact this masterpiece film made me think that satoshi tsubamuki is the best japanese young actor living today...his way of portraying a gray character needs praise, he didnt overdo the BAD side of the character to make the character clear gray...that for me is fuck*n hard and eri fukatsu tho not that great in some dramas I watched with her..but here I dont know what happen but she really shines here every emotion shown by her character goes deep to your heart facial express everything perfect. And their chemistry is one of the best seriously.

fourth is the music

the music composed by joe hisashi gives a very dark ambiance to the movie but his song gives life to a one of the best love stories ever told. I kept saying that credits ost is not just a piece of shit music at the end but it has to summarize what you just watched (the concept of the movie) and this song was the epitome of that....A dark love.

It's my first time ever to write a review for a movie I watched..so there's a lot of grammar mistakes here & there..also, English is not my first language..it's a big surprise that I end up liking a heavy/dark/mature kind of movie like this one..I usually like heartwarming & meaningful movies.

My review:

-The story part-

Even though, "Villain" had a complicated and heavy story..I think it's quite easy for me to understand the story and what's going on the movie.

Some said that "Villain" is a slow paced movie but for me it's quite an intense movie.

There's a certain scene that are quite hard for me to watch and makes me uncomfortable..I don't want to spoil here just figure it out yourself by watching this movie

-The acting part-

The acting by actors & actresses in "Villain" are all great especially Satoshi Tsumabuki..I think Satoshi-san's acting in "Villain" seems real..I mean it's not like he's acting..he's just the character himself (Yuichi) I can feel his character's anger, sadness and guilt throughout this movie..I find Masaki Okada's acting here as really good! His acting in other project I've seen him before is just average..nothing special compared to this one..I hate Okada's character the most out of all the other characters in this movie coz his character's personality is just so terrible..this is my first time watched Eri Fukatsu,Akira Emoto & Kirin Kiki..they're all did a great job at portrayed their own roles in this movie (I'll watch them in other projects soon) Last not least,my favourite actress,Hikari Mitsushima's acting is great as usual..though,she doesn't have a lot of screentime in this movie.

-The music part-

I think the OSTs played at the background are fit well with this movie..the most stand out for me is the English song that played at the end credit.

P/S: Anyway, I won't ever watch it again because this movie is indeed one of heartbreaking movies (I almost teared up when I watched it btw) and it's really heavy and dark (not good for my mental health if I watch it a lot of times)
